A new numerical scheme solving two-phase flow, the Hybrid VOF method for improved free surface capturing has been developed by combining a volume capturing VOF method with the Level-Set reinitialization procedure. For validation, the proposed method is applied to 3-D bubble rising problem, dam breaking and the free surface flow around a commercial container ship. The calculated results by using the Hybrid VOF method with the two previously applied VOF formulations are compared with available numerical and experimental data. It is found that the new method provides more reasonable results than the two previous ones.

In general, the distribution structure of marine products is very vulnerable to the uncertainties in the process from the production to the sale, and a lot of difficulty is thus inevitable in the supply control. Such a distribution structure is a very critical issue in securing the suability of marine products through systematic quality and hygiene control of marine products, and it is thus time to discuss the method to innovate and restructuring the distribution structure of marine products. From this point of view, this study approached the flow from production to consumption in view of SCM(supply chain management) beyond the partial discussion conducted so far for the distribution structure in the field of marine products. Further, this study suggested the establishment of electronic commerce systems with a traceability system built in RFID for marine products as an alternative of redesigning distribution infrastructure in the ubiquitous environment. From the results, we assured that such an electronic commerce system would be a new measure to improve the structure currently causing inefficiency and excessive distribution cost for the distribution structure of marine products.

The high tech marine transportation infrastructure is an innovative transportation infrastructure that may be able to secure a safe transportation environment as well as efficient operation by connecting up-to-date skills including a broad range of wire and wireless communication-based information, control and electronics technologies. When integrated into the marine transportation infrastructure by the standard requirements, these standard technologies help monitor and manage navigational aids. After investigated on current status of marine transportation system, verified on integrating marine transportation systems, the standard requirements have to suggest a appropriate way of integrating marine traffic systems and proper way of using old marine traffic infrastructure.

As the wireless communication technologies are being studied for application to marine communication networks in a fusion of marine industries and IT technology, this paper proposes a HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme for reliable communication between the smart ships. Moreover, this paper evaluates the performance of the HARQ-ARQ interaction schemes through the computer simulation. In the HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme for marine network systems, as a HARQ acknowledgement is implicitly utilized as an ARQ acknowledgement. Hence, the HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme can reduce the packet delay. However, the HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme has problems caused by the error of HARQ feedback messages. Hence, this paper considers the effect of error of HARQ feedback messages on the performance of the HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme, in marine network systems. The simulation results show that the HARQ-ARQ interaction scheme can improve the delay performance of the ships in the marine network systems.

Through the revision of the Framework Act on Administrative Regulations (July 17, 2019), the government minimized regulations and applied the comprehensive negative regulation principle to enhance economic vitality. However, a legally mandatory certification system has been applied to marine pollution prevention materials and chemicals, and inspection is conducted every time a product is sold, suppressing the autonomy of manufacturers. In addition, the majority of manufacturers of marine pollution prevention materials and chemicals are small businesses; therefore, they take the approach of producing small quantities of products whenever a buyer requests an order. Consequently, the need for deregulation was raised to ensure autonomy of the market and industry, and improve efficiency in accordance with the current trend of approval, performance test, and inspection systems for marine pollution prevention materials and chemicals. In this study, problems within the current system were identified and improvement plans are proposed through comparison and analysis of domestic and foreign systems.

Strengthened regulations for atmospheric emissions from ships have created a need for new and alternative power systems that offer low emissions and high energy efficiency. Recently, new types of propulsion power systems, such as fuel cell systems that use hydrogen as an energy source, have gained serious consideration in applications requiring emission control. The purpose of this work is to certify the availability of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems equipped with recycled steam reforming fuel processors, and to compare their performance with that of extra steam reforming systems. The results demonstrate that the recycled steam reforming system has a slightly lower cell voltage and higher energy efficiency than the extra steam reforming system.

Recently, RFID technology play a key role to implement ubiquitous sensor network(USN). In this paper, we introduce trends of RFID technology, standardization, and then its applications. The purpose of this work is to suggest prosperous applications of RFID, which is applicable on marine information system, such as ship inventory management, management of container and its contents, sensing of environments within cargo hold, management of fishery boats. In case that RFID technology is utilized on marine information systems, it makes safety at sea and marine environments protection.

The purpose of resilient mounting for marine engine is to prevent noise and ship damages caused by engine vibration. Although many researches for the resilient mounting system have been carried out, these results have limit to apply on the marine engine systems. Because marine engine generally have low speed operating range and have to consider misfiring condition. In this paper, we studied the effect of engine's misfiring on the resilient mounting systems. And the influences of design parameters, such as dynamic characteristics and location angles of resilient rubber mountings, were also examined on the single and double resilient mounting systems.

Organizations worldwide make efforts to develop their management systems for business functions. The representatives of management systems include quality management system (QMS), environmental management system (EMS) and occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS). Implementing EMS and/or OHSMS in addition to QMS often requires integration of separate management systems in alignment with the organization's strategies and goals. Through the questionnaire survey on Korean marine equipment enterprises, this paper deals with the operational practices of management systems and analyzes perceptions about integrated management system (IMS). We found out the degree of perception is not sufficient enough to prepare background for IMS in Korean marine equipment enterprises. The results contribute to well understanding and successfully implementing IMS.
