  • In case manufacturing COF, through hole should be made to be used for a pathway connecting the conductive layers of its both faces. In case Cu-plating inside of through hole with electroless plating way, contact between Cu and PI film gets bad to be fell apart from PI by the impact of applying to the electric devices. Therefore, after sputtering is applying on inner through hole, then a method to perform electroplating process. In this study, after changing sputtering condition to manufacture FCCL, we looked the changeability of the upper PI and inner hole Cu layers. Making use of RF Magnetron sputtering equipment, we coated Cu thin film and Cu-plated on it through electroplating. After cold-mounting the completed FCCL, we examined hole section through an optical microscope. From the result of test, with parameters deposition pressure and deposition time, both the thickness of the hole plated layer and PI plated upper layer increased at regular rate, increasing the thickness of Cu sputter layer. However, from the result of test in increasing RF-power, we could know the increment rate of hole plated layer is considerably greater than that of PI plated upper layer. Therefore, we finally acquired good result; if you want only to increase the plated layer of inner hole, it's much better to increase RF-power.

  • Recently, weight reduction of vehicles has been of great interest and consequently the use of low-density materials in the automotive industry is increasing every year. However, the substitution of one material for another is not simple because it accompanies several problems, for example, weakness in the strength and stiffness and difficulty in the joining. To overcome these problems, the structure of the automobile redesigned totoally. Aluminum spaceframe is rapidly being adopted as a body structure for accommodating lightness, stiffness and strength requirement. In aluminum spaceframe manufacturing, it is often required to join aluminum tube. However, there are few suitable methods for joining aluminum tube, so that much interest has been focused on testing suitable joining methods. Joining by electromagnetic forming (EMF) can be useful method in joining aluminum tube, which offers some advantages compared with the conventional joining methods. In this paper, joining by EMF was investigated as a pre-study for applying an automotive spaceframe. Finite element simulations and strength tests were performed to analyze the influence of geometric parameters on joint strength. Based on these results, configurations of axial joint and torque joint were suggested and guidelines for designing EMF joint were established.

  • This paper explores a quantitative decision-making system for planning production, inventories and work-force in a multi-item production system. The Multi-item Parametric Decision Rule (MPDR) model, which assumes the existence of two types of linear feed-back rules, one for work-force level and one for production rates, is basically an extension of the existing method of Parametric Production Planning (PPP) proposed by C.H. Jones. The MPDR model, however, explicitly considers the effect of manufacturing progress and other factors such as employee turn-over, difference in work-days between month etc., and it also provides decision rules for production rates of individual items. First, the cost relations of the production system are estimated in terms of mathematical functions, and then decision rules for work-force level and production rates of individual items are establised based upon the estimated objective cost function. Finally, a direct search technique is used to find a set of parameters which minimizes the total cost of the objective function over a specified planning horizon, given estimates of future demands and initial values of inventories and work-force level. As a case problem, a hypothetical decision rule is developed for a particular firm (truck assembly factory).

  • The measurement method is proposed for performance-evaluation of bus system in this paper. The cycle tin in manufacturing system that sensor and actuator play on the role is important factor for performance-evaluation. In order to measure cycle time, proposed method is based on simple algorithm. But it must consider delay elements in PLC and it's peripheral. The test of the cycle time is divided into the best case and the worst case and parameters are set corresponding to two cases for the improvement of measurement result It is shown that the proposed method is efficient by measuring the cycle time of the fieldbus basing on the mathematics model. As a result, due to simplicity and convenience of proposed method, the engineering cost and time demanding for test of cycling time can much reduce.

  • Advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology requires methods to maximize tool efficiency and improve product quality by reducing process variability. Real-time plasma process monitoring and diagnosis have become crucial for fault detection and classification (FDC) and advanced process control (APC). Additional sensors may increase the accuracy of detection of process anomalies, and optical monitoring methods are non-invasive. In this paper, we propose the use of a chromatic data acquisition system for real-time in-situ plasma process monitoring called the Plasma Eyes Chromatic System (PECS). The proposed system was initially tested in a six-inch research tool, and it was then further evaluated for its potential to detect process anomalies in an eight-inch production tool for etching blanket oxide films. Chromatic representation of the PECS output shows a clear correlation with small changes in process parameters, such as RF power, pressure, and gas flow. We also present how the PECS may be adapted as an in-situ plasma arc detector. The proposed system can provide useful indications of a faulty process in a timely and non-invasive manner for successful run-to-run (R2R) control and FDC.

