The aim of this study was to evaluate the fluoride release and microhardness of Beautifil II as giomer(Group I), F2000 Compomer as compomer(Group II), GC Fuji II LC Capsule as resin-modified glass ionomer(Group III) and $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350 as composite resin(Group IV) according to time. Forty discs(5 mm diameter and 2 mm height) were prepared for each material. Each disc was immersed in 3 ml of de-ionized water within polyethylene tube and stored at $37^{\circ}C$. Evaluations were performed by pH/ISE meter for analysis of fluoride release and hardness testing machine for analysis of microhardness over 31 days. The results can be summarized as follows : 1. For all groups except group IV, the greatest fluoride release was observed after the first day of the study period and then dramatically diminished over time. On the 7th day of the study period, fluoride release level was stabilized. 2. Group III showed the highest fluoride release among test groups and then group II, group I were followed. Significant difference in cumulative fluoride release over 31 days was found between each groups. Group IV showed no fluoride release during study period. 3. Group IV showed the highest microhardness among test groups and then group I, group II, group III were followed. Significant difference in microhardness was found between each group, except between group I and group II. 4. After 31 days, microhardness was slightly diminished in every group. However, no significant difference was found.
This study analyzed the managerial efficiency of 11 organizations, the branch centers of a occupational health service organization in Korea, using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The DEA is a good method for evaluating health services since it can handle multiple inputs and outputs simultaneously, and also identify the sources and amount of inefficiency. The author approached this study using two efficient models: the monetary value model and the real value model. The DEA method based on the monetary value model included cost factors, while the real value model excluded cost factors. The input variables used were manpower of physicians, medical technicians, nurses, industrial hygienists and administrators; labor, maintenance, and material expenses. The output variables used were the number of medical examinations, workplace evaluations, group health management services and income from each service. The major results were as follows: First, in the monetary value model, 6 out of 11 organizations (54.6%) showed an efficiency score of 1.0, which means that they have been operating in very efficient ways. However, 5 organizations (46.4%) showed themselves to be relatively inefficient. Second, in the real value model, 7 out of 11 organizations (63.4%) showed an efficiency score of 1.0, which means they have been operating efficiently, while 4 organizations (46.4%) showed themselves to be relatively inefficient. Third, the reliability of DEA method were analyzed by comparing the results of the monetary value model and real value model. The results of 8 out of 11 organizations were same in terms of being efficient or not. Thus, the DEA could be a valid application method for occupational health service organizations. Fourth, the organizations that displayed common inefficiency in both the monetary value model and in the real value model 3, 9, and 10, were also considered to be managed inefficiency from expertise opinion. In summary, this study evaluated the efficiency of occupational health service organizations applying the DEA method with different variables, and found that the results of analysis could be valid in terms of both modeling and expert sense. In the future, the DEA method will be used as a useful tool to identify and evaluate the efficiency of occupational health service organizations through more applications and refinements.

The food components of fish (skipjack tuna, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, conger eel, salmon, Spanish mackerel, armored weasel-fish) frames and their hot-water extracts were investigated to explore their possibilities as resources for fish Gomatang. According to the results of volatile basic nitrogen and heavy metal, bluefin tuna and salmon frames were below the safety limits suggested by Codex Code. Thus, bluefin tuna and salmon frames appeared to be safe as basic ingredients for fish Gomtang. The major components of all hot-water extracts from fish frames were nitrogenous component. According to the results of extractive nitrogen and sensory evaluations of hot-water extracts from fish frames, the salmon frame was a good raw material as a basic ingredient of fish Gomtang. The calcium and phosphorus contents of hot-water extracts from salmon frame were 18.0 mg/100mL and 33.1 mg/100mL, respectively.

