Work-related low back pain(below LBP) is one of the major cause of morbidity, disability, limitation of activity and economic loss. Therefore the work-related LBP is one of the major issue in the field of industrial safety and health. This study was performed for detecting the risk factors and proposing the effective control programs of work-related LBP. The subjects were male workers employed at the welding and metal factory. The data was collected by self-reported questionnaire, interview and checking abdomen muscular and grasping power for two days on October, 1993. The contents of questionnaire were as follow: the experience of LBP, general characteristics, physical characteristics, employment status, type of work and working environment. The number of cases was 104 with a history of work-related LBP, so the prevalence of work-related LBP was 35.0%, and the number of controls was 140 without any history of LBP. As a result, marital status, educational level, abdomen muscular power, tenure, category of job, satisfaction of job, working posture, satisfaction for table and chair and lifting materials showed a statistical significance between the case and control groups. 284 Lifting jobs were quantified by NIOSH lifting equation method and ergonomic computer modelling methods. There were no significant differences in the action limit and disc compression force between group with LBP and without LBP. But in the lifting frequency and cumulative disc compression force there were significant differences. Therefore work-related LBP should be prevented by the ergonomic and environmental control.
The properties of various grains used for the solid-state cultivation of basidiomycetes were examined. The hydration time with cold water was 10 hours for malt soybean. The required hydration time for Job's tears, barley and wheat was 4, 6 and 12 hours, respectively, but the final moisture content ranged from 30 to 48 %, which was much less than the optimum moisture content for mycelial growth. For the mass cultivation of mycelia, the hydrated grains with cold water were placed in plastic bottles. The mycelial growth ra in e bottled grains was high in the early stage with inoculation of homogenized mycelium. The mycelium activity was maintained by adding sterilized water in the middle of the cultivation period. Jupjang underwent sensory evaluation to examine the possibility of utilizing basidiomycetes in functional foods. The grains fermented with Ganoderma lucidum was the best for Jupjang. The combination of malt soybean and Job's tears was the best for Jupjang. The acceptability of Jupjang was improved during the period of aging time.
The purpose of this study was to identify the observable symptoms of musculoskeletal disease from electronic components manufacturing workers who involved in many repetitive tasks and to provide the basic data for the prevention and management. The survey was conducted on 721 people from 15 April, 2013 to 17 May, 2013 by selfrecording type. The results of the study are as follows. First, symptom complaints based on different body parts are in following order, waist was 12.9%, shoulder was 10.5%, neck was 7.4%, hand/wrist/finger was 7.4%, leg/foot was 4.4%, arm/elbow was 2.8%, and 21.9% of the respondents showed symptoms in more than one body part. Sex, age, marital status, work experience, work intensity, and past accident experience were statistically significant. Second, in the job stress evaluation, all male and female workers were below the median of Korean workers in all of 8 categories. the higher the scores for lack of job autonomy, the higher the symptom complaints of musculoskeletal disease. In the case of patients complain observable symptoms of musculorskeletal disease, they should receive proper outpatient treatment, various programs such as stretching by body parts, setting up a desirable working posture, switching to cyclical work, should b developed as much as possible.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of perceptions of work and family life on employee job satisfaction and to form a policy approach that contributes to the enhancement of worker satisfaction. In particular, we wanted to analyze how the characteristics of each variable appeared in industry groups with different gender ratios of workers. A notable point of the study was that the respondents who answered that work and family had similar importance were satisfied with their working conditions. In addition, it was found that the higher an employee's evaluation of the work-family reconciliation policy, the higher the employee's satisfaction with their working conditions. As a result of a path analysis, it was found that the most male-dominant industry was manufacturing, and the most female-dominant industry was health and social welfare. In the case of respondents who were employed in the most-male dominant industry, the degree of an employee's understanding of the work-family reconciliation policy recognition, rather than the relative priorities of work and family life, had a greater effect on job satisfaction. On the other hand, respondents who were employed in the most-female dominant industry confirmed that their level of education was highly related to the degree of institutional recognition.

This study analyzed the effect of small maufacturing businesses' company culture on organizational performance. The study results showed that personal culture(one's organizational commitment) positively affected job satisfaction and improving creativity. Organizational culture(harmony of organization) and environmental culture(importance of environmental factors) didn't significantly affected organizational perfirmance. Also, organizational commitment was varied by employee's position, harmony of organization was varied by age, education and continuous service year, job satisfaction and creativity was varied by education. This study provided implications for analyzing the importance of personal organizational environmental factors and dicovering individual diffrences of the employees.

This study was performed to determine the depression and its association with sleep quality, occupational stress and fatigue among small-scale manufacturing male workers. The self-administered questionnaires were given to 856 workers under 50 members of manufacturing industries during the period from April 1st to June 30th, 2010. As a results, the distribution of depression group(21 point and over at CES-D score) among all subjects were 44.3%, and it was positively correlated with occupational stress, fatigue and quality of sleep. With the analysis of covariance structure, occupational stress(KOSS) was more influential on the depression than quality of sleep and fatigue. It was found to have the inter-relational effects that the higher the occupational stress(KOSS) and fatigue(MFS), and the lower the quality of sleep, the higher the depression. Thus the effective strategy for depression reduction among workers requires the efforts to improve the work environment and job contents.

