The purpose of this research was to investigate mathematics teachers' beliefs regarding the implementation of STEM approaches in secondary school mathematics classes and to identify the factors influencing their beliefs. A survey on teachers' beliefs about applying STEM in mathematics classes was developed and distributed online to mathematics teachers from middle and high schools in two metropolitan areas. Eighty-two surveys were returned from the teachers. Factor analysis revealed that the items were distributed among five main aspects. The findings indicated that most teachers believed in the necessity of implementing STEM education. However, some teachers expressed concerns about the effectiveness of implementation due to the lack of materials, resources, and equipment needed for STEM implementation.
The purpose of this study, for each section of high school mathematics I help to verify the utillization of instructional class in the formation of students' academic achievement and mathematical beliefs. For this purpose we construct an experimental class and then analyse the students' change in those aspects after applying concept learning hand-out and colleage feedback on their works those students are in the experimental class. As a result of the experiment, we find that concept learning hand-out activity and colleague feedback made some significant changes on the students achievement in mathematics and mathematical beliefs. Therefore, in this study I want to solve the concrete problems are as follows. First, utilizing the concepts of mathematics tutoring lessons to improve students' academic achievement is it effective? Second, utilizing the concepts of mathematics tutoring classes does have a positive impact on students' mathematical beliefs? Third, utilizing the concepts of mathematics tutoring lessons for students what is the reaction?
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mathematical belief of elementary school preservice teachers and elementary school teachers and to analyze their differences in mathematical belief. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, Elementary school preservice teachers generally regard the belief in the nature of mathematics as 'rules and procedures' and emphasize the 'process of inquiry' about the beliefs of learning mathematics. When comparing the beliefs according to gender, there is a significant difference only in the category of 'teacher instruction' among the beliefs of learning mathematics. Second, elementary school teachers generally regard the nature of mathematics as a 'inquiry process' and have a 'student-led' belief about the learning mathematics. There is no significant difference of the belief about the nature of mathematics and learning mathematics between the elementary school teachers by gender and majors. However, when comparing the mathematical beliefs according to educational level, there is a difference in beliefs about the nature of mathematics. Third, comparing the mathematical beliefs of elementary school preservice teachers and elementary school teachers, there is no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the 'rules and procedures' subcategories of the nature of mathematics, but there is a significant difference in 'inquiry process'.

The goal of this thesis was to examine the effects of applying meta-problems to elementary school mathematics class In their achievements, beliefs and attitudes. To achieve this goal the following research questions were asked. a. What effects does the class applied with meta-problem have on students' mathematical achievements? b. What effects does the class applied with meta-problem have on students' mathematical beliefs and attitudes? To answer questions, an experimental study was designed and conducted. The subjects were 6th-grade students at S Elementary School located in Dobong-Gu, Seoul where the researcher teaches. Among them, the class that the researcher teach was chosen as the experimental group. During the experimental study, a teaching-learning with meta-problems was applied to the experimental group and a teaching-learning with general problems was applied to the comparative group. To examine changes in the mathematical achievements of the experimental group and the comparative group, a post-test of mathematical achievements was conducted and the results were t-tested. As well, to find answers to the second research question, a pre-test and a post-test of mathematical beliefs and attitudes were conducted on the experimental group and the results were t-tested. The results of this study were as follows First, the experimental group which was taught applying meta-problems got higher mathematical achievement than the comparative group. Second, the class with meta-problems did not bring significant changes in students' mathematical beliefs and attitudes. Synthesizing the study results above, a teaching-learning with meta-problems is a teaching-learning method that can accommodate problem solving naturally in school mathematics and give a positive effect on students' mathematical achievements.
