Comparison Study of MBA Education between China and Japan

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) education is growing rapidly in China, while many business schools in Japan are having difficulty in recruiting new students. The MBA education in China and Japan followed a different course and showed very different trends. In this article, we make a comparative study of MBA education in China and Japan. The emphasis is put on analyzing the reasons that caused the difference in the MBA education in the two Asian countries. We trace back the development of MBA education in China and Japan, examining the MBA education from the viewpoint of social environment, enterprise culture, and government support and control as well as the incentive and faculty management system of universities.

MSN/MBA 이중학위 프로그램 개발 (Curriculum Development of MSN-MBA Dual Degree Program)

  • Purpose: This study aimed at curriculum development of master of science in nursing(MSN) and master of business administration(MBA) dual degree program. Method: This study performed a comprehensive review of 36 foreign MSN/MBA dual degree programs and 5 MBA programs in Korea, and analyzed philosophy, objectives, required credits to graduation, core subjects and electives, admission criteria of the programs. Results: The proposal of dual degree program consisted of 60 credits which are divided into 24 nursing credits and 36 business administration credits. Another program for graduate school of nursing are composed of 38 credits which includes consists of 14 nursing credits, 20 management credits, and 4 prerequisites. condusion: The curriculum that was proposed in this study will equip nurses to meet the challenges of future healthcare provision and will be a model to other areas of nursing practice and curriculum development.

CEO Characteristics and Firm Performance: A Study of Saudi Arabia Listed Firms

  • This paper aims to investigate the impact of chief executive officer's (CEO) attributes on firms' performance. Specifically, it examines the influence of CEOs' education, professional experience, and tenure on Saudi firms' performance. We look at a sample of 120 listed firms on Tadawul stock exchange from 2014 to 2017. Data on financial and accounting variables are obtained from the annual reports of the selected companies. We follow the existing empirical literature and use a panel model and formulate three different equations using the GMM estimator. Findings prove that CEO educational background does matter. In particular, companies employing CEOs with business administration, economics, finance, or accounting degree will perform outstandingly better. Similarly, stock performance gets improved when the CEO has a postgraduate qualification, i.e., when the CEO holds an MBA, a master, or a PhD degree. Besides, results reveal that executives who have an experience in a related field will positively affect the firm's performance. Finally, evidence shows that high CEOs tenure improves corporate performance. Overall, these findings demonstrate that executives' attributes are key factors that would explain differences in Saudi firms' performance. These results would help shareholders to make the right decision in selecting CEOs to manage the company.

비도시권 고등학교 학생을 위한 진로교육 비즈니스 모형에 관한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on the Business Model for Career and Academic Counseling in Non-Urban High Schools)

  • 진로 및 학업상담교육은 학생들과의 지속적이고 일관성있는 상호작용과정이라 할 수 있다. 그렇지만 진로교육은 단순히 전공, 대학 및 직업에 대한 조언이나 상담수준에 머무르지 않는다. 학생들의 장기적인 진로관련 효능감 제고를 위해서는 진로교육 상담교사와의 지속적이고 개인적인 접촉이 요구된다. 그러나 통계조사에 의하면 비도시지역의 고등학교의 경우 대도시의 학교와는 달리 진로교육 및 상담을 전담하는 교사들의 배치율이 낮아 진로교육과 관련한 또 다른 문제에 봉착하고 있다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 상황을 다소나마 보완할 수 있는 현업전문가의 교육기부를 전제로 하는 진로교육프로그램을 제안한다. 구체적으로 대도시 MBA 동문회의 지원을 전제로 하는 사회적 기업 창업을 통해 지속가능한 서비스 제공 프로세스를 설계하고자 한다. MBA 재학생 및 동문들의 스킬, 지식, 역량 등을 활용하여 진로교육 및 상담교육 과정을 운영한다. 결론으로 비도시지역의 고등학교 학생들의 진로에 대한 동기 유발과 지속적인 관심유발을 제고할 수 있는 사회적 책임 측면에서의 편익을 강조하는 것으로 마무리하고자 한다.