This study examined the antioxidant activity of the water extract from graviola leaves to develop a harmless and highly stable natural antioxidant. The total polyphenol content, total flavonoid content, DPPH radical scavenging activity, and MTT assay activity were measured. As a result, 62.3 g of the water extract from graviola leaves was obtained at $98^{\circ}C$ using 300 g of graviola leaf powder. The total polyphenol content was $291.97+2.39{\mu}g/mL$ and the total flavnoid content was $161{\pm}7.85{\mu}g/mL$ in a 1 mg/mL water extract from graviola leaves. The DPPH radical scavenging activity showed 51.6%, 67.8%, 79%, 82.4% and 83.9% at concentrations of 1, 2.5, 5, 10 and 15 mg/mL. This shows concentration-dependent scavenging activity and significant antioxidant activity. As a result of measuring the toxicity about HDF cells, a HDF cell survival rate of 100% was observed at a 150 mg /mL concentration, which was the same as that of the control group and a higher cell survival rate at a lower concentration. In conclusion, the graviola leaf extract can be developed as a material of food or cosmetics containing natural antioxidants.
Background: A compact passive oxide layer can grow on tantalum (Ta). It has been reported that this oxide layer can facilitate bone ingrowth in vivo though the development of bone-like apatite, which promotes hard and soft tissue adhesion. Thus, Ta surface treatment on facial implant materials may improve the tissue response, which could result in less fibrotic encapsulation and make the implant more stable on the bone surface. The purposes of this study were to verify whether surface treatment of facial implant materials using Ta can improve the biohistobiological response and to determine the possibility of potential clinical applications. Methods: Two different and commonly used implant materials, silicone and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), were treated via Ta ion implantation using a Ta sputtering gun. Ta-treated samples were compared with untreated samples using in vitro and in vivo evaluations. Osteoblast (MG-63) and fibroblast (NIH3T3) cell viability with the Ta-treated implant material was assessed, and the tissue response was observed by placing the implants over the rat calvarium (n = 48) for two different lengths of time. Foreign body and inflammatory reactions were observed, and soft tissue thickness between the calvarium and the implant as well as the bone response was measured. Results: The treatment of facial implant materials using Ta showed a tendency toward increased fibroblast and osteoblast viability, although this result was not statistically significant. During the in vivo study, both Ta-treated and untreated implants showed similar foreign body reactions. However, the Ta-treated implant materials (silicone and ePTFE) showed a tendency toward better histological features: lower soft tissue thickness between the implant and the underlying calvarium as well as an increase in new bone activity. Conclusion: Ta surface treatment using ion implantation on silicone and ePTFE facial implant materials showed the possibility of reducing soft tissue intervention between the calvarium and the implant to make the implant more stable on the bone surface. Although no statistically significant improvement was observed, Ta treatment revealed a tendency toward an improved biohistological response of silicone and ePTFE facial implants. Conclusively, tantalum treatment is beneficial and has the potential for clinical applications.
Due to a surplus of rice on the market, there has been a growing interest in developing better processed rice products, especially rice liquor or spirits which are popular and have a large market value. In this study, Takju was made with different varieties of rice and rice powder particle sizes, after which a taste survey was performed and measurements were taken on the characteristics of Takju including the temperature of the fermenting material, sugar content, alcohol content, acidity, amino acid types, colors, etc. The varieties of rice used in the study included Chucheong, Hiami and Anda. The temperature of the brew for each kind of Takju reached its highest point 48 hours after preparation. Differences among rice varieties were only apparent in the acidity and taste evaluations. The acidity was found to be highest with Anda, followed by Chuchoeng and Hiami. Chuchoeng had the highest taste evaluation scores. With regards to particle sizes, the alcohol content and acidity were found to be highest with coarse rice powder while ultra fine rice powder showed the highest fermenting temperature, sugar content, acidity, amino acid type, pH level, color and taste scores right after preparation. The results of this study suggest that among the kinds of Takju made from different rice varieties and particle sizes, the one made from Chucheong ultra fine rice powder is the most preferable over other variations.

