Producing what customers need with near mass production efficiency, or mass customization, has been a major trend in industry. Effective definition of customer requirements is a pre-requisite for realizing mass customization. The new method, called "Design by Customers", is proposed. The proposed method is an approach for companies to communicate to customers about what the company can offer, to find out customer needs, to assist customers in making choices and to negotiate for agreements. In this paper, the design and manufacturing capabilities in making company are represented in a Product Family Architecture. Adaptive Conjoint Analysis is then applied help customers assert their needs, defined variations from base product, visualize their options and assess alternatives. A power supplier of a electronic appliance is shown as an example to demonstrated the suggested method.ed method.

Reduction of a ship's rolling is the most important performance requirement for improving the safety of the crew on board and preventing damage to cargos as well as improving the comfort of the ride. A mass driving anti-.oiling system (MD-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. As the movable range of the mass on the ship is finite, the control system must include restriction on the mass position to protect the device and the ship. This restriction usually causes windup phenomenon and control performance is deteriorated seriously. We adopt anti-windup technique to improve the control performance and demonstrate its efficiency by simulation.

To predict the dynamic behavior of the cylindrical liquid storage tank subjected to seismic ground motion three dimesional analysis with liquid-structure interaction must be performed, In this study a three dimensional dynamic analysis method over the frequency domain using FE-BE coupling technique which combines the efficiency of the boundary elements for liquid with the versatility of the finite shell elements for tank. The liquid region is modeled using boundary elements which can counter the sloshing effect at free surface and the structure region the tank itself is modeled using the degenerated finite shell elements. At the beginning of the procedure the equivalent mass matrix of the liquid is generated by boundary elements procedure. Then this equivalent mass matrix is combined with the mass matrix of the structure to produce the global mass matrix in the equation of the motion of fluid-structure interaction problem In order to demonstrate the accuracy and validity of the developed method the numerical results re compared with the previous studies. Finally the effects of the fluid-structure interaction on the natural frequency and dynamic response of the system are analyzed.
In order to eliminate the hydration heat of mass concrete, this paper reports the results of hydration heat control in mass concrete using the OCHP (Oscillating capillary tube heat pipe). In the summarized results of the mock up experiments, distributing the heat pipe at 300 mm intervals based on the center of the test specimen was the most effective. A 200 mm turn interval for the heat pipe was measured to be the most appropriate, taking into account the reinforcement placing at the actual site. Therefore, when the hydration heat control method using the heat pipe developed in this study is applied, not only canconstruction efficiency & a reduction in the necessary construction time be expected, but so can outstanding economical effects.
Uniformly-doped silicon thin films were fabricated by ion beam sputter deposition. The thin films had four levels of copper dopant concentration ranging between 1 ${\times}$1019 and 1 ${\times}$ 1021 atoms/cm3 . Concentrations of Copper dopants were determined by the isotope dilution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to provide certified reference data for the quantitative surface analysis by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). The copper-doped thin films were dissolved in a mixture of 1 M HF and 3 M HNO3 spiked with appropriate amounts of 65 Cu. For an accurate isotope ratio determination, both the detector dead time and the mass discrimination were appropriately corrected and isobaric interference from SiAr molecular ions was avoided by a careful sample pretreatment. An analyte recovery efficiency was obtained for the Cu spiked samples to evaluate accuracy of the method. Uncertainty of the determined copper concentrations, estimated following the EURACHEM Guide, was less than 4%, and detection limit of this method was 5.58 ${\times}$ 1016 atoms/cm3.

