Strategic Technology Management of Automotive Steel Sheets Makers (자동차용 강판 제조업체의 전략적 기술경영)

  • The managerial environment of automobile industry has been rapidly changing, mainly with the tighter standard of legal and environmental regulations, the pressure of cost reduction from the end-user, the various functional improvements of vehicles, and the globalization management. In order to survive in this complicate circumstances, the automakers have strongly pursued the mutual collaboration with the suppliers, especially tier-1, for the optimal selection of parts/materials and the assembly manufacturing processes of the new model development. They prepare the early involvement program for the suppliers during the conceptual design stage, and implement the win-win strategy of technology development activity, in order to improve the value creation. This study considers the strategic technology management of automotive steel sheets makers on the aspects of strategy, processes, human & physical resources, and organization structure. It also suggests the corporate strategies of steel mills, in order to obtain the technology competence.

Psychological Empowerment, Organizational Supports, and Innovative Work Behavior of General Hospital Employees (심리적 임파워먼트와 조직지원이 종합병원 직원들의 혁신적 업무행동에 미치는 영향)

  • In the model tested here, individual innovative work behavior is considered as the outcome of two antecedent factors-empowerment and organizational supports. The relationships between those variables and innovative work behavior are analyzed form the data collected through a questionnaire survey of 389 employees in five general hospitals. Results of multiple regression analyses show that three dimensions of empowerment-meaning, competence, and impact, and supports from organizational culture have significant effects on innovative work behavior whereas the effects of choice dimension of empowerment and managerial supports are not significant. These results emphasize the importance of empowerment and innovation oriented organizational culture for individual members' innovative work behavior. Theoretical and practical Implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.

  • This paper employs the lens of the resource-based view(RBV) to investigate how firms create competitive advantages through IS outsourcing arrangements. The RBV framework is used to explore how a firm adds value and reaps benefits from IS outsourcing arrangements. The primary finding is that in the process of value creation, the 'absorption' of the managerial and technical capabilities of external vendors is critical. When the client firm is able to absorb and integrate the IT capabilities of outsourcing vendors, these absorbed capabilities in turn become the source of IT competence and competitive advantages $vis-\grave{a}-vis$ the competition.

  • The Internet affects all economic activities. Physical world business must either adopt new digital strategies, launch new digital business to complement their physical world models, or be forced to completely revise their strategies. The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework that organizes the managerial decision-making process to assist managers in crafting and implementing e-business strategy. We applied the methodology to the case of KNK Educational Institute to explain the process. Core competence of KNK JUNIOR is researched according to our suggested methodology and activities and roles of KNK JUNIOR have been arranged.

  • This paper is to analyze how firms in a large firm-led industrial city have carried out the restructuring in the face of radical shifts, with focus on the strategy and the restructuring of firms in Ulsan, a typical industrial district in Korea that is specialized in heavy & chemical industry. It has been well known that the local economy has been led by a small number of large firms, including affiliates of chaebol, and its industrial structure has also been characterised as a clear dichotomy between large firms as a customer and small and medium-size firms as a supplier, which can be called not horizontal but vertical relations. It can identify some tendencies, however, that local companies have been rather dynamically changing in response to increasingly turbulent environment since the Asian crisis. Some are radical, but some incremental. These can be summarized in four distinctive but interlinked ways. First, more than half of local companies surveyed have attempted to change their production systems, mainly from the fordist mass production towards the flexible mass production, seeking both economies of scale and scope. Second, local firms have vigorously continued to reorganize the boundary of the production and the organization, by specializing products and focusing on the core competence in order to save costs and cope with radically changing customer demands in a flexible way. Third, there have been various strategies for the organizational innovation such as the introduction of team organization, the boundary blurring between the managerial and production workers and the intra-firm spin-offs, so as to improve managerial efficiency and competence in the use of internal labour market. Finally, they have tried to be more sensitive to the market and customers. These tendencies seem to be increasingly critical to sustain their competitiveness. To do so, they tend to focus increasingly not only on the competing via the product quality rather than through price, but also to seek to diversify the market and customer firms beyond national boundary.

