Si clusters generated during the plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process have a great influence on the quality of the fabricated films. In particular, in hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin films (a-Si:H) used for thin film solar cells, Si clusters are mainly responsible for light-induced degradation. In this study, we investigated the amount of clusters incorporated into thin films using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and specially designed cluster eliminating filters, and investigated the effect of the DC grid mesh in preventing cluster incorporation. Experimental results showed that as the applied voltage of the grid mesh, which is placed between the electrode and the QCM, decreased, the number of clusters incorporated into the film decreased. This is due to the electrostatic force from the grid mesh bias, and this method is expected to contribute to the fabrication of high-quality thin films by preventing Si cluster incorporation.

In this paper, the ultra water-repellent thin films were prepared by RF PECVD. On the basis of surface morphology, chemical bonding states and plasma diagnostics, a formation model of clusters for the ultra water-repellent films was discussed from considerations of formation process and laser scattering results. Moreover, using laser scattering method, the relative change of quantity of nano-clusters or size of agglomerates could be confirmed. From the results, the films were deposited with nano-clusters and those of agglomerates, which formed in organosilicon plasma, and formation of agglomerates were depended on the deposition time.

Liquid droplets of water and argon surrounded by their vapor have been simulated by the milecular dynamics method. To explore the surface phenomena of clusters, each molecule is classified into 'liquid', 'surface', or 'vapor' with respect to the number of neighbor molecules. The contribution of a 'surface' molecule of the water cluster to the far infrared spectrum is almist the same as that of the 'liquid' molecule. Hence, the liquid-vapor interface is viewed as geometrically and temporally varying boundary of 'liquid' molecules with only a single layer of 'surface' molecules that might have different characteristics from the 'liquid' molecules. The time scale of the 'phase change' of each molecule is estimated for the argon cluster by observing the instantancous kinetic and potential energies of each molecule. To compare the feature of clusters with macroscopic droplets, the temperature dependence of the surface tension of the argon cluster is estimated.
This paper aims at drawing policy schemes to establish marine clusters so as to enhance Korea's global port competitiveness and applying them to its national management for the advancement of national economy through policy suggestions. The research method is an integrated approach(IA) that comprises SWOT Method with strategic approaches, HFP Model enhanced by KJ Method and descriptive deductions. Strategic schemes established for the SPLC are followed by the group of geographical proximity, integration of ICT, expansion of the interchange of ICT & opportunities of ET, integration of ICT services with marine technologies, supply of integrated services in the SPLC and implementation of organizational policies. In order to make a specific implementation of strategic establishment schemes of the SPLC, we need to select a promotion entity. It is advised to establish the joint organization of the public sector and the private sector, which is considered most desirable. In practice, it is to be followed by promoting support schemes of the organizational policy on the level of national management. In order to reinforce this study, further compensative and proactive researches on the offshore sector with marine clusters are required in terms of the development of the high value added 'blue' ocean.

This study was to describe and understand the experiences of the physical disabled adult attending in public welfare program. The interview data were collected from seven persons and analyzed by using descriptive phenomenology of Colazzi. The procedural steps were that described the phenomenon of interest, collected participants' descriptions of the phenomenon, extracted the meaning of significant statements, organized the meanings into them clusters, wrote exhaustive descriptions and then incorporated data into an exhaustive description. The finding in 129 re-statements, 63 constructed meanings, 35 themes, 13 theme clusters, and six categories were deduced. The six categories were 'Life patterns exclusive health', 'Powerlessness by physical disabilities', 'Social supports', 'Positive motivation', 'Seeking to be holistic health', and 'Sense of accomplishment'. The study identified that social welfare program for the disabled necessities for health, learning, economy and their future in success. Therefore, we suggest there may be a need for supplying professional program for their health and welfare.
A cDNA microarray composed of 2,028 different ESTs from two shrimp species, Penaeus monodon and Masupenaeus japonicus, was employed to identify yellow head virus (YHV)-responsive genes in hemocytes of P. monodon. A total of 105 differentially expressed genes were identified and grouped into five different clusters according to their expression patterns. One of these clusters, which comprised five genes including cathepsin L-like cysteine peptidase, hypothetical proteins and unknown genes, was of particular interest because the transcripts increased rapidly ($\leq$ 0.25 hours) and reached high expression levels in response to YHV injection. Microarray data were validated by realtime RT-PCR analyses of selected differentially expressed transcripts. In addition, comparative analysis of the hemocyte transcription levels of three of these genes between surviving and non-surviving shrimp revealed significantly higher expression levels in surviving shrimp.
To figure out the conserved genes and newly added genes at each phylogenetic level of Archaea, COG (clusters of orthologous groups of proteins) algorithm was applied. The number of conserved genes within 9 species of Archaea was 340 and that of 8 species of Euryarchaeota was 388. Many of conserved 265 COGs, which are specific to Archaea and absent in Bacteria and S. cerevisiae, were concerned with 'information storage and processing' (94 COG, 35.5%) and 'metabolism' (82 COG, 30.9%). COGs related to these functions were assumed as highly conserved and permit peculiar life form to Archaea. It seemed that there was some difference in 'nucleotide transport and metabolism' and there was little difference in 'information storage and processing' between Euryarchaeota and Crenarchaeota. Marine-origin Euryarchaeota showed different conserved COGs with terrestrial Euryarchaeota. Conserved COGs, related to carbohydrate transport and metabolism and others, were different between marine- and terrestrial-origin Euryarchaeota. Hence it was assumed that their physiology might be different. This study may help to understand the origin and conserved genes at each phylogenetic level of marine-origin Euryarchaeota and may help in the mining of useful genes in marine Archaea as Manco et al. (Arch. Biochem. Biophy. 373, 182 (2000)).
This paper presents the complete genome sequence of a novel marine actinomycete, Streptomyces sp. MMBL 11-1. The genome of Streptomyces sp. MMBL 11-1 was obtained through next-generation sequencing using the PacBio Sequel system and Illumina platform provided by Macrogen, Korea. The assembled genome consists of five contigs, with a total length of 8,496,900 bp and a G+C content of 71.6%. The genome harbors multiple biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) associated with producing microbial natural products (MNPs). The comprehensive genomic information of this type of strain will serve as a valuable resource for identifying other marine actinomycetes strains.
The symbiotic nature of the relationship between algae and marine bacteria is well-studied among the complex microbial interactions. The mutual profit between algae and bacteria occurs via nutrient and vitamin exchange. It is necessary to analyze the genome sequence of a bacterium to predict its symbiotic relationships. In this study, the genome of a marine bacterium, Pseudoruegeria sp. M32A2M, isolated from the south-eastern isles (GeoJe-Do) of South Korea, was sequenced and analyzed. A draft genome (91 scaffolds) of 5.5 Mb with a DNA G+C content of 62.4% was obtained. In total, 5,101 features were identified from gene annotation, and 4,927 genes were assigned to functional proteins. We also identified transcription core proteins, RNA polymerase subunits, and sigma factors. In addition, full flagella-related gene clusters involving the flagellar body, motor, regulator, and other accessory compartments were detected even though the genus Pseudoruegeria is known to comprise non-motile bacteria. Examination of annotated KEGG pathways revealed that Pseudoruegeria sp. M32A2M has the metabolic pathways for all seven vitamin Bs, including thiamin (vitamin B1), biotin (vitamin B7), and cobalamin (vitamin B12), which are necessary for symbiosis with vitamin B auxotroph algae. We also identified gene clusters for seven secondary metabolites including ectoine, homoserine lactone, beta-lactone, terpene, lasso peptide, bacteriocin, and non-ribosomal proteins.
