In order to be efficient teachers should understand the current level of leaners through diagnostic evaluation. However, it is arduous to administer a diagnostic examination in every class because of various limitations. This study examined, the major issues arising from the development of a new science diagnostic evaluation system by incorporating the using knowledge state analysis method. The proposed evaluation system was based on the knowledge state analysis method. Knowledge state analysis is a method where by a distinguished collection of knowledge uses the theory of knowledge space. The theory of knowledge space is very advantageous when analyzing knowledge in strong hierarchies like mathematics and science. It helps teaching plan through methodically analyzing a hierarchy viewpoint for students' knowledge structure. The theory can also enhance objective validity as well as support a considerable amount of data fast by using the computer. In addition, student understanding is improved through individualistic feedback. In this study, an evaluation instrument was developed that measured student learning outcome, which is unattainable from the existing method. The instrument was administered to pre-service physics teachers, and the results of student evaluation was analyzed using the theory of knowledge space. Following this, a revised diagnostic evaluation system for facilitating student individualized learning was constructed.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the structures of teacher's discourse according to the pattern of interaction between teachers and students in the understanding mathematical word problem. The structures of teacher's discourse could be conceptualized as a process in which the teacher starts, develops and organizes the discourse based on prior research. For this purpose, the fourth class(example, a problem of the same type as the example, formative assessment, and final assessment) was extracted from one semester of experienced teachers who have been practicing teaching methods to facilitate student participation for many years. A methodology used to develop a theory based on data collected through classroom observations. Because the purpose of the study is to identify the structures of teacher's discourse to help the problem understanding, observe the teacher's discourse and collect data based on student engagement. Results show that the structure of teacher's discourse, which consults on important aspects of interaction between teachers-students and creates mathematical meanings, helped students understand the mathematics word problem by promoting their engagement in class. Based on the structures of teacher's discourse to understand problems based on the interaction patterns between teachers and students, it can be said that teachers provided specific methodologies on how to communicate with students in order to understand problems in the future.

The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) announced the TIMSS 2015 results at the end of 2016. In this research, we analyzed the relationship between Korean eighth grade students' attitude toward science and science achievement, trends in students' attitude toward science based on common items used in three to four cycles of TIMSS, and trends across grades in students' attitude toward science. According to the results, Korean eighth grade students showed the lowest level of confidence with science, interest in learning science, and valuing science among the 15 top performing countries as well as all the participant countries. In addition, according to the analysis result of common items, Korean students' confidence with science and interest in learning science have decreased, whereas students' valuing science with instrumental values has increased between TIMSS 2011 and TIMSS 2015. According to trends across grades, the cohort of students, assessed at the fourth grade in TIMSS 2011 and moved to the eighth grade four years later in 2015, decreased in their confidence with science and interest in learning science. Discussed in the conclusion are further studies and ways to improve science teaching and learning to improve students' attitude toward science.

The purpose of this study is to present the development direction of future reading education by examining the characteristics of reading materials within the high school textbook developed as the 2015 revised curriculum. For this purpose, reading materials of high school textbooks were analyzed in Korean language, mathematics, English, integrated science, and integrated social studies. The analysis criteria of reading materials were subject type, purpose, and student activities. As a result of the study, reading materials on various themes such as humanity, liberty, culture, environment, and district were presented in the integrated society and integrated science textbook of the 2015 revised curriculum. In particular, the Korean language curriculum was composed of a unit called "reading one book in one semester". However, most reading materials have no guidance on reading effective or reading direction, and lack of reading materials and information for extended reading. The reader's reading of the textbook was found to be simply supplementing the learning content of each unit or presenting fragmentary cues for conceptual purposes. This suggests that there is a lack of awareness of students' interest in reading, internalization of reading, and extension of reading. In this paper, we suggest supplementary materials of reading materials for expanding the high school textbooks, and explore the developmental relationship between textbooks and reading education through suggestions on aspects of textbook composition and teaching methods.

