Five dogs presented with a history of pelvic limb lameness. On physical examination of the stifle joints, five dogs had pain, lameness, patellar luxation, or ligamentous instability. Craniocaudal and mediolateral radiographic projections revealed osteophytes or subchondral cystic lesions on the stifle joints. Based on a previously described Osteoarthrosis (OA) scoring technique, five dogs showed high OA scores. Combination of surgery and implantation of autologous adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (aAT-MSCs) or percutaneous injection of aAT-MSCs was determined with informed consent. $1{\times}10^6$ aAT-MSCs suspended in PBS was injected in the stifle joints. The follow-ups were completed 12 months after surgery. The follow-up information was based on physical examination by veterinarians. The lameness, pain on manipulation, and OA scores improved six or 12 months after implantation of aAT-MSCs. There was a radiographic evidence of decreased osteophytes and subchondral cystic lesions. These results suggest that implantation of aAT-MSCs can be considered an option for management of cases of OA in the stifle joints.

In a single frequency network (SFN) for Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) terrestrial digital television (DTV) system, the interferences induced by the multiple transmitters and/or repeaters using the same frequency are inevitable. Since the presence of interferences results in performance degradation of the SFN, it is crucial to manipulate the interferences by adjusting the transmit power and timing of each transmitter and repeater. In the ATSC terrestrial DTV system, in order to facilitate the interference manipulation process, a transmitter identification (TxID) signal which is uniquely embedded in the signal to be transmitted from each transmitter and repeater is recommended. Even though the injection level of the TxID signal is much lower than the DTV signal, the TxID signal injection infects the DTV signal. Hence, the effect of the TxID signal on the DTV signal must be investigated before deployment. In this paper, the effect of the TxID signal on the performance of legacy DTV receivers under additive white Gaussian noise and multipath channel environments is investigated not only with computer simulation but also with laboratory and field tests. The test results show that the average threshold of visibility degradation of the legacy DTV receivers due to the TxID signal injection is less than 0.2 dB at the TxID injection level of -30 dB.

This study investigated verbal and physical interactions which appeared in collaborative science concept learning using augmented reality. Twelve 10th grade students participated in this study. After being organized into three four-member small groups, they participated in classes using smart device-based augmented reality application developed for the understanding of the chemical bonding concept. Their class activities were audio- and video-taped. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. The results revealed that within individual statement units of verbal interaction, the proportions of information question/explanation and direction question/explanation were found to be high. Within interaction units, the proportions of reformative and cumulative interaction were relatively high. The proportions of progress were also found to be high within both individual statement units and interaction units of verbal interaction. Students' physical interactions were mainly conducted without meaningful verbal interactions. When their physical interactions were accompanied by knowledge construction-related verbal interactions, the proportions of gazing virtual objects and worksheet-related interactions were high. In contrast, various exploratory activities related to the manipulation of markers mainly appeared when they conducted physical interactions only, or when their physical interactions were accompanied by management-related verbal interactions. On the bases of the results, effective methods for collaborative concept learning using augmented reality in science education are discussed.