  • This research draws the factors of managerial performance that was verified by research model and hypothesis after considering research type, factors of performance and research model. The result of this research is as below. Firstly, psychological traits, capabilities of CEO is positively correlated with cost superior tactic and organizational effectiveness Secondly, entrepreneurial capability of CEO is positively correlated with organizational effectiveness for and managerial capability of CEO is positively correlated with cost superior tactic and technical capability of CEO is positively correlated with organizational effectiveness. Thirdly, technical resource is positively correlated with product innovation differentiation tactic, and organizational effectiveness and finance resource is positively correlated with marketing differentiation tactic and organizational effectiveness, and marketing capability is positively correlated with product differentiation tactic, marketing. Fourthly, product innovation-differentiation tactic, marketing differentiation tactic, and cost superior tactic are positively correlated with organizational effectiveness.

  • This study analyzes the effect of the accuracy of future management performance, which managers voluntarily announce in the previous year's disclosure, on managers compensation. In the case of a company that disclosed the bad news in the previous year, the ability to predict uncertain future will be more important, and expects executives with better predictability to receive more compensation. The results of this study show that there is a significant negative(-) relationship between the accuracy of the manager's earnings forecast and the performance - compensation of the firms that disclosed the bad news in the previous year. The accuracy of the manager's disclosure is important, and it is confirmed that the manager's compensation increases as the incentive of the manager's effort to reduce future uncertainty. The results of this study are as follows: there is a positive relationship between the managerial performance and the managerial competence of managers. It is important to note that there is a difference and that we have identified additional determinants of the manager compensation contract.

  • Theoretically, this study reviewed effects that career orientation and entrepreneurial support programs as entrepreneurial support program of participation have on entrepreneurial intention. Based on this review, a research model was made. Then, this study empirically analyzed research hypotheses by classifying universities which establish entrepreneurship courses supported by Small and Medium Business Administration (as of 2006) and ones which do not into Seoul and regions, and business department and engineering department. Results of the empirical analysis were summarized as follows: First, career orientation was not significant in terms of entrepreneurial support program of participation. Second, autonomy orientation, technical competence orientation, managerial competence orientation, and entrepreneurial creativity orientation out of career orientation had significant positive effects on entrepreneurial intention, while security orientation resulted the same significantly positive effects but statistically insignificant. Third, entrepreneurial support program of participation had significant influence on entrepreneurial intention.

  • In the highly developing industrial society, design has been playing the central role in the managerial strategy of a company and has been one of the central agendas in determining the economical competence of a country, and has also been regarded as a means to acquire sustainable superior competence. Thus, these trends suggest that the aesthetic value of a product has become more important than its technological function. In this study we reviewed theoretically esthetic factors influencing the preference and the evaluation of a product and made a list of eight esthetic factors based on various referential studies which include simplicity, balance, unity, rhythm, style, novelty, typicality, and proportion. We investigated the esthetic factors affecting consumers preferences and the basis for evaluating a product. Conclusively, this study aimed at providing materials for developing product design by presenting an esthetic guideline and to put these materials to practical use. The study also investigated other considered elements classified by manufactures and the importance of esthetic factors and its influence on consumer tastes.

Will give you guidelines on which designers can select and design some more objective and reliable design factors, finding out the relation of cause and effect by which they can know what kind of product designs their consumers like and how the popular image which that product offer is composed of. We investigated the esthetic factors affecting consumers preferences and the basis for evaluating a product. Aimed at providing materials for developing product design by presenting an ,esthetic guideline product design by presenting an esthetic guideline and to put these materials to practical use. Investigated other considered elements classified by manufactures and importance of esthetic factors and its influence on consumer tastes . All of these result, It could not conclude all of the adjective design image and design factors of every consumer, but through consumer reaction framework consumer are response and prefer the products which design image have. and then understand prefered design image are influenced to design factor's and could be apply to new design development.
