In this paper, a new scheme to calculate the weighting factor of the 2-D isotropic-dispersion finite difference time domain(ID-FDTD) is proposed. The weighting factor in [1] was formulated in free space, so that it may not be optimal in dielectric media. Therefore, the weighting factor was reformulated by considering the material properties and using the least mean square method. As a result, a minimum numerical dispersion error for any dielectric media is guaranteed.

MOS-FET structured gas sensors were manufactured using MWCNTs for application as NOx gas sensors. As the gas sensors need to be heated to facilitate desorption of the gas molecules, heat dispersion plays a key role in boosting the degree of uniformity of molecular desorption. We report the desorption of gas molecules from the sensor at $150^{\circ}C$ for different sensor electrode gaps (30, 60, and $90{\mu}m$). The COMSOL analysis program was used to verify the process of heat dispersion. For heat analysis, structure of FET gas sensor modeling was proceeded. In addition, a property value of the material was used for two-dimensional modeling. To ascertain the degree of heat dispersion by FEM, the governing equations were presented as partial differential equations. The heat analysis revealed that although a large electrode gap is advantageous for effective gas adsorption, consideration of the heat dispersion gradient indicated that the optimal electrode gap for the sensor is $60{\mu}m$.

Practical application of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) qualified as a promising material has been limited by either poor dispersion or their insolubility in aqueous or organic media due to formation of bundling by relatively high surface energy. Thus, major attention to overcome this issue has been paid at surface modification of CNTs by functionalization, but this introduces defects to the sidewall of CNTs, consequently perturbing the inherent electronic and optical properties. Therefore, using surfactants is a general approach to disperse SWCNTs with lower damages by which bundled nanotubes could be dispersed up to the level of individuals or small bundles. Here, we have investigated various surfactants for their efficiency in dissolving purified SWCNTs produced by arc discharge in deionized water. To compare the surfactants respectively, we have determined the least amount of each surfactant to suspend the nanotubes under optimized experimental conditions(CNT amount, sonication power, and centrifugation speed, etc.) set on the basis of the most common surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) and discussed the qualitative and quantitative characterization of SWCNT dispersions by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. Quantitative aspect about nanotube dispersion was that in particular N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (NaDDBS) were found to be effective in dispersing individual tubes.

This article investigates the effect of viscoelastic foundations on the waves' dispersion in a beam made of ceramic-metal functionally graded material (FGM) with microstructural defects. The beam is considered to be shear deformable, and a simple three-unknown sinusoidal integral higher-order shear deformation beam theory is applied to represent the beam's displacement field. Novel to this study is the investigation of the impact of viscosity damping on imperfect FG beams, utilizing a few-unknowns theory. The stresses and strains are obtained using the two-dimensional elasticity relations of FGM, neglecting the normal strain in the beam's depth direction. The variational operation is employed to define the dispersion relations of the FGM beam. The influences of the material gradation exponent, the beam's thickness, the porosity, and visco-Pasternak foundation parameters are represented. Results showed that phase velocity was inversely proportional to the damping and porosity of the beams. Additionally, the foundation viscous damping had a stronger influence on wave velocity when porosity volume fractions were low.
We synthesized various polyurethanes(PU) haying different hard segments with different molecular weights of the soft segment to explore the effect of structure on the dispersion of silver particle in the phase of synthesized polyurethanes matrix. The thermal stability was increased by increasing the number of aromatic compound, while the degree of dispersion for silver particle was decreased. Silver particles showed better dispersion in the PU matrix having aromatic compounds when the soft segments were held constant. On the contrary, when the hard segment was held constant, silver particles on the PU matrix haying low $M_w$ of soft segment showed better dispersion than high $M_w$ of soft segment because poor chain mobility of low $M_w$ of soft segment restricted re-aggregation of silver particle. A sheet resistance of composite materials showed different aspects. In this case, the inter connection between silver particles was more important than its dispersion. In this study, the NDI-PEG 900/silver particle composite film showed the best thermal stability and electro conductivity.

Radioactive materials from nuclear power facilities can be released into the atmosphere through various channels. Recently, the dispersion of radioactive materials has become critical issue in Korea after Kori Unit 1 and Wolsong Unit 1 were permanently shut down. In this study, annual atmospheric dispersion factors were compared based on the continuous release and purge release using the XOQDOQ computer program, a method for calculating atmospheric dispersion factors at commercial nuclear power stations. The meteorological data analyzed in this study was based on the Shin Kori nuclear power meteorological tower which has the largest operating nuclear power plants in Korea, for three years (from 2008 to 2010). The analysis results of the dispersion factor of the radioactive material release obtained using the XOQDOQ program showed that the difference between the continuous release and purge release was within two times. This study will be valuable helpful for revealing the uncertainty of the predictive atmospheric dispersion factor to achieve regulation.

