  • This study establishes public self-consciousness, sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, and objectified body consciousness as causal variables to identify their direct or indirect effects. This study is an aggregate analysis of existing studies that reveals the relations of how these factors turn to be the image management behaviors. A survey was conducted on 962 women from the ages of 20 to 59 who live in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas. The data analysis was performed through programs such as AMOS 16.0 and SPSS 18.0 for Windows. The findings are as follows: first, public self-consciousness had a direct effect on the sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and on objectified body consciousness, whereas it affected image management behaviors directly or indirectly. This means that as women become aware of others' attention, they recognize the social importance of appearance, internalize ideal social standards, and observe and evaluate their own bodies from a third person's viewpoint regarding the standards for a body required by society; in addition, these procedures lead them to manage their image behaviors. Second, the sociocultural attitudes toward appearance had a direct influence on objectified body consciousness; however, they had an indirect effect on image management behaviors. This demonstrates that body consciousness plays a role as a mediator between the sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and the image management behaviors. Third, it appeared that objectified body consciousness directly affected image management behaviors. Objectified body consciousness was identified as a causal variable that exerts immediate influence on image management behaviors where the more objectified body consciousness women objectified themselves as the body standards that created further image management behaviors.

  • In this study, the establishment strategies of Military Standardization Information System and Integrated Database(DB) based on standardization information are provided. The establishment strategies introduced here are based on the appliable common(commercial and military) classification of specifications/standards. The common(commercial and military) classification of specifications/standards adapted in this study can be constructed through mapping by 'grouping' between the MS(Military Specification/Standards) and KS(Korean industry Standards) to increase efficiency. In detail, the establishment of Integrated Database(DB) based on standardization information provides the various channel of interactive communication among specifications/standards. Additionally, standardization information systems provide the basis of the integrated specifications/standards converged between the commercial and military sector.

  • ISO 9000 quality standards families were established in 1987 and have been started to implement Korean industry since early 1990s. ISO 9000 standards families of 1987 were revised in 1994 and 2000, respectively, by request of world wide certification bodies and industry quality experts. This article reviews the necessity of ISO 9001 :2000 revision, quality management principles behind it, and benefits that ISO 9001: 2000 could bring. We summarize responses of foreign industry that ISO 9001: 2000 has been implemented. Survey questionnaire for 23 requirements of ISO 9001: 2000 from manufacturing companies of Busan and Kyungnam provinces are collected. Research hypotheses that there is any difference in quality management system practical application due to company size and implementation motivation are tested using SPSS. • Purpose: This study is to develop an evaluation model for analysis of CMMS Implementation status and provide CMMS advancement methods to maximize implementation effect through the evaluation model. Methods: After extracting common modules from CMMS packages and establishing evaluation standard for each module, then the evaluation standard is applied to 33 Korean companies for evaluating their own current implementation status. Results: Preventive maintenance and analysis information modules were considered the most vulnerable in Korean companies which have introduced CMMS packages. And the reason why preventive maintenance is vulnerable is that there is poor build-up of their own preventive maintenance standards. Conclusion: Korean companies which will introduce CMMS need to make preventive maintenance standards, and data of the materials and the equipment to improve the effectiveness in advance.

  • Effective management of a project is a crucial issue to software companies. There are various international standards, such as CMM, ISO9000, and SPICE, applied to project management. But, small scale companies have some difficulties in accepting those standards because of its complexity and enormous manpower requirements. This study proposes a project management approach streamlining the CMM by which a small scale software company can perform the tasks with ease. A prototype system has also been developed to show the capability of the proposed model.

  • Objectives: The aims of this study are to derive the characteristics of diesel exhaust gas emissions generated during vehicle checking in the garage of fire stations and of the related improvement plans for proper air quality management. Methods: The researcher measured changes in the air quality inside garages according to the operating conditions of the exhaust facility and before and after vehicle checking at three fire stations. Results: During the checking of fire engines, a large volume of hazardous substances exceeding management standards were generated, and improvement of the discharge facilities was required for proper air quality management. Conclusions: It is necessary to study the hazard evaluation of firefighters' exposure to exhaust gas, to operate exhaust gas ventilation facilities, and to prepare technical standards for proper indoor air quality management.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the problems of current housing construction standards related to community facilities and to suggest the vitalizing strategies that enhance the sense of community among the residents living in apartment housing complexes. For the purpose, three times small group workshops were executed during April 26~May 3, 2010 for 14 professionals in construction company, university, research institute, and housing management company. Based on the results of small group workshops, questionnaire survey for the 10 professionals was done during August 13~23, 2010 to find out the additional opinions about the revision of housing construction standards related to community facilities in apartment housing complexes. Respondents indicated that the current housing standards related to the types and the area of community facility are too strict to respond to the diverse characteristics and needs of residents. Professionals suggested the newly revised standards that sum up the whole area of community facilities instead of the existing standards that regulate the area of each community facility in an apartment housing complex. Also, they recommended the regional community center that include several facilities in one common community building.
