  • Since power plant is an important system to provide electricity, it is necessary to monitor it in order to operate safely. Much information related with machine diagnosis exists in written form instead of digital data. So, it causes difficulties of analyzing and finding solutions. Rulebased expert system can provide flexible and effective solutions to users. In this paper, Recursive Bayesian Estimation is applied in order to increase accuracy of solutions.

  • This paper presents a new analytical method for assessing outage cost of composite power system with considering transmission system uncertainty. Composite power system ELDC(CMELDC) was developed and proposed from reliability evaluation of composite power system in order to analysis the outage cost on HLII. In this study, considering the characteristic of each load point, the CMELDC was used for outage cost assessment and reliability evaluation at each load point. The characteristics and effectiveness of this methodology are illustrated by the case study (IEEE-RTS 24Buses).

  • In power system planing and operation, voltage and reactive power control are very important. The voltage deviation and system losses can be reduced through control of reactive power sources. In general, there are several different reactive power sources, we used UPFC and switched shunt capacitor to improve the voltage profile and to reduce system losses in this study. Since there are many switched shunt capacitors in power system, so it is necessary to coordinate these switched shunt capacitors. In this study, Genetic Algorithm(GA) is used to find optimal coordination of UPFC and switched shunt capacitors in a local area of power system. In case study, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in KEPCO's power system. The simulation is performed by PSS/E.

  • The power expansion planning is large and capital intensive capacity planning. In the past, the expansion planning was established with the proper supply reliability in order to minimize social cost. However, the planning cannot use cost minimizing objective function in the power markets with many market participants. This paper proposed the power expansion planning process in the power markets. This system is composed of Regulator and GENCO's model. Regulator model used multi-criteria decision making rule. GENCO model is very complex problem. Thus, this system transacted the part by several scenario assuming GENCO model.

  • In this paper, we describe a Duplex Power Controller for Control Rod Control System(CRCS). A Duplex Power Controller has the various functions for the reliable operations of Control Rod Drive Mechanism(CRDM). Also we have implemented the diverse functions by utilizing the developed Duplex Power Controller. Due to the developed Duplex Power Controller, we are assured that the commercial operation by this system be made before long.

Measurement of Carbon-14 Activity in Spent Ion-exchange Resin of Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant

  • Measurement of spent resin activity was initiated in 2004 in order to develop the C-14 removal technology for safe disposal. As part of this program, spent resins were sampled and measured in the in-station resin storage tank 2 at Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1. At the time of sampling, the resins had been in storage tank from 3 to 23 years. Total 72 resin samples were sampled, which were collected from both man-hole (68 samples) and test-hole (4 samples) in the in-station resin storage tank 2. They were separated into liquid, activated carbon, zeolite, and spent resin. The spent resins were oxidized with sample oxidizer and analyzed for C-14. Ten of collected mixed resin samples were separated by density into cation and anion resins using a sugar solution. The C-14 concentration in anion exchange resin was approximately 2 times higher than in the mixed resin. The average concentration of C-14 in the cation/anion mixed exchange resin was $460\;GBq/m^3$ from test-hole and $53.1\;GBq/m^3$ from man-hole. We have found that concentration of C-14 in the spent resin is about from 0.4 to $1,321\;GBq/m^3$. So it could be a problem, when dispose of at a repository, since there is a disposal limit of $222\;GBq/m^3$. This means we should develop the C-14 removal technology.

Establishment of Optimum Pattern of Farm Machinery for Forage Production (조사료 생산을 위한 농업기계의 적정모형 설정)

  • This study was canied out to ddermine optimum areas for various sizes of land coverage of the farm machinery utilization in 1993-1994. A kind of machinery size and work systems were classed as the power tiller of 10HP+man power, the tractor of 35~46HP (tractor of 64~86HP and attachment were leased to harvest work), 64-86HP+ attachment and 90- 105HP+ attachment, respectively. \ulcornerhe results are summarized as follows: 1. The optimum areas of tractors of 90~105HP, 64~86HP and the power tiller of lOHP were estimated as 21.9 (corn-rye cropping system)- 26.9ha (sorghum $\times$ sudangrass - rye cropping system), 14.7 - 22.8ha and 1.2 - 1.61ha, respectively. The break-even-point areas of the tractors of 90-105HP. 64-86HP and the power tiller of lOHP were 16.6 (corn-rye cropping system)- 19.9ha (sorghum $\times$ sudangrass - rye cropping system), 12.5 - 16.lha and 0.12-0.13ha, respectively. 2. The optimum areas (land sizes, annual field capacity) for 50 cows by feeding rate(%) of roughage to concentrate were 6.8ha, 13.6ha in the 4060, 8.5ha, 17.0ha in the 5050 and 10.2ha, 20.4ha in the 60:40, and in case of 30 cows, it were 4.lha, 8.2ha in the 40:60, respectively. In the former case for the form of work system was the trador of 90-105HP+attachment and 64~86HP+ attachment, and the latter was the tractor of 35~46HP (tractor of 64~86HP and attachment were leased to harvest work) and 64-86HP+ attachment. 3. Productiori cost for corn-rye cropping system reducted to 51.8% in 102.9 wonkg dry matter the tractor of 90~ 105HP+ attachment with 213.4 wonkg dry matter the power tiller of 10HP+ man power.

  • Changing from the industrial society to the knowledge based society, all industrial companies have faced the need of technology information management which is a knowledge of searching, gathering and analyzing technology information promptly and correctly to apply to their activities. Especially the research institutions in medium and smaller sized enterprises need the technology information management deeply because they have difficulty to find what is done or what is being done in which is related with their working. In spite of the importance of technology information is widespread, there is no course of academic study in korea to bring up the specialist dealing with technology information effectively. As the answer in this situation this paper is going to present and develop course curriculum for technology information special search man-power ; a course of study to bring up search man-power who have expert knowledge. The model of Course Curriculum which is developed in this paper will serve to make the searching expert of technology information in korea.

  • In order primarily to establish the working stages in the reclamation works and to- analyze the working characteristics of man-power, the investigations for construction_ works were conducted on Echeon Largescale Reclamation Project Area. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The working chart on reclamation by man-power is Fig.IV-1. 2. The. ratio of actual working time to total varied with the total times, being 1.0 for less than 4 hours but about 0.9-0.83 for more than 5 hours. 3. Felling operations can be classified into three stages as truck-cutting, branch- cutting, and binding-up, of which results are in Table IV-2. The larger the diameter of stands, the more times for both the cutting operations are, but the moving time is constant to be about 15 sec. 4. Stumping and clearing works have the results prepared in Table IV-3. Between the stumping time and the diameter of stands d, there show highly significant positive correlations, expressed as t=2.212d -4.792. The more the ratio of small diameters to total, the more hastily the total hourly working results of each person are increased. 5. Working results for constructing drainage facilities and ridges are in Table IV-5. The labours for placing patches of grass are required more than twice or three times as much as those are showed in the established standards, and such the different results imply more investigation to be necessary. 6. Table IV-6 sholvs the results for plowing andh arrowing, that are less amount thant the standards. Therefore, more inverestigation should be prepared.

  • Analytical characteristics of low power-low flow inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectometry(ICP-AES) has been studied. Although the net intensity of the low power ICP is lower than the moderate power ICP, the signal to background ratio becomes higher since the background intensity decreases with decreasing the RF power. The detection limit of the low power ICP is comparable with that of the moderate power ICP. The dynamic range of the calibration curve of the low power ICP is $10^4{\sim}10^5$. The ionization interferences by alkali metals increase with increasing the carrier gas flow rate, but the effects are not varied significantly with the RF power.