The Suspension Trapping (S-Trap) method has been a prominent sample preparation technique since its introduction in 2014. Its capacity to induce protein aggregation using organic solvents has significantly improved protein purification and facilitated peptide identification. However, its full potential for automation has been limited by the lack of a suitable liquid handling system until recently. In this study, we aimed to enhance the automation of S-Trap sample preparation by optimizing the S-Trap digestion process, incorporating triethylammonium bicarbonate (TEAB) and CaCl2. The utilization of TEAB buffer conditions in this innovative process led to a noteworthy 12% improvement in protein identification. Additionally, through careful observation of various incubation conditions, we streamlined the entire sample preparation workflow into a concise 4 hours timeline, covering reduction, alkylation, and trypsin incubation stages. This refined and expedited automated S-Trap digestion process not only showcased exceptional time efficiency but also improved trypsin digestion, resulting in increased protein identification.
This paper presents the experimental results in five months operation from a combined anaerobic/oxic system treating swine waste with average concentrations in organic matter and nitrogen of 7,930 mgCOD/L and 671 mgTKN/L, respectively. The system was formed using an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor and oxic reactor connected in series with a recycling line of oxic effluents to UASB for its denitrification. The UASB reactor was operated at an organic volumetric loading rate (VLR) of $2.1{\sim}4.5\;kgTCOD/m^3$/day and the removal efficiency of TCOD was $66.3{\sim}85.4%$. The overall removal efficiency of TCOD was more than 99%. The oxic reactor was operated at a nitrogen VLR of $0.10{\sim}0.20\;kgTKN/m^3$/day and the nitrification efficiency was 75%. However, the complete denitrification was observed in the UASB reactor that was due to the optimal temperature and sufficient carbon source. The overall removal rate of TN was about 80%. About 76.2% of the influent COD mass was accountable in a COD mass balance at a level of VLR $3.64\;kgCOD/m^3$/day. The production rate of methane was $0.32\;LCH_4/gCOD_{removed}$ when influent organics, VLR, were recorded by $3.4{\sim}4.5\;kgCOD/m^3$/day.
In this paper, the performance analysis of condensation and evaporation capacity, turbine work and efficiency of the OTEC power system using vapor-liquid Ejector is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. The working fluid used in this system is $CO_2$. The operating parameters considered in this study include the vapor quality at heat exchanger outlet, pressure ratio of ejector and inlet pressure of low turbine, mass flow ratio of separator at condenser outlet. The main results were summarized as follows. The efficiency of the OTEC power cycle has an enormous effect on the mass flow ratio of separator at condenser outlet. With a thorough grasp of these effects, it is possible to design the OTEC power cycle proposed in this study.
MoO3 metal oxide nanostructure was formed by hydrothermal synthesis, and a perovskite solar cell with an MoO3 hole transfer layer was fabricated and evaluated. The characteristics of the MoO3 thin film were analyzed according to the change of hydrothermal synthesis temperature in the range of 100 ℃ to 200 ℃ and mass ratio of AMT : nitric acid of 1 : 3 ~ 15 wt%. The influence on the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the solar cell was evaluated. Nanorod-shaped MoO3 thin films were formed in the temperature range of 150 ℃ to 200 ℃, and the chemical bonding and crystal structure of the thin films were analyzed. As the amount of nitric acid added increased, the thickness of the thin film decreased. As the thickness of the hole transfer layer decreased, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the perovskite solar cell improved. The maximum photoelectric conversion efficiency of the perovskite solar cell having an MoO3 thin film was 4.69 % when the conditions of hydrothermal synthesis were 150 ℃ and mass ratio of AMT : nitric acid of 1 : 12 wt%.
Recently, manganese nodule has been focused on alternative resources because of its high grade of noble metallic elements such as Co, Ni, and Cu etc. From the viewpoint of an optimization the operating variables for energy efficiency of smelting reduction process, thermodynamic model for smelting reduction process of Manganese nodule was developed by using energy and material balance concept. This model provided that specific consumption of pure oxygen and coke was strongly depended on post combustion ratio (PCR) and heat transfer efficiency (HTE). The dressing and dehydrating process of low grade manganese can be proposed an essential process to minimize the specific energy consumption with decreasing slag volume. The effect of electricity coal base smelting reduction process was also discussed from the energy optimizing point of view.
