  • According to the rapid development of IT technologies, between different technologies and weakness of entry barriers, standardization for interoperability and intercompatibility is being recognized as a core strategy for preoccupation of global IT market and strengthening of national competitive power. Recently IPR(Intellectual property Rights) including patents is considered indispensably in international standardization. Also advanced countries strengthen their positions through preemption of global IT market by linking their IPR with international standardization. Therefore relationship between IPR and standardization is being changed to mutually complementary from mutually exclusive. In this paper, we will examine ITU-T's IPR policy and related discussion trends in ITU-T and try to find national policy for IPR related issues.

  • Preannouncing a new product to its target audiences has been more and more prevalent in a wealth of industries, particularly industries that attach great importance to the speed of entry. Grounded in market signaling theory, the current research advances a theoretical model that takes full cognizance of the relation between preannounced information about an upcoming product and individual customers' behavioral intentions as well as significant moderating effects of prior product knowledge and new product innovativeness. In response, a web-based survey is conducted for data collection and the structural equation model is utilized for data analysis. Results of this study demonstrate that preannounced new product information attributes (i.e., quantity, clarity) may positively influence consumers' attitudes, in turn, lead to a favorable purchase intention. Moreover, the moderating effects of product knowledge and product innovativeness are also confirmed. Specifically, product knowledge moderates the quantity-attitude relation positively and moderates the clarity-attitude relation negatively, whereas product innovativeness does opposite. Both implications and limitations are also described.

  • This study analyzed the competitiveness of major export industries following the FTA between Korea and five Central American countries. Findings revealed that Korea mainly exports industrial products such as ships, automobiles and parts, steel, and electronic devices, and it imports raw materials and agricultural products such as coffee and copper, indicating a complementary trade structure. Similarly, the trade specialization index analysis revealed that Korea specialized in exporting industrial products such as ships, automobiles, steel, and machinery, and in importing primary products such as copper and coffee. Products such as ships, steel, and machinery, which are major export items to Central America, are expected to further strengthen their competitiveness due to tariff cuts. In addition, it is expected that the demand for medicines and medical supplies could increase in future due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study attempted to present implications for establishing export strategies by analyzing the competitiveness of Korea's major export industries in the Central American market, in accordance with the Korean-Central American FTA. These findings could be used as basic data for future entry into South America as a bridgehead in the Central American market.

  • Purpose - As the competition in the foodservice franchise industry and the market becomes fierce and the entry barrier is lowered, the foodservice franchisor and franchisees strive to increase their competitive advantage in the market. Therefore, the franchisor and franchisees use experience management strategies to enhance the positive experiences of customers visiting the stores. In this regard, this study examines the effects of customer-oriented activities (physical-, social-, health-, and service-oriented activities) on utilitarian and hedonic values, and loyalty using stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) model and value-expectancy theory. Research design, data, methodology - The data were collected from panels of online survey company, who visited a foodservice franchisee within last month. The survey was conducted for about 15 days from March 7, 2019 to March 21, 2019, and about 3,500 e-mails and messages were distributed to ask for the survey. A total 412 responded and completed the questionnaires. Of the 412 completed questionaires, 12 were discarded due to missing and misinformation data and 400 were retained for further data analysis. Results --The results showed that social oriented activities, health oriented activities, and service oriented activities had positive effects on hedonic value, while physical oriented activities did not have a significant effect on hedonic value. Health oriented activities and service oriented activities had positive effects on utilitarian value, while physical oriented activities and social oriented activities had no significant effects on utilitarian value. Hedonic and utilitarian values also have a positive effect on loyalty. Conclusions - First, food service franchises should provide services and menus in consideration of the health of customers. When a customer visits the store, franchisee should provide more health-oriented food or materials and clean and comfortable conditions so as not to threaten the health of the customer. Second, the food service franchise must build a service-oriented system. Foodservice franchisor need to provide continuous service training not only to the franchisees, but also to the employees of the franchisees. Third, franchise should design a store where customers can form social exchanges through providing various information exchange to customers and making the store as a local community center.

