  • Education emphasizes problem-solving skills based on convergent thinking power in an era of rising uncertainty and rapid progress. This paper proactively designed e-Learning team teaching convergence liberal arts courses for prospective teachers by these social needs. It analyzed the empirical effects on the operation of the subjects to foster future talent who can converge and apply knowledge in various fields. The curriculum consisted of professors of mathematics, practical Arts, computer, and education, and was operated to convey convergent knowledge of information technology and humanities, and consisted of 15 liberal arts courses at J University. Besides, textbooks and teaching materials were also developed by the faculty. As a result of the primary research, prospective teachers who took the course generally showed high satisfaction with the class, especially for the faculty. The students' overall convergent thinking ability has increased to a statistically significant level (p<.01), and the students' major has been found to be irrelevant. On the other hand, it can be seen that communication, content convergence, and caring factors, excluding creativity factor, have all risen to a significant level.

  • 'Calculus for Life Science' is one of the calculus courses for students majoring life science in Seoul National University. Contrary to the other calculus courses for students in natural sciences and engineerings, in 'Calculus for life Science' we have primarily chosen computer-based curriculum that is useful to life science and so we have tried to fulfill the requirements of the students majoring life science. Like this, we are of the opinion that there are diverse requirements in life science as well as other majors in basic mathematical education of the university. Upon this view, in this research, we consider the present conditions, the points at issue and study improvements of them. In section II and III, we introduce briefly the present 'Calculus for Life Science' focused on the curriculum. In section IV, according to the course evaluations and questionnaire, we make an analysis of the present condition and the points at issue of 'Calculus for Life Science'. In section V and VI, we present the improvements of the curriculum and the several education environments.

  • The purpose of this study is to show the way of teaching the scietific talent in Japan. This study was conducted only by the printed matters. The results of the investigation are as follows: 1. Japan at present has neither systems nor laws for offical scientific talent education. 2. Japanese's scientific knowledge and way of rational thinking had been widespread among the general public by elementary education from one hundred ten years or so ago. 3. In addition, the instrument subjects such as foreign language and mathematics were well educated in the elementary and secondary school level and the preparatory courses of college. 4. Especially, the third and the first preparatory courses of a college(Daisan Koukou and Daiitchi Koukou) and Kyoto University have contributed greatly to the cultivation of liberal spirit in education, which turned out to be one of the essential elements for scientific talent education.

  • The advancement of online technology in the 21st century has increased online courses and web-based communication in higher education. This type of education is not limited by time or location and has made it possible to expand university campuses globally and broaden the reach of university education to the general public and students from other universities. Changes such as a decrease in the school-age population and a reorganization of the university structure have also created an opportunity to change the perception of online education. In this paper, we conducted surveys on K University students, high school seniors, and the general public to assess their satisfaction with online courses, identify areas that require massive online courses, and determine students' needs for the operation of massive online courses. The survey showed that K University students are generally satisfied with online courses. However, improvements are needed to ensure a smooth online course-taking environment, increase system uniformity, and enhance the overall online course environment. High school students have a strong preference for natural science and should be offered online courses in subjects such as mathematics and physics as prerequisites to prepare for their major classes. The general public prefers the humanities, which is evident in the purpose of the liberal arts lectures.
