The Development of Material Technology Applied to Bumper Beam (자동차 범퍼빔 적용 차세대 재료기술의 개발)

  • It is to be classified into friendly environment and safety problems, as a main technology development of the recent automotive industry. As these tendency, lots of automobile companies focus on a reduction of fuel expenses and strengthen of crash safety using high strength steel. In this study advanced technologies such as tailored blanks, aluminum extrusion and high strength steel forming applied to bumper beam will be described. As a result of impact analysis and an actual impact test, in terms of beam performance and a possibility fur the mass production will be discussed.

  • Fused deposition modelling(FDM) is a rapid prototyping(RP) process that fabricates part layer by layer by deposition of molten thennoplastic material extrude from a nozzle. RP system has many benefit. One of the benefit would be the ability to experiment with physical objects of any complexity in a relatively short period of time. But it has a matter of surface roughness and geometric accuracy. We research into a change of Surface roughness making the sphere by adjustment of extrusion in FDM.

  • It was investigated that curved aluminum products with 'ㄷ' section or with 'h' section could be bended during extrusion by the extru-bending process. In order to make bending at the exit section of die, the flow of billet inside die cavity was controlled by the shape of billet. As results of the analysis of $DEFORM^{™}-3D$, it was known that the bending phenomenon at the die exit can be happened by the asymmetric section of billet. And it was known by the experiment with plasticine or aluminum material that an symmetric product with 'c' channel section and the product with flanged 'h' section could be bended because of asymmetric shape of billet.

  • The friction and wear characteristics of CrN and TiN coatings on SKD61 which is mold material using for extrusion of AZ80 magnesium alloy were investigated. The coatings were deposited by the arc ion-plating method, and the thickness were about $3.59{\mu}m$ and $3.28{\mu}m$, respectively. Reciprocating friction wear tests were conducted by varying pin load and temperature of counter substrate at un-lubricated condition. The pin loads were 11, 15 and 19 kgf, and the substrate temperatures were room temperature and $120^{\circ}C$. CrN coating which has a lower friction coefficient and a smaller adhesive wear with AZ80 magnesium alloy showed better wear resistance than TiN coating.

  • A Manufacturing process of the power steering worm blank is analyzed by FEM aimulation. The process includes mainly three operations such as indentation, extrusion, and upsetting, which was designed bya forming equipment expert. The results of simulation are summarized in terms of load-stroke relationships, die pressure distributions, effective strain distribution, and deforming patterns for each forming operation. Also, Efforts are focused to get the reason that the tool expert designed the forming process in three operations. The results of the simulation are to be useful for the next advanced process planning in terms of good dimesional accuracy, savings in material and machining, no deforaming defects and imporvements in mechanical properties.

  • In this paper, the deformation method for inner and outer races of rollr-bearing bymeans of the warm precision forging is investigated. We adapted the process designsuch as following that, toincrease Die life, reduce heat transfer through conduction and the eccentricity of preform in warm forging of bearing gace, the bottom portion of billet is formed during upsetting process. Then it is backward extruded, and thus obtained ring preform is formed by combined extrusion. Also, we compared it with the froming method in China and Japan, and we have known it is more excellent method. Basides, this forming method is simulated by UBST which is based on the merits of UBET nd FEM. The results show that it is easy to know the exact location of neutral surface through the inspection of streamline during combined extrusion, and the velocity vector distribution along the surface of velocity discontinuity is investigationed. Also the effectiveness of this method is proved by te experiment using model material that is Plasticine.

  • Extrusion-spheronization processing combination was used to produce spherical granules with experimental formulations which contain microcrystalline cellulose as a diluent. The produced granules were compared on the basis of the following physical properties ; (a) bulk density, (e) porosity, (f) friabillity and (g) dissolution rate. With the specific experimental formulations used in this study, the increased plate rotational speeds of Marumerizer (400-1200rpm) produced continually more spherical material and also the obtained data indicated that the particle size distribution and dissolution rate depend upon the amount of microcrystalline cellulose used. As a result, the spherical granule preparation with microcrystalline cellulose has good properties in flow rate, packing propertyu and friability and offers a suitable method of granule preparation in pharmaceutical industry.

  • Carbody of rolling stock has been gradually changed as whole wood, steel frame with wood car body, whole steel car body with rivet and whole monocoque carbody with welding. And also mild steel has been used widely to material of structure, but usage of stainless and aluminium which have lightweight and high corrosion resistance is being increased lately. Structure is being commercialized to AED(All Extrusion Design),whole double skin with hollow excluded shape such as aluminium structure from SSD(Sheet Stringer Design), single skin consists of traditional frame and outside plat. Traditional aluminium carbody had many problems from reduced strength in welding combination section because car body is consist of small extruded material affected heat by welding. On this study, we proposed the plan to improve the body strength and quality with large-scale aluminium extruded material by minimizing welding concentration in combination section.

  • Most metals are polycrystalline material whose deformation is dominated by the slip system. During the deformation process, orientation of slip systems is rearranged with preferred orientations, leading to deformation-induced crystallographic texture which is called deformation texture. Depending on the texture development, the property of material can be changed. The rate-independent crystal plasticity which is based on the Schmid law as a yield function causes a non-uniqueness in the choice of active slip systems. In this work, to avoid the slip system ambiguity problem, rate-independent crystal plasticity model based on the smooth yield surface with rounded-off corners is adopted. In order to simulate the polycrystalline material under plastic deformation, we employ the Taylor model of polycrystal behavior that all the grains are assumed to be subjected to the macroscopic velocity gradient. Rigid-plastic finite element program based on this rate-independent crystal plasticity is developed to predict the grain-level deformation behavior of FCC metals during metal forming processes. In the finite element calculation, one integration point is considered as a crystalline aggregate which has a number of crystals. Macroscopic behavior of material can be deduced from the behavior of aggregates. As applications, the extrusion processes are simulated and the changes of mechanical properties are predicted.

Impact of root canal curvature and instrument type on the amount of extruded debris during retreatment

  • Objectives: The aim of the current study was to assess whether the amount of extruded debris differs for straight and severely curved root canals during retreatment using H-files, R-Endo, Reciproc and ProTaper Universal Retreatment (PTU-R) files. Additionally, the area of residual filling material was evaluated. Materials and Methods: Severely curved (n = 104) and straight (n = 104) root canals of maxillary molar teeth were prepared with WaveOne Primary file and obturated with gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer. Root canal filling materials were removed with one of the preparation techniques: group 1: H-file; group 2: R-Endo; group 3: Reciproc; group 4: PTU-R (n = 26). The amount of extruded material and the area of the residual filling material was measured. The data were analyzed with 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and 1-way ANOVA at the 0.05 significance level. Results: Except for Reciproc group (p > 0.05), PTU-R, R-Endo, and H-file systems extruded significantly more debris in severely curved canals (p < 0.05). Each file system caused more residual filling material in severely curved canals than in straight ones (p < 0.05). Conclusions: All instruments used in this study caused apical debris extrusion. Root canal curvature had an effect on extruded debris, except for Reciproc system. Clinicians should be aware that the difficult morphology of the severely curved root canals is a factor increasing the amount of extruded debris during the retreatment procedure.