  • Power factor improvement at high temperatures has been a major research topic for the development of skutterudite thermoelectric materials. Here, we attempted to optimize the process parameters for manufacturing skutterudite materials, especially for p-type systems. We focused on the effect of aging time variation to maximize the high-temperature performance of the Ce-filled Fe3CoSb12 skutterudite system. The optimized aging time was concluded to be a key parameter for the formation of single-phase nanostructures in this p-type skutterudite system. The optimized condition was effective in reducing the bipolar effect at high temperature ranges by increasing the carrier concentration in the p-type system. To confirm the conclusions, the electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, and power factor were measured. The results matched well with the microstructure and with those of an XRD analysis performed for the system.

  • Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is one of the most important processes for enabling sub-14 nm semiconductor manufacturing. Moreover, post-CMP defect control is a key process parameter for the purpose of yield enhancement and device reliability. Due to the complexity of device with sub-14 nm node structure, CMP-induced defects need to be fixed in the CMP in-situ cleaning module instead of during post ex-situ wet cleaning. Therefore, post-CMP in-situ cleaning optimization and cleaning efficiency improvement play a pivotal role in post-CMP defect control. CMP in-situ cleaning module normally consists of megasonic and brush scrubber processes. And there has been an increasing effort for the optimization of cleaning chemistry and brush scrubber cleaning in the CMP cleaning module. Although there have been many studies conducted on improving particle removal efficiency by brush cleaning, these studies do not consider the effects of brush contamination. Depending on the process condition and brush condition, brush cross contamination effects significantly influence post-CMP cleaning defects. This study investigates brush cross contamination effects in the CMP in-situ cleaning module by conducting experiments using 300mm tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) blanket wafers. This study also explores brush pre-treatment in the CMP tool and proposes recipe effects, and critical process parameters for optimized CMP in-situ cleaning process through experimental results.

  • Cognition and control of grinding trouble occurring during the grinding process are classified into a quantitative knowledge which depends on experimental data and qualitative knowledge which relies on skiful engineers. grinding operations include a large number of functional parameters since there are several ways of coping with ginding trouble. One is the qualitative method which depends on empirical knowledge utilizing the skilful experts from the workshop the other is the quantitative method which utilizes the experimental data obtained by sensor. But they are all difficult to accomplish from the grinding trouble-shooting system The reason is that grinding troubles are not accomplish from the grinding trouble-shooting system,. The rason is that grinding troubles are not easily controlled in the quantitative method and therefore trouble-shooting has mainly relied on the knoledge of skiful engineers. Thus there is an important issue of how a grinding touble-shooting system can be designed and what knowledge is utilized among the large amount of grinding trouble information. In this paper basic strategy to develop the grinding database by taking rule-based model which is strongly depended upon experience and intuition is described.

  • In order to produce high-quality optical components, aspheric lenses have been widely applied in recent years. An aspheric lens consists of aspheric surfaces instead of spherical ones, which causes difficulty in the design process as well as the manufacturing procedure. Although injection molding is widely used to fabricate optical lenses owing to its high productivity, there remains lots of difficulty to determine appropriate mold design factors and injection molding parameters. In the injection molding fields, computer simulation has been effectively applied to analyze processes based on the shell analysis so far. Considering the geometry of optical lenses, however, numerical analysis based on solid elements has been reported as more reliable approach than shell -based one. The present work covers three-dimensional injection molding simulation using MP1/Flow3D and relevant deformation analysis of an injection molded plastic lens based on solid elements. Numerical analysis has been applied to the injection molding processes of an aspheric lens for a photo pick-up device. The reliability of the proposed approach has been verified in comparison with the experiments.