  • Purpose: The transition from a traditional to a modern food distribution system induces several adjustments on the supply side since supermarkets must collect food on a larger scale and with higher quality standards. This situation becomes a real challenge for small scale farmers to access supply in a modern distribution channel. This gives rise to an original solution: supplying supermarkets through farmer associations or cooperatives. Based on this context of Vietnam linking to the case of distribution science, the paper proposes an industrial organization model of the food processing system in developing countries. The model presents the competitive relationship between two competing distribution systems: a traditional and a modern one. The former is composed of several retailers that sell their products on the traditional market while the latter is based on cooperatives that collect food and negotiate with supermarkets. The current study is to discuss the conditions under which the evolution of the food distribution system occurs by using the proposed model. Research design, data, and methodology: Based on the proposed model, the study explored the quantity flow from small producers to consumers through a Nash equilibrium and address the question of farmer repartition by a free-entry equilibrium. Results: The result shows that there is a unique positive equilibrium in the food market with participation of cooperative associations; Since farmers serve cooperative associations, they not only receive quantity incentive prices but also share profits within their organization. Conclusions: This study shows a unique distribution equilibrium where the profits of farmers working for middlemen and cooperatives are maximized. Further insights were discussed.

  • Purpose - This study provides useful information to stakeholders by forecasting the tramp shipping market, which is a completely competitive market and has a huge fluctuation in freight rates due to low barriers to entry. Moreover, this study provides the most effective parameters for Baltic Dry Index (BDI) prediction and an optimal model by analyzing and comparing deep learning models such as the artificial neural network (ANN), recurrent neural network (RNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM). Design/methodology - This study uses various data models based on big data. The deep learning models considered are specialized for time series models. This study includes three perspectives to verify useful models in time series data by comparing prediction accuracy according to the selection of external variables and comparison between models. Findings - The BDI research reflecting the latest trends since 2015, using weekly data from 1995 to 2019 (25 years), is employed in this study. Additionally, we tried finding the best combination of BDI forecasts through the input of external factors such as supply, demand, raw materials, and economic aspects. Moreover, the combination of various unpredictable external variables and the fundamentals of supply and demand have sought to increase BDI prediction accuracy. Originality/value - Unlike previous studies, BDI forecasts reflect the latest stabilizing trends since 2015. Additionally, we look at the variation of the model's predictive accuracy according to the input of statistically validated variables. Moreover, we want to find the optimal model that minimizes the error value according to the parameter adjustment in the ANN model. Thus, this study helps future shipping stakeholders make decisions through BDI forecasts.

  • In order to support women with career breaks to re-enter the labor market, it is not only necessary to discover and select promising jobs, but also to provide objective and accurate job information on selected promising jobs so that women with career breaks can make reasonable career choices. need arises. It can be pointed out that the government support course has no burden of tuition compared to the general course, and because the quality of education is high, it is possible to select trainees with a high willingness to find employment through competition in the recruitment process. In addition, the government support process secures relatively high-quality programs and instructors, increasing trainees' concentration, satisfaction, and willingness to find a job. Job literacy and employment preparation education are obligatory, job design support through job counseling, and continuous follow-up support. The system also works. Accordingly, if systematic and continuous development and support are made in the process of selecting promising occupations for women with career breaks and designing education and training programs, it is expected that women with career breaks will be more active in their re-entry into the labor market.

  • The paper is to assess the recent changes in Architectural Artworks system in two regional districts, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and to propose policies for further improvement. We focused on four aspects: overall pass rate, top-ranked artists' pass rate, proportion of artists ever passed, genre proportion artworks. It is observed that quality of artworks has improved, market monopolization has been eased, and entry to the market has become more active. However, sculptures accounted for the majority. Public art is gradually changing from 'decorative art' to 'site-specific art', and seeking harmony between architecture and surrounding landscape. To keep pace with this new trend, more institutional efforts should be made: fund raising to induce artwork supplies; introducing life-span concept to secure removal and deformation of artwork; imposing artists' follow-up services; imposing penalties against poor management; and authorizing the committee to choose exhibition sites.