Cryptographic algorithms are used to prevent the illegal manipulation of data. They are divided into public-key cryptosystems and symmetric-key cryptosystems. Public-key cryptosystems require considerable time for encryption and decryption compared to symmetric-key cryptosystem. On the other hand, key management, and delivery are easier for public-key cryptosystems than symmetric-key cryptosystems because different keys are used for encryption and decryption. Furthermore, hash functions are being used very effectively to verify the integrity of the digital content, as they always generate output with a fixed size using the data of various sizes as input. This paper proposes a method using RSA public-key cryptography and a hash function to determine if a digital image is deformed or not and to detect the manipulated location. In the proposed method, the entire image is divided into several blocks, 64×64 in size. The watermark is then allocated to each block to verify the deformation of the data. When deformation occurs, the manipulated pixel will be divided into smaller 4×4 sub-blocks, and each block will have a watermark to detect the location. The safety of the proposed method depends on the security of the cryptographic algorithm and the hash function.
To determine if body weight change is directly related to altered leptin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) gene expression, we assessed adipose tissue weight, percent body fat, leptin and NPY mRNA levels and serum leptin concentration in pigs at weights of 1, 20, 40, 60, and 90 kg. The results indicated that the weight of adipose tissues and the percent body fat of pigs significantly increased and correlated with body weight (BW) from 1 to 90 kg (p<0.01). Serum leptin concentrations and leptin mRNA levels in omental adipose tissue (OAT) increased from 1 to 60 kg, and then decreased from 60 to 90 kg. At 60 kg, the serum leptin concentration and leptin mRNA level significantly increased by 33.5% (p<0.01) and 98.2% (p<0.01), respectively, as compared with the levels at 1 kg. At 60 kg, the amount of leptin mRNA in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) was significantly higher than that of 1 and 40 kg animals (p<0.05). NPY gene expression in the hypothalamus also changed with BW and at 60 kg the NPY mRNA level significantly decreased by 54.0% (p< 0.05) as compared with that in 1 kg. Leptin mRNA in OAT was correlated with serum leptin concentrations (r = 0.98, p<0.01), body weight (r = 0.82, p<0.05) and percent body fat (r = 0.81, p<0.05). This is the first report of the developmental expression of leptin in porcine OAT, peritoneal adipose tissue (PAT) and SAT, and proves that the expression of leptin in OAT could reflect the levels of circulating leptin. These results provide some information for nutritional manipulation of leptin secretion which could lead to practical methods of controlling appetite and growth in farm animals, thereby regulating and improving efficiency of lean meat production and meat production quality.
Image segmentation methods partition an image into meaningful regions. For image composition and analysis, it is desirable for the partitioned regions to represent meaningful objects in terms of human perception and manipulation. Despite the recent progress in image understanding, however, most of the segmentation methods mainly employ low-level image features and it is still highly challenging to automatically segment an image based on high-level meaning suitable for human interpretation. The concept of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) can be applied to operator-assisted image segmentation in a manner that a human operator provides guidance to automatic image processing by interactively supplying critical information about object boundaries. Intelligent Scissors and Snakes have demonstrated the effectiveness of human-assisted segmentation [2] [1]. This paper presents a method for interactive image segmentation for more efficient and effective detection and tracking of object boundaries. The presented method is partly based on the concept of Intelligent Scissors, but employs the well-established Canny edge detector for stable edge detection. It also uses "sewing method" for including weak edges in object boundaries, and 5-direction search to promote more efficient and stable linking of neighboring edges than the previous methods.
This study examined the effects of SSI argumentation program on the preservice biology teachers' decision-making types and communication ability. The SSI argumentation program was developed based on 'Social Decision-Making & Problem-Solving strategy' and Toulmin's argumentation pattern. The preservice teachers had opportunities of SSI argumentation through small group discussions. They were asked to identify the issues regarding SSI, think of solutions, and make a decision along with claims, warrants, data, and rebuttals. The preservice biology teachers experienced four SSI topics of abortion, euthanasia, gene manipulation, artificial intelligence. The results indicated that the preservice biology teachers significantly improved the communication ability after the intervention, but they did not change their types of decision-making. In addition, after the intervention, the Pearson correlation results indicated that 'the logical type' of decision-making significantly relates to the communication ability(p<.01). The preservice biology teachers mentioned that they improved their ability of considering warrants, data, background information, context, and rebuttals. Further, the preserivce biology teachers mentioned that they became take an interest in socioscientific issues and improved their ability of accepting criticism from others as well as caring about others when they argue each other. This study implicated that the SSI argumentation program has effects on improving personality education in school science.
Since areas of pain and dysfunction of musculoskeletal typically suffered by the patients with back disorders spread all over the body, WBIP(GCM Program) for the primary treatment and management is required. The purpose of this study is to analyze if WBIP(GCM Program) based on the hyper/hypomobility pattern of Four Body Types can identify the effective treatment of back disorders and the effect on the postural balanced restoration of the spine and extremities. Non-specific back disorder is still a major reason for sick leave. And moreover, its been reported that there was often recurrence to the patients whose symptom had been diminished. As a WBIP(GCM Program) based on kinematic chain patterns of Four Body Types, this study gave a new information on the effective diagnosis, treatment and management of non-specific back disorders. 337 patients above the twenty-five years old with the non-specific back disorders at the hospital and oriental medical clinics at Kyungnam and Busan areas in South Korea from August 24th, 2000 to Feb 23rd, 2001 have randomly been assigned to four experimental groups such as Whole Body Intervention Program Group, Physical Therapy Group like modality treatments, Acupuncture-Treatment Group, and Placebo Control Group. According to intervention program applied to the each four group for three times per week(twelve times per 4weeks), as the time-series methods, we compared and evaluated the body status of the pretest with that of post treatment completion of four week, three month, and six month, respectively. As the analytical method of measurement, our researchers used the Moire Interferometry Unit and Postural Kit that could measure the postural balance of spine and extremities. The collection of data was performed in the designated hospital and oriental medical clinics. For the analysis of the data, the SPSS 10.0 package program was used. X2-test has been taken in order to compare and analyze characteristics and GPES of the patients in four experimental groups. Repeated Measure ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test has been adopted in order to compare the effects of the balanced restoration of the spine and extremities among four Groups categorized for this study. Statistical significance was accepted at the 0.05 level of confidence The effect of the balanced restoration on the spine and extremities of the patients with non-specific back disorders has been proved in all of the Groups. As for the restoration degree, however, WBIP(GCM Program) Group produced the highest effectiveness in terms of the fact that it had a dense moire in comparison with the other three Groups and that the Moires of both sides had the same level by the time(p<0.01). WBIP(GCM Program) based on four tilting types of scapular and ilium and hyper/hypomobility pattern took a higher effect on the balanced restoration of the spine and extremities through a whole body as well as the treatment of back disorders than the other three Groups which the usual remedy without classification of body type had been applied to.
This study was carried out to identify the change of glycoalkaloid contents and ascorbic acid in eggplant by parts and cooking methods. Content of glycoalkaloid by part of eggplant was the most in step part(A) as $31.1{\mu}g$ but it was shown that (A) and (C) contained more solamargine($6.9{\mu}g$) than solasonine, while (B) contained more solasonine($18.4{\mu}g$) than solamargine($6.9{\mu}g$). By cooking method, content of solamargine in eggplant varied; steaming ($6.2{\mu}g$), boiling ($7.0{\mu}g$), sauteing ($2.5{\mu}g$), microwave ($2.0{\mu}g$). Control group had $11.4{\mu}g$ solamargine and it contained solamargine most among them when boiled. Content of solasonine was in order of control ($4.88{\mu}g$)>steaming($3.40{\mu}g$)>microwave($1.2{\mu}g$)>boiling($0.6{\mu}g$)>sauteing(n.d.), and steaming showed the highest figure. As for content of ascorbic acid by part of eggplant, stem part had the most. That is, content of ascorbic acid decreased as from stem part under. Content of ascorbic acid of eggplant decreased greatly by cooking manipulation like other vegetables did, and the remaining amount showed control> sauteing> microwave> boiling> steaming in order.
