This study has investigated the Korean elderly, who had been retired, using the data from three waves(1st wave(2005)~3rd wave(2009) of the Korean Retirement and Income Panel(KReIS). Data analysis has been used to identify the predictors of the intercept and slope related to the life satisfaction after retirement, focusing the trajectories of the life satisfaction after retirement and individual characteristics, retirement characteristics and family relationship with application of the growth curve model by Amos 20.0. First, the intercept of the life satisfaction after retirement was somewhat below average. Life satisfaction averagely increased little by little from 1st wave to 3rd wave. Second, by conducting the conditional growth curve model, the study revealed that the intercept of the life satisfaction after retirement is high on individual characteristics(sex, educational level, income, health status) and in retirement characteristics(voluntary retirement) and satisfaction with family relationship and married life). Furthermore, health status, voluntary retirement, and satisfaction with family relationship asserted the meaningful variables in the slope of life satisfaction after retirement.

A total of 134 persons who were registered members of SCI organization and admitted rehabilitation unit between February and June 1999 were included in the study. The sample consisted of 69 unmarried and 64 married people with SCI. Participants answered the 15 items concerning sexual interest, sexual adjustment. The results are as follows: 1) The mean score of sexual interest for the unmarried was 16.4. From seven topics related to sexuality, the greatest interest was to cope emotionally with changes in sexual functioning. For the married, mean score of sexual interest was 13.8 and the greatest interest was to help a partner cope emotionally with limitation on sexual dysfunction. There were significant difference sexual interest between two groups (t=3.75, p= .00). 2) Each mean score for sexual adjustment in the married and the unmarried was 20.0, 19.6. There were no significance difference sexual interest between two groups (t=.24, p= .811). However, there was a statistically significant difference of sexual interest. 3) Sexual interests and adjustments are not correlated in case of the unmarried that have r score= .224, while they are corrlated in case of the married that have r= .398. Because the average age of the SCI becomes lower and lower, sexual rehabilitation programs should be given the unmarried as well as the married with SCI. In conclusion, the spinal injured's major concerns about their sexual life are different between the married and the unmarried-the unmarried are interested in practical problems such as methods and techniques to achieve sexual satisfaction and their fertility, while the married give priority to considerations about their spouse. Paying attention to different sexual interest according to marital status, we should make two different sexual rehabilitation programs for each group. One program including support groups with their sposes for the married, the other program to give a chance t o solve problems of sexuality for the unmarried with SCI.

  • Many international marriage immigrants experience a considerable amount of stress while adapting to a new culture they have never experienced before. This study examines the effects of marriage type and participation type in sport activity on marital health and marital life satisfaction. The 329 participants were divided into four groups based on marriage type and sport activity type. A multivariate analysis of variance was performed to explore differences in marital health and marital life satisfaction among groups. Results revealed that regardless of cultural and linguistic differences, respondents who enjoyed sport activities with their spouses had relatively higher mean scores across four factors(marital bond, marital communication, marital value-sharing, and marital life satisfaction) than couples who did not. This study found sport activity participation positively impacted marital life, and results would provide insightful data to help people achieve a happier married life in multicultural society.

This study randomly sampled a birth cohort between 1955 and 1963 consisting of participants living in Seoul, South Korea with a spouse and a child/children. This study investigated a total of 455 subjects from March 2 to March 20, 2016. The study findings are summarized as follows. This study analyzed the characteristics of baby boomers' family relationships and their effects on their later life preparation. It was found that 55.4% of the subjects had at least 2 children, and 44.6% had 1 child. Concerning their children's marital status, 33.8% had married children and 66.2% had unmarried children. The level of their children's support was found at 2.82 points (standard deviation [SD] = .64), which is slightly higher than the mean value of 2.5. The spouse satisfaction among the subjects was found to be 3.59 (.79) which is higher than the mean value of 3. The general status of later life preparation was 2.70 (SD = .44), which is lower than the mean value of 3. In the sub-dimension, the level of social preparation was 2.98 points (SD = .61); the level of economic preparation was 2.60 (SD = .64); and the level of physical preparation was 2.53 (SD = .45). All the values were lower than the mean value of 3. The overall status of later life preparation of the subjects in this study was low. The physical preparation level was particularly low. To analyze the factors that affect baby boomers' later life preparation, a hierarchical regression analysis was implemented. As a result, a significant effect was found in specific factors, such as spouse satisfaction (${\beta}$ = .32, p < .001), age (${\beta}$ = .26, p < .001), number of children (${\beta}$ = -.18, p <.001), health status (${\beta}$ = .18, p < .001), gender (${\beta}$ = -.11, p < .05), household income (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05), and children's marital status (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05). That is, the higher the spousal satisfaction, the older the age, and the lower the number of children, the higher the levels of later life preparation. Further, a higher level of later life preparation was observed in women, those with higher household incomes, and those with married children.