Based on social cognitive theory, self-efficacy in the context of learning has been steadily emphasized as an indicator of students' motivation and performance. The premise for developing such an instrument was that a specific measure of Physics self-efficacy was deemed to be an important predictor of the change processes necessary to improve students' physics understanding. In this study we described the process of developing and validating an instrument to measure students' beliefs in their abilities to perform essential tasks in physics and then investigated high school students' self-efficacy about physics learning and performance. Validity and reliability of PSEI were tested using various statistical techniques including the Cronbach alpha coefficient, exploratory factor analysis. The result of factor analysis supported the contention that the Physics Self-Efficacy Inventory (PSEI) was a multidimensional construct consisting of at least four dimensions: understanding and application of Physics concepts, achievement motivation, confidence for physics laboratory, confidence for Mathematics. The result showed that Kroean high schools students have low Physics self-efficacy for the all four dimensions. Therefore, researchers should focus on development of students' Physics self-efficacy. In addition, the instrument may lead to further understanding of student behavior, which in turn can facilitate the development of strategies that may increase students' aspiration to understand and study Physics. More specifically, by using the PSEI as a pre- and post-test indicator, instructors can gain insight into whether students' confidence levels increase as they engage in learning Physics, and, in addition, what type of teaching strategies are most effective in building deeper understanding of Physics concepts.where they freely exchanged opinions and feedback for constructing better collective ideas.
The purpose of this study is to find out how the reconstructed textbook for vocational high school students influences on students' scholastic achievement and affective domain when it is used in the class of vocational high school. To tackle the study problems, the researcher chose two classes of the first grade in G commercial high school and gave lessons to each of the two classes; one class, as an experimental group, was taught with the reconstructed textbook and the other, as a comparative group, was taught with the original textbook. The following results are derived from the study. First, it turned out in the post academic achievement test result, there is no significant difference between the experimental group and the comparison group, by significant level; .05. However, the prior academic achievement test result shows that the average of the comparison group is 0.44 points higher than the average of the experimental group, while the post test result shows that the average of the experimental group is 1.96 points higher than the average of the comparison group. Second, it turned out by the post affective domain test result, there is no significant difference between the experimental group and the comparison group, by significant level; .05, and any significant difference did not occur in all five areas. However, the whole point of the affective domain and the points of each area of experimental group are higher than those of the comparison group, and the degree of improvement in experimental group is also greater than that of the comparison group. In conclusion, the effectiveness of utilizing a reconstructed textbook in vocational high school math class can be expected in the long term.
This research studies the perception to gifted education teachers between the middle school gifted education for STEAM and Convergence Gifted Education for revitalizing Convergence Gifted Education. The conclusions according to the analysis, it shows that the awareness of gifted education teachers for Convergence Gifted Education is lower than the level of the awareness for STEAM, and it appears that the Gifted education teachers especially has the experience adapting Convergence Gifted Education who awareness for Convergence Gifted Education is the highest. On the other hand, not only teachers has the experience adapting Convergence Gifted Education and the very poorly recognition for the task of Comprehensive Plan for Gifted Education promotion including the development of an creative and convergence content, a they has the very low experience for the development. And it analyzes that although there is no meaningful differences, teachers who are in science gifted teachers and the mature experienced man realizes very optimistically the necessity need of Convergence Gifted Education. Therefore, it analyzes that recognition to the necessity need of Convergence Gifted Education is reinforced through the training for the gifted teachers in the mathematics gifted education and in less teaching experience. But it points out that answers over the majority cognized to resemble the Convergence Gifted Education and STEAM, though the object is only different. Furthermore, it suggests that the differentiated Convergence Gifted Education curriculum providing the suitableness for the characteristic and level is needed for the desirable fixedness.
The study aimed to investigate the characteristics of algebraic thinking of the mathematically gifted students and search for how to teach algebraic thinking. Research subjects in this study included 93 students who applied for a science gifted education center affiliated with a university in 2015 and previously experienced gifted education. Students' responses on an algebraic item of a creative thinking test in mathematics, which was given as screening process for admission were collected as data. A framework of algebraic thinking factors were extracted from literature review and utilized for data analysis. It was found that students showed difficulty in quantitative reasoning between two quantities and tendency to find solutions regarding equations as problem solving tools. In this process, students tended to concentrate variables on unknown place holders and to had difficulty understanding various meanings of variables. Some of students generated errors about algebraic concepts. In conclusions, it is recommended that functional thinking including such as generalizing and reasoning the relation among changing quantities is extended, procedural as well as structural aspects of algebraic expressions are emphasized, various situations to learn variables are given, and activities constructing variables on their own are strengthened for improving gifted students' learning and teaching algebra.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data that can be used in a reasonable assessment of the learning outcomes of STEAM. It presented a learning outcome evaluation method, relative weights of key competencies standard that a learner should cultivate. For this study, a pairwise comparison questionnaire about the key competencies was conducted on the STEAM professionals, and AHP was applied to analyze the priority of main factors of key competencies. The results of this study are as follows. First, the importance of capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition, in the first layer of key competencies, were 39.4% and 36.8%, respectively. In the education evaluation of the STEAM, capabilities of convergence accomplishment and capabilities of convergent cognition showed similar level of importance, and were considered more important factor than capabilities of convergence attitude (23.8%). Second, the relative importance of capabilities of problem solving (20.0%) was highest in the second layer of key competencies, and followed by capabilities of creative thinking (18.3%), responsibility (15.3%), and understanding convergence knowledge (11.0%). Third, it will be a foundation of a competency evaluation, which reasonably evaluates, based on the relative weights, whether to accomplish educational objectives of the STEAM program In addition, this results is expected to become a guide to develop an education program that can improve the teaching and learning process and raise the learning outcome, as well as an education evaluation of the STEAM.
Improving the design ability of idea developing and creative problem solving should be started from the primary school. Design education in the primary school should be not education for design but education by design. It helps students can naturally understand the basic concept of design and experience the process of activities. Therefore primary educational circle use the term of 'Design-related activities', or 'Design-Based Education'. It can be applied to variable themes of mathematics, science, music, society as well as Art. On the Basis of these literature review, the traditional design education as a part of the art education is analyzed in two aspects of its contents and behaviors. The contents in design education involve aesthetic·symbolic, useful·functional, and scientific·technological area. And, the basic design behaviors are classified with 'know', 'perceive', 'inquire', and so on. This concept becomes the analytic frame of the present condition of design education in Korean primary school. Through the analysis, it is found that the portion of scientific·technological area in contents and 'inquire' related behaviors are relatively very low. Also, the planning and teaching methods for leading children's opportunity of creative expression are found inadequate. This study proposes the potential capability and the integrative contents of design education in primary school.
