The Effects of Ethical Leadership on Organizational Identification and Organizational Commitment (윤리적 리더십이 조직동일시와 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The paper examines how ethical leadership and organizational identification contributed to explaining organizational commitment. In order to verify the relationships and mediating effect, data were collected from 256 individuals in employees working in small and medium-sized firms at Jinju, Changwon, Gimhae City to test theoretical model and its hypotheses. All data collected from the survey were analyzed using with SPSS 18.0. This study reports findings as follows: first, the relationship between the ethical leadership and the organizational identification is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between the organizational identification and the organizational commitment. Third, the relationship between the ethical leadership and the organizational commitment is positively related. Finally, the organizational identification played as a partial mediator on the relationship between ethical leadership and organizational commitment. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

  • Project managers' leadership in construction projects significantly influence project performance and outcomes. However, due to its conceptual and quantitative nature, leadership is a subject which is difficult to be evaluated or measured despite of the benefits of its measurement. The objective is this paper to apply the LBDQ technique in evaluating project managers' leadership and discuss outcomes through a pilot test.

  • Objectives: The Purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of self-leadership on the organizational effectiveness of a dental hygienist who has completed a bachelor's degree of dental hygiene science. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 303 dental hygienists in the Jeonbuk area from July 1 to August 31, 2019. Data were analyzed through the chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Subject's age, marital status, and clinical experience had significant effects on self-leadership and organizational effectiveness. It was found that the course completion status of bachelor's degree was related to self-leadership and organizational effectiveness. Conclusions: Completing a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene science impacts self-goal setting and constructive thinking of self-leadership. This also influences job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

A Structural Analysis of Causality between Safety Leadership and Related Factors in the Metro Driver Organization (도시철도 기관사조직의 안전리더십과 관련요인 간의 인과관계 구조분석)

  • This study highlights the theme of safety leadership in railway organization, conducting empirical analysis on the relationship between safety climates, safety leadership, safety behavior, and accident. The empirical test results based on questionnaires received from 223 train drivers working at A subway firm indicated that relationship between CEO's safety philosophy, and safety communication showed a significant positive effect on boss's safety leadership. And boss's safety leadership showed a positive influence on observation belonging to safety behavior, which in turn showed a significant negative relationship with mistake. However, mistake, observation and violation were shown that there are no relationship with accidents.

The Effects of Empowering Leadership on Intrinsic Motivation and In-role Behavior (임파워링 리더십이 내재적 동기부여와 역할 내 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The paper examines how empowering leadership and intrinsic motivation contributed to explaining in-role behavior. In order to verify the relationships and mediating effect, data were collected from 414 individuals in employees working in small and medium-sized firms at Jinju, Changwon, Gimhae, Busan City to test theoretical model and its hypotheses. All data collected from the survey were analyzed using with SPSS 18.0. This study reports findings as follows: first, the relationship between the empowering leadership and the intrinsic motivation is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between the intrinsic motivation and the in-role behavior. Third, the relationship between the empowering leadership and the in-role behavior is positively related. Finally, the intrinsic motivation played as a partial mediator on the relationship between empowering leadership and in-role behavior. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.

  • One of the organizational characteristics in the modern society is the emphasis placed upon individual autonomy in an effort to promote and develop each member's morale as well as the efficiency in personnel management. Therefore, it can be understood that the importance of "Self" is recognized in work places and the leadership of supervisors and each member's self-management and control are also emphasized, leading to establishment of the "Self-leadership" concept. In this study, the effect of the Transformational Leadership of the supervisors on the subordinates' Self-leadership was analyzed and the causal factor of organizational support in the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Self-leadership was defined. A survey was conducted with 182 security officials at the National Assembly and the following results were obtained. First, Transformational Leadership had a positive effect on Self-leadership and the Transformational Leadership of the supervisors had a statistically significant impact on the organizational support awareness. Furthermore, organizational support showed a statistically significant mediator effect in the relationship between the Transformational Leadership of the supervisors and the Self-leadership of the subordinates. Finally, future directions in regard to the personnel management system were suggested.

The Effect of Ethical Management and Positive Psychological Capital on Organizational Effectiveness in Hospitals (의료조직의 윤리경영과 긍정심리자본이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: In this study, state-owned medical institutes, industrial accident hospitals, veteran hospitals, and private medical clinics including 16 university medical institutes in the Seoul metropolitan area were selected to examine the causality of ethical management, positive psychological capital, and organizational effectiveness. Methods: The study analyzed 1,056 valid questionnaires to which a total of 1,325 nurses, medical technicians, doctors, and administrative staff in 34 healthcare organizations answered over two months from June to August 2015. The study also utilized a 'structural equation model,' and a 'hierarchical linear model' to conduct the analysis. Results: It was first found that ethical leadership, ethical management systems, and organizational ethics values, which are the three factors of ethical management, had significant influence on organizational commitment, and behavior. These are the three factors of employee organizational effectiveness. Second, ethical management, ethical leadership, ethical management systems, and organizational ethics values had significant influence on positive psychological capital. Third, positive psychological capital had significant influence on organizational commitment, turnover intention, and organizational citizenship behavior. Positive psychological capital presented an indirect effect on the relationship between the ethical management and organizational effectiveness of employees. The effect of positive psychological capital consisting of self-efficacy, hope, resilience, and optimism was confirmed in the healthcare organizations. Fourth, in relations among ethical management variables, ethical leadership showed a significant impact on ethical management systems, which had significant impacts on organizational ethics values, which had significant impacts on ethical leadership.

Leader-subordinate communication and leadership style in a project team

  • The relationships between leader-subordinate interpersonal communication and performance were examined in conjuction with leadership for small project teams of six research institutes funded by Korean Government. The official communication was more positively related to consideration than initiating structure of leader behavior. The non-official communication was positively related to consideration but not significantly related to initiating structure. Each dimension of the performance was positively related to the official and non-official communication for total sample and related differently to the communications according to leadership types for given leadership style.

  • The relationships among leadership, leader-subordinate interpersonal communication and outcomes in research teams were investigated for six research institutes sponsored by the Korean Government. consideration and initiating structure of leader behavior were used as leadership dimensions. Subordinate satisfaction with supervision and with work, and project success were considered as outcomes in a research team. Leader-subordinate interpersonal communication was positively related to both of consideration and inititing structure of leader behavior. Outcomes in a research team were differently related to leader-subordinate communication according to leadership types.

The Structural Relationships of Farm Village Leader's Leadership, Conflict Management between Villagers and Farm Village Business Performance (농촌마을지도자의 리더역량과 주민 간 갈등관리 및 농촌마을 사업성과 간의 구조적 관계)

  • Farm village business performance may be influenced by village leader's leadership and conflict management between villagers, so the objective of this study is to analyze the relationships among farm village leader's leadership, conflict management between villagers and farm village business performance. The questionnaire was performed for 376 villagers in Jeollabuk-do Province. The collected data was analyzed by structural equation model and Sobel test. The result shows that farm village leader's leadership such as human-relationship ability, management ability, communication skills, and industrial knowledge ability have statistically significant positive effects on the conflict management between villagers. The conflict management between villagers also showed a statistically significant positive effects on the social and economic performance. The farm village leader's leadership such as human-relationship ability, sensibility·awareness ability, management ability, communication skills, industrial knowledge ability showed no statistically significant effects on the social and economic performance. But, they showed a statistically significant effects on the farm village business performance in indirect manner with the mediating effect of the conflict management between villagers. It is worthwhile that in this study, the effect of village leader's leadership on the conflict management between villagers and farm village business performance was verified, and then, it is meaningful to present the role and importance of farm village leader's leadership.