This Study was performed to get the suitable oil dispersion agent by assessment of color strength of organic pigment in non-aqueous systems. Organic pigment is used as a color expression material with other body pigments in the make-up products. But occasionally aggregation or agglomeration occurs for the lack of affinity with medium, This function is the cause of disturbing homogeneous dispersion, and then bring about an instability of products. Our study, research of dispersion mechanism between the pigment and oil phase, has been executed to solve this problem, and find a oil dispersion agent having optimum dispersion condition. Generally dispersion is related to between the solid-liquid mutual properties and electrical phenomena associated with solid-liquid interface. This factor is determined to input energy, milling time, optical properties, particle size, rheological properties, etc. Ideal dispersion state is told that coloring primary solid particle is homogeneously dispersed in medium. Good dispersed colorants are strongly and clearly appeared. We are already known that the particle size of organic pigment, chemical properties and viscosity of medium, refractive index. Consequently We determine the affinity of medium and organic pigment by measuring of color strength in the same mechanical condition. UV-VISIBLE RECORDING SPECTRO PHOTOMETER is used for measuring apparatus. We can decided the dispersion level of oil dispersion agent by measuring absorbance of color strength in the visible range that diluted medium for colloid colorant particles.

$Al_2O_3$ nanosol dispersed under ethanol or N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone(NMP) was studied and optimized with various dispersion factors and by utilizing the silane modification method. The two kinds of $Al_2O_3$ powders used were prepared by thermal decomposition method from aluminum ammonium sulfate$(AlNH_4(SO_4)_2)$ while controlling the calcination temperature. $Al_2O_3$ sol was prepared under ethanol solvent by using a batch-type bead mill. The dispersion properties of the $Al_2O_3$ sol have a close relationship to the dispersion factors such as the pH, the amount of acid additive(nitric acid, acetic acid), the milling time, and the size and combination of zirconia beads. Especially, $Al_2O_3$ sol added 4 wt% acetic acid was found to maintain the dispersion stability while its solid concentration increased to 15 wt%, this stability maintenance was the result of the electrostatic and steric repulsion of acetic acid molecules adsorbed on the surface of the $Al_2O_3$ particles. In order to observe the dispersion property of $Al_2O_3$ sol under NMP solvent, $Al_2O_3$ sol dispersed under ethanol solvent was modified and solvent-exchanged with N-Phenyl-(3-aminopropyl)trimethoxy silane(APTMS) through a binary solvent system. Characterization of the $Al_2O_3$ powder and the nanosol was observed by XRD, SEM, ICP, FT-IR, TGA, Particles size analysis, etc.

This paper presents a study on the dispersion effect of the X-Ray diffraction, glass transition and DMA properties of organic modifier clay/epoxy nanocomposites produced in a homogenizer. Several experiments were conducted including different types of dispersion condition with varying processing conditions such as homogenizer rotor speed and applied time of homogenizer. The effects of these variables on the dispersion properties of nanocomposites were then studied. In order to fully understand the experimental results, a X-ray diffraction, DSC and DMA were used to investigate the effect of above mentioned variables on microstructure and intercalation/exfoliation of organic modifier clay/epoxy nanocomposites. The results from this work could be used to determine the best processing condition to obtain appropriate levels of d-spacing, glasss transition temperature and storage modulus in organic modifier clay/epoxy nanocomposites.

In this study, the atmospheric dispersion of radioactive material ($^{137}Cs$) was simulated with regard to its impact within a 50-km radius from the Kori Nuclear Power Plant (NKPP) based on two different types of models (the non-steady-state puff model CALPUFF and the lagrangian model HYSPLIT) during the spring of 2012 (May 2012). The dispersion distribution of $^{137}Cs$ calculated in the CALPUFF model was similar to that of the HYSPLIT model, but the magnitudes of differences in its spatio-temporal concentrations between the two models were different. The $^{137}Cs$ concentrations simulated by the CALPUFF were significantly lower than those of the HYSPLIT due to a limitation of puff models (e.g. puff size growth over time). The CALPUFF had the advantage of determining the dispersion of radioactive materials and their impacts on the surrounding regions, compared with the HYSPLIT that had high concentrations of $^{137}Cs$ in only small local areas with the movement of air masses along the local winds.