Purpose: The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a self - applied paint - on whitening gel combined with wrap to increase the effect of a whitening gel and minimize gingival irritation. Materials and Methods: Ninety adult volunteers were randomly treated to a control group and two experimental groups using whitening gel containing 2.8% and 3.0% hydrogen peroxide for 30 persons each. They had used the wrap and whitening gel on maxillary 4 anterior teeth for 30 minutes per day during 2 weeks. Whitening tooth color response was measured by VITA shade guide and ShadeEye $NCC^{(R)}$. And side effects were assessed from interview and intraoral examination. The efficacy and safety evaluations were statistically analyzed. Results: In the evaluation with VITA shade guide, there was significantly the whitening effect in experimental groups compared with the control group. In the evaluation with ShadeEye $NCC^{(R)}$, the 3.0% experimental group showed significantly the whitening effect compared to the control group and the 2.8% experimental group (P < 0.05). There were some complaints of minor side effects, but there did not find abnormal symptoms of the gingival stimulation in all groups. Conclusion: A self - applied paint - on whitening gel combined with wrap can be used as a useful self-whitening material because the whitening effect increases as the concentration of hydrogen peroxide from 2.8% to 3.0% and also no significant side effects are observed.

Most of the evaluations of environmental effect of construction of road do not run parallel with the evaluation of the propriety of the business, but it just reviews how to reduce contamination before the beginning of the construction work. This reveals the limitation of the induction of environment friendly development from the fundamental. In this study, a function of GIS spatial analysis for 9 elements of pre-evaluation of environmental effect has been introduced, and a GIS decision making system for environmental effect of a road has been established for an integrated evaluation by using individual evaluation result. By using GIS decision making system for pre-evaluation of environmental effect that has been developed in this study and the GIS data that has been collected, it would be possible to decrease time and money for evaluation as well as fulfill the requirement of objectivity. Therefore, it would be possible to apply for pre-evaluation of environmental effect when deciding on the route of the road at the beginning stage of the construction work. Also, through the system developed in this study, the construction body could easily induce a mutual agreement with the residents by the visual evaluation material, which might result in an evaluation of environmental effect while decreasing time and money at the beginning stage of the construction.

Civil engineering based on construction and maintenance of infrastructures for social and human development, it has a conservative aspects to adopt the high-technology and pace of change from ancient society. Therefore, the education of civil engineering consists of very similar contents from the past until now. Also, civil engineering, area is established the infrastructure widely included structure, geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental, surveying, construction management. Civil engineering have totally difference characteristics compared to manufacturing industry field for market interests such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material engineering etc. Therefore, the capstone design concepts of civil engineering for public interests must be changed and applied unlike any other engineering areas capstone design. In this paper, the modified capstone design contents and instruction in civil engineering of Yonsei University is informed and evaluated using undergraduate students' course evaluations and learning assessment to verify the efficiency of modified capstone design in civil engineering.

Purpose: Surface damage and bonding strength difference after micromechanical treatment of zirconia surface are to be studied yet. The aim of this study was to evaluate the difference of fracture resistance and bonding strength between more surface-damaged group from higher air-blasting particle size and pressure, and less damaged group. Materials and Methods: Disk shape zirconia ($LAVA^{TM}$) was sintered and air-blasted with $30{\mu}m$ particle size (Cojet), under 2.8 bar for 15 seconds, $110{\mu}m$ particle size (Rocatec), under 2.8 bar for 15 seconds, and $110{\mu}m$ particle size (Rocatec), under 3.8 bar for 30 seconds respectively. Biaxial flexure test and bonding failure load test were performed serially (n = 10 per group). For bonding test, specimens were bonded on the base material having similar modulus of elasticity of dentin with $200{\mu}m$-thick resin cement for tension of surface damage. Failure load of bonding was detected with acoustic emission (AE) sensor. Results: There were no significant differences both in the biaxial flexure test and bonding failure load test between groups (P > 0.05). Sub-surface cracks were all radial cracks except for two specimens. Conclusion: Within the limitations of no aging under monotonic load test, surface damage from higher air-blasting particle size and pressure was not significant. Evaluations of failure load with bonded zirconia disks was clinically relevant modality for surface damage and bonding strength, simultaneously.
