  • Augmenting-reducing evoked potentials(AREP) were studied in 38 college students to explore the topographic distribution between AR slope and personality. The Zuckerman Seeking Scale(SSS) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ) assessed personality. There was a significant positive correlation between AR slope and Extraversion-Introversion(E) in the frontocentral area ; the right posterior area showed a significant negative correlation with E. The Thrill and Adventure Seeking(TAS) subscale showed a significant negative correlation with slope in the right posterior temporal area. The average slope map of all subjects revealed a distribution showing more augmenting in frontocentral areas and more reducing in posterior areas.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel applying method of Mobile IPv6 service into the UMTS to solve the mapping problems in the GGSN TFT packet filter. The mobility management tables or the GGSN should be maintained as the same as the MN and the CN. Our proposed scheme copes with the problem when the RO procedure is not normally performed by using Mobile IPv6 signaling packets in the GGSN and adding a function block in the UMTS. To show the performance of our proposed algorithm, we accomplish the simulations of measuring the delay time in the cases of success and failure of the RO procedure. Also, the amount of transmission is observed when the packet transmission is assured in the case of the successful RO procedure.

  • Bit allocation or quantizer assigning problem is a basic and essential issue in lossy picture coding. It could be represented as minimizing overall distortion with the given constraint that total bits should not exceed allowed bit-budget. Optimal solution can be found by Lagrangian method. However this method needs much computational time and memory. This paper presents an approximation method that uses the activity measure. The comparison between the existing activity measuring techniques are made, and mapping function from activity value to the quantizer is proposed. Under MPEG-1 Intra coding situation, simulations show almost identical results compared to the optimal ones obtained by Lagrangian method with reduced computational time.

  • This paper presents an optimization algorithm for a stable Dynamic Neural Network (DNN) using genetic algorithm. Optimized DNN is applied to a problem of controlling nonlinear dynamical systems. DNN is dynamic mapping and is better suited for dynamical systems than static forward neural network. The real time implementation is very important, and thus the neuro controller also needs to be designed such that it converges with a relatively small number of training cycles. SDNN has considerably fewer weights than DNN. The object of proposed algorithm is to the number of self dynamic neuron node and the gradient of activation functions are simultaneously optimized by genetic algorithms. To guarantee convergence, an analytic method based on the Lyapunov function is used to find a stable learning for the SDNN. The ability and effectiveness of identifying and controlling, a nonlinear dynamic system using the proposed optimized SDNN considering stability' is demonstrated by case studies.

  • For the application of the neutron flux mapping, an accurate calculation of the sensitivity is required because the sensitivity is proportional to the neutron flux density. Sensitivity is defined as the current per unit length per unit neutron flux and it mainly depends on the depression factor(f), the escape probability from the emitter($\varepsilon$1) and the charge build-up factor of the insulator layer(c). A Monte Carlo simulation was accomplished to calculate the sensitivity of rhodium emitter material and alumina(Al$_2$O$_3$) insulator with a cylindrical geometry, based on the (n,${\beta}$) interaction and on other interaction including the secondary electron generation for the more accurate estimation of the sensitivity. From the simulation results, factors fur the sensitivity were accurately calculated and compared with other theoretical and experimental values. In addition, the sensitivity linearly increases and saturates as the emitter radius increases. The accomplished method is useful in the analysis for the change of SPND sensitivity as a function of burn-up and in the optimum design of SPND.

  • An optimal EEG and artifact classifier is proposed using neural network operating characteristics. The neural network operating characteristics are two dimensional parametric representations of the right and false identification probabilities of the network classifier. Since the EEG and EP signals acquired from multi -channel electrodes placed on the head surface are often interfered by other relatively large physiological signals such as electromyogram (EMG) or electroculogram (EOG), the removal of the artifact-affected EEGs is one of the key elements in neuro-functional mapping. Conventionally this task has been carried out by human experts spending lots of examination time. Using the neural-network based classification, human expert's efforts and time can be substantially reduced. From experiments, the neural-network based classification performs as good as human experts: variation of decisions between the neural network and human expert appears even smaller than that between human experts.

  • A simple iterative design method is presented for the miniaturized dielectric filter with finite transimmission zeros. Circuit-network transformations are used to place transission zeros in the stop band. This method is simple and quick compared with conventional pole-synthesis methods. the design of the coupling EM patternof the filter needs the much computation time because its design is carried out through the field simulatior. In this paper, an efficient implementation technique of coupling circuit parameters is presented. This technique uses a linear mapping function between the circuit parameter domain and EM parameter domain to save the high computational time of EM simulator. A narrow band asymmetric filter with a transmission zero is designed and fiblicated through these technique in 1900 MHz band.

  • This paper presents the unified user equipment (UE) baseband modulation and demodulation (modem) hardware platform architecture to support multiple radio access technologies. In particular, this platform selectively supports two systems; one is HEDGE system, which is the combination of third generation partnership project (3GPP) Release 7 high speed packet access evolution (HSPA+) and global system for mobile communication (GSM)/general packet radio service (GPRS)/enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE), while the other is LEDGE system, which is the combination of 3GPP Release 8 long term evolution (LTE) and GSM/GPRS/EDGE. This is done by applying the flexible pin multiplexing scheme to a hardwired pin mapping process. On the other hand, to provide stable connection, high portability, and high debugging ability, the stacking structure is employed. Here, a layered board architecture grouped by functional classifications is applied instead of the conventional one flatten board. Based on this proposed configuration, we provide a framework for the verification step in wireless cellular communications. Also, modem function/scenario test and inter-operability test with various base station equipments are verified by system requirements and scenarios.

  • Classification is presented in the curriculum of elementary school mathematics, science, Korean language, and integrated subjects as the major function that needs to be learned. In addition, mathematics textbooks teach the classification as a basic process for organizing and interpreting collected materials in a separate unit. So, we analyzed the curriculum documents and textbooks of mathematics, science, Korean language, and integrated subjects. And we explored how to teach the classification in the context of mathematics subject. As a result, it is necessary to find different classification criteria in conjunction with detailed observation and investigation activities, and to teach that considering the circumstances and purpose of the classification. It also provided implications on how to revive converged classes that focus on big ideas and skills, which are commonly offered by various subjects.

  • Some computational approaches are needed for clarifying RNAi sequences, because it takes much time and endeavor that almost of RNAi sequences are verified by experimental data. Incorrectness of RNAi mechanism and other unaware factors in organism system are frequently faced with questions regarding potential use of RNAi as therapeutic applications. Our massive parallelized pair alignment scoring between dsRNA in Genebank and expressed sequence tags (ESTs) in Caenorhabditis elegans Genome Sequencing Projects revealed that this provides a useful tool for the prediction of RNAi induced cosuppression details for practical use. This pair alignment scoring method using high performance computing exhibited some possibility that numerous unwanted gene silencing and cosuppression exist even at high matching scores each other. The classifying the relative higher matching score of them based on GO (Gene Ontology) system could present mapping dsRNA of C. elegans and functional roles in an applied system. Our prediction also exhibited that more than 78% of the predicted co-suppressible genes are located in the ribosomal spot of C. elegans.