This study was conducted to find out the complaint rate of musculo-skeletal disorder and its related factors from male manufacturing workers at a nonferrous manufacturing industry. As for the research subjects, 302 workers selected from a nonferrous manufacturer located in Daejeon City, and as for the collection of data, a standardized anonymous questionnaire survey were conducted from May 1, 2011 to June 30, 2011. As a results, the complaint rate of musculo-skeletal disorders by each body part, the symptom of shoulders was 42.7%, the highest rate, followed by the waist, 36.8%, the neck and the hand/wrist/finger, 30.5% respectively, the leg and foot, 30.1% and arm/elbow, 20.9%. The complaint rate of musculo-skeletal disorder for the sociodemographic characteristics was significantly high as survey participants' age and BMI were low and in the group having low subjective health condition. The complaint rate of musculo-skeletal disorder for the health-related behavior characteristics was significantly high in the group having been absent from work due for diseases, in the group having received outpatient services, in the group having been hospitalized for treatment, in the group not having a regular exercise and in the group having insufficient sleeping hours. Finally, the complaint rate of musculo-skeletal disorder for the job-related characteristics was significantly high in the group suffering from the physical burden of their work, in the group working while bending at the waist and in the group carrying out repetitive tasks.
Startups play an important role in economic growth and job creation in niche markets, thus governments regularly expand their research and development(R&D) budgets accordingly. As stratups are more dependent on governments to compensate for insufficient resources and capabilities than large and medium-sized companies, trust in government policies will be important. In this study, we analyzed the impact of startups' trust in government R&D policies on innovation performance. There were three major results. The first result is that government R&D investments in startups increase innovation performance in the manufacturing and high-technology industries but did not affect other industries. The second result is that trust in government R&D policies increased innovation in high-and medium-high technology and manufacturing industries. The third result is that trust in government R&D policies affects innovation before, during, and after evaluation of support process. We analyzed the importance of trust to the effectiveness of government R&D support to determine how to effectively provide it. The results show that governments need to differentiate the types of R&D support they provide according to the target firm's technology level and whether they are a manufacturing company and that appropriate R&D support mechanism should be developed for low-technology and non-manufacturing companies. Finally, governments should allocate resources and make fair and transparent decisions to help companies grow, not to better supervise them.

The study is about domestic industries following the migration of hubs (innovation, manufacturing) to other countries and the hub-oriented US industries (batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles). Additionally, the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China may have also played a role in companies moving their operations to the United States. The result of such a move could potentially include job creation in the United States, as well as increased investment in the U.S. manufacturing sector. However, it is also possible that there could be negative consequences, such as higher prices for consumers or disruptions to supply chains during the relocation process. However, such IRA, Chips Act scenario would likely also have negative consequences (Inflation in the home country) for the countries whose industries moved to the US, as they would lose jobs, investment, and possibly face economic difficulties as a result. As the result of the empirical analysis of the export scale of Korea and the United States, changes in the movement of global supply hubs are related to factors such as geopolitical price increases and consumption declines. In order to respond to these changes, this paper emphasizes the need to prevent the result of de-advantage by moving the production area of the scale.

The roles of fashion merchandisers (merchandise managers) in women's apparel industry and their perceptions of the job requirements as a fashion merchandiser were investigated to understand present fashion merchandising activities in the industry and suggest desirable roles of fashion merchandiser for further development of the industry. The research questionnaires were administered to fashion merchandisers working in the ten national brand women's apparel firms. The results of the study were as follows . 1. Annual sales volumes of most surveyed firms were more than five billions won and eight out of ten surveyed firms have fashion merchandisers in their firms. 2. Fashion merchandisers worked at a specific brand merchandising division sales and operations division or merchandise planning division. A fashion merchandiser generally supervised one brand. 3. Fashion merchandiser's work experience ranged from four to fifteen years showing a great deal of experience in the apparel industry. Their majors at university were mostly business and few majored in clothing and textiles, or textiles. 4. In general, the role of fashion merchandiser was a management specialist who was responsible for identifying target markets analyzing fashion trends, planning of the merchandise development budget planning, manufacturing planning, selling, advertising and sales promotion and distributing the merchandise. At some firms fashion merchandi-sers were not responsible for advertising, display, and receiving the orders. 5. Surveyed fashion merchandisers perceived the desirable fashion merchandiser's role as a management specialist conducting overall business activities in the areas of merchandise planning, manufacturing, selling and distribution. They also mentioned the following personal characteristics such as vision leadership, and persuasion as desirable characteri-stics for those who aspire to a career in fashion merchandising. 6. Surveyed fashion merchandisers emphasized relevant and realistic experiences in fashion merchandising education. Several ways were suggested to help the educator keep in touch with business and bring reality to students. They are . field work, bringing professionals into the classroom to speak to the students, emphasizing clothing and textiles education including merchandising area, and establishing a Department of Fashion Merchandising.