Under the assumptions that teachers' beliefs toward mathematics education play a role of a filter between teachers' knowledge and teaching practices, this study surveyed and analyzed elementary teachers' beliefs toward mathematics education: helping students to understand mathematics concepts, addressing students' mathematical misconceptions, engaging students in mathematics classroom, and improving students' mathematical thinking. From the analysis of survey results of the study, I found that there were dominant components in elementary teachers' beliefs system regarding teaching mathematics. In addition, there are some constructs affected by teachers' characteristics such as gender and educational backgrounds. In this study, I presented a representative model of elementary teachers' beliefs system toward mathematics education.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to clarify the influences of constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes on early childhood teachers' mathematics teaching efficacy. This study also examined the mediating effect of eco-friendly attitudes on the relationship between the other two variables. Methods: A total of 399 teachers teaching 3,4 and 5-year-olds in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon participated in this study. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 21.0 program and the Sobel test. Results: First, mathematical teaching efficacy of early childhood teachers was significantly correlated with constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes. Second, with teacher's career as the control variable, constructivist educational beliefs have more influence in mathematical teaching efficacy than the other variable. Third, eco-friendly teaching attitude partially mediated between the other two variables. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study imply that constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes are important factors on mathematics teaching efficacy. It is expected that it will be used as basic data for various programs that increase constructivist educational beliefs and eco-friendly teaching attitudes.

This study examines whether there is discrepancy between elementary and middle school mathematics teachers' beliefs and practices in constructed-response assessment and how their beliefs and practices are interrelated. Analyzing the responses of 212 elementary teachers and 189 middle school mathematics teachers to the questionnaire, we found that there is lack of consistency among elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs, practices, and expected benefits regarding constructed-response assessment. In addition, there was a weak correlation between each group of teachers' beliefs and expected benefits about constructed-response assessment. The results from this study imply that such inconsistency in elementary and middle school teachers' beliefs and practices regarding assessments may determine the effects of constructed-response assessment.
Teachers' attitudes and beliefs are related to teaching practices and are dependent upon their teaching domain. The present study compares conceptual models of creative student oriented teaching practices of mathematics teachers in two OECD countries, South Korea and Turkey to provide an insight for teacher educators and policy makers. Teaching and Learning International Survey 2008 (TALIS 2008) data are used to test the fit of a path analysis model with a subsample of l337 middle school mathematics teachers ($N_{Korea}$ = 562 vs. $N_{Turkey}$ = 775). The study showed that Turkish teachers were younger and less experienced, whereas Korean teachers were better educated. Despite the statistical differences in attitudes, beliefs and practices between countries, it was found that the teaching practices of mathematics teachers in both countries were more complex than to be explained only through attitudes and beliefs.
Understanding the belief of mathematics pre-service teachers is essential in conducting and designing the effective teacher education program. This study analyzed the mathematical belief of the elementary school pre-service teachers. The results of the study are as follows. First, persistence factor, which is the belief about solving mathematical problems, following teacher direction factor, which is the belief about mathematical studies, activity involvement factor, and interest factor, which is the belief about self-concept, showed much connection with other mathematical belief factors. Second, the stereotype factor, which is the belief about mathematics, are affecting the following teacher direction factor. The process factor, which is the belief about solving mathematical problems, are affecting the activity involvement factor. Third, as for the comparison of the mathematical beliefs according to grades, only the stereotype and usefulness factors, which are the beliefs about mathematics, and the benefit factor, which is the belief about self-concept, had statistically significant differences. Fourth, as for the comparison of the mathematical beliefs according to majors, all the mathematical beliefs except for the confidence factor and benefit factor, which is the belief about self-concept, had significant differences. Based on the results of this study, we need to establish the mathematical beliefs that the elementary school pre-service teachers should have, and prepare various measures such as education program for pre-service teachers and instruction-learning methods.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical beliefs of students and teachers by Latent Class Analysis(LCA). This study surveyed 60 teachers about beliefs of 'nature of mathematics', 'mathematic teaching', 'mathematical ability' and also asked 1850 students about beliefs of 'school mathematics', 'mathematic problem solving', 'mathematic learning' and 'mathematical self-concept'. Also, this study classified each student and teacher into a class that are in a similar response, analyzed the belief systems and built a profile of the classes. As a result, teachers were classified into three types of belief classes about 'nature of mathematics' and two types of belief classes about 'teaching mathematics' and 'mathematical ability' respectively. Also, students were classfied into three types of belief classes about 'self concept' and two types of classes about 'School Mathematics', 'Mathematics Problem Solving' and 'Mathematics Learning' respectively. This study classified the mathematics belief systems in which students were categorized into 9 categories and teachers into 7 categories by LCA. The belief categories analyzed through these inductive observations were found to have statistical validity. The latent class analysis(LCA) used in this study is a new way of inductively categorizing the mathematical beliefs of teachers and students. The belief analysis method(LCA) used in this study may be the basis for statistically analyzing the relationship between teachers' and students' beliefs.
