This study was conducted to investigate change in the quality of white pan bread as affected by various concentrations of Corni fructus powder. Breads were prepared by addition of 0, 1, 2 and 3% of Corni fructus to wheat flour of basic formulation. The moisture content of white pan bread was approximately $37.5{\sim}41.1%$ and decreased with increasing Corni fructus powder concentration. The pH of white pan bread also decreased with increasing Corni fructus powder concentration. In color values, with increase of Corni fructus powder concentration, L, a value decreased and a value increased in the crumb. The weights of bread cooled for 0, 1 hour and 3 hour after baking decreased with increasing Corni fructus powder concentration. The volume and height of dough increased with increasing Corni fructus powder concentration. However, no significant differences in the specific volume and yield of dough were found. The baking loss rate was higher in the breads with Corni fructus powder than in the control. In the texture characteristics, hardness, gumminess and chewiness of bread significantly decreased with increasing Corni fructus powder concentration and adhesiveness, cohesiveness increased. In the sensory evaluation, when compared to the control, the bread added to 1% of Corni fructus powder was superior texture and taste and flavor, while was similar to color.

Renal tissues of ICR mouse were intraperitoneally injeced with Porpbyra yezoensis extract(PE) after Triton WR-1339(TX) injection were observed to investigate the cholesterol accumulation decreasing effect of PE. The renal tissues were obtained at hour 24, 48, and 72 after TX injection that were fixed in fromol-calcium solution and were cryocut. The tissue stained by sudan black B for lipid and perchloric acid-naphthoquinone method for cholesterol. The parietal layer of Bowman's capsule is swelled as cuboidal type at hour 48 after TX injection and the lipid blot and cholesterol particle were noticeably increased in glomerulus and these appeared in convoluted tubule, collecting tubule, and Helen's loop. In PE treated group, the lpid blot and cholesterol particle were considerably decreased in glomerulus than TX group. As results indicated that the accumulation of lipid including cholesterol caused by TX injection were mitigated in renal tissues by the antihypercholesterolemia effect of PE.
Imported seaweeds Gracilaria sp. and Gelidium sp. from the Philippines and Gracilaria sp. from Brazil were subjected to the examination of yield and quality of agar according to various pretreatment conditions. As pretreatment condition for alkali-treated Gracilaria sp. from the Philippines, $0.05{\sim}0.1%$ concentration of sulfuric acid was proper to obtain the higher yield of agar for which a reverse proportionality was shown between the acid concentration and the strength of extraction condition. Highest yield from Gelidium sp. from the Philippines was obtained by pretreating with 5% sodium hydroxide at $90^{\circ}C$ for one hour, followed by 0.1% sulfuric acid treatment. Gracilaria sp. from Brazil gave the highest yield of agar by pretreatments with 1% sodium hydroxide followed by 0.05% sulfuric acid, both at room temperature for one hour. Acid treatment of alkali-treated Gracilaria sp. from the Philippines brought about the decrease of total nitrogen, total sulfur and crude ash, the increase of jelly strength and no marked change in gelation point and gelation ability. In general, acid-treatment conditions to give rise to high yield of agar improved the quality of product.
For the myopia eyes of the people which are ametropia, the classified distribution has showed % for the simple myopic, 50% for the compound myopic astigmatism, 15% for the simple myopic astigmatism and 19% for the mixed astigmatism. The myopic ametropia for the both eyes has the distribution of 35% for -0.50D~-2.00Dptr, 54% for -2.00~6.00Dptr, and 11% for over -6.00Dptr. The classifying distribution for the age for the myopic ametropia was 54% for 15~20, 22% for 21~40, 14% for 41~60 and 10% for 61. The occupational distribution for the myopic ametropia has showed 61.5% for the student(Middle, High, College), 13.5% for the office worker, and 15% for the house wives as well as the small business. The hour affecting the refraction most for a day was after P.M. 7 which recorded 45% as the highest value. The reason is that the myopia degree decreases in the morning as the cornea flats and the situation is reversed in the afternoon so that there is a difference of Sph -0.50D and as getting darker the refraction degree of the light coming through the enlarged pupil refraction around the cornea is high. For the seasons the highest myopic degree has been recorded for 68% in the summer due to the shortage of nutrition and the climination inside the body by the exhaustion of sweat. In the blood types A and B are distributed closely as 34% and more active man with O has recorded higher myopic degree than woman. However woman showed higher accommodation power than man regardless the blood types. In the characteristic factors of myopic eye, the character feels fatigue easily has showed the distribution for 42% which is the highest and it could be classified largely by two the.
We have experienced 2 cases of the hunshot wound sof the chest involving cardiac injuries at department of the thoracic surgery, Capital Armed Forces General Hospital during I year from April I 1979 to Jan. 1980. In one case of two patients , he was a 22 years old man who was transported to this emergency room 4 hour 10 minutes after having gunshot wound of the left chest by helicopter. Physical examination showed small inlet in left 3rd ICS and left parasternal border, large outlet in left 8th ICS and left scapular line, no breath sound on left side and distant heart sound. chest roentgenography demonstrated marked pleural effusion in left side and mediastinum shifted to right. As soon as chest X-ray was taken, the bleeding through penetrating wound became profuse and cardiac arrest ensued. Closed chest cardiac massage was started and vigorous transfusion continued, but no effective cardiac activity could not be obtained. The patient was pronounced dead due to exsanguinating hemorrhage from wuwpected cardiac wounds. In this critically injured patient with evidence of intrathoracic hemorrhage and suspected cardiac penetration, only emergency thoracic exploration and immediate surgical control of bleeding points might offer the maximum possibility of survival. The other case was a 23 years old man who was transferred to the emergency room 4 hours 50 minutes after having kmultiple communicated fractures of sternum and linear fracture of right mandible by a missile. Examination revealed about 30% skin loss of the anterior chest wall, weak pulse of 96 beats/min., distant heart sound and decreased breath sounds bilaterally. finding on the chest X-ray films showed multiple sternal fractures, marked pericardial effusion indicating hemopericardium. So, the patient was moved immediately to the operation room where, after endotracheal tube inserted, a median sternotomy was performced. A hemorrhagic congestion of the right upper lobe and marked bulging pericardium were disclosed. The pericardium was opened anterior to right phrenic nerve and exsanguinating hemorrhage ensued from the 0.5cm lacerated wound in the auricle of right atrium. The rupture site of right atrium was occluded with non-crushing vascular clamps and then was over sewn with interrupted sutures. It was thought to be highly possible that he was alive long enough to have cardiorrhaphy because of cardiac tamponade, which prevented exsanguinating hemorrhage. He was taken closed reduction for linear fracture of right mandible 2 weeks after repair of ruptured right auricle in dental clinic. This patient's post-operative course was not eventful.
A 69-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for deep vein thrombosis, and he had experienced two episodes of left leg swelling: one happened after an 11 hour-air trip from Europe in June 2007, and the other developed 3 days after an operation for a herniated lumbar disc in July 2007. We treated him for a deep vein thrombosis of the deep femoral vein after admission. However, we arrived at the final diagnosis of angioleiomyosarcoma after the operation for the tentative diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. We removed the firmly engorged deep femoral vein on the second operation. We report here on a case of angioleiomyosarcoma that arose from the deep femoral vein.

A cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the prevalence and related factors of musuculoskeletal symptoms in automobile manufacturing, steel processing, electric assembly line, and wood processing industries. A study subjects were 3,434 workers from small and medium scale companies of Incheon. Walk-through surveys were performed from Feb. of 2004 to Oct. of 2004 to investigate various physical work factors. Symptom prevalence rate by related factors was that women worker showed higher rate than man, and married person was higher than single person. For the working year, group of person who were working less than 3 year showed the highest rate. However, the group of person who were working more than 10 hour per day showed the highest rate. For the total subjects, prevalence of symptoms by body area was as follows: shoulder symptoms were the most frequently reported symptoms(253 person, 7.0%), followed by back(155 person, 4.5%), hand or fingers (136 person, 4.0%), lower extremities(131 person, 3.9%), neck(108 person, 3.1%), and elbow symptoms(97 person, 2.8%).

Chromium-carbon (Cr-C) and chromium-carbon-phosphorus (Cr-C-P) alloy deposits using trivalent chromium sulfate baths containing potassium formate were prepared to study their current efficiency, hardness change and phase transformations behavior with heat treatment, respectively. The current efficiencies of Cr-C and Cr-C-P alloy deposits increase with increasing current density in the range of 15-35 A/dm$^2$. Carbon content of Cr-C and phosphorous of Cr-C-P layers decreases with increasing current density, whereas, the carbon content of Cr-C-P layer is almost constant with the current density. Cr-C deposit shows crystallization at $400^{\circ}C$ and has (Cr+Cr$_{ 23}$$C_{6}$) phases at $800^{\circ}C$. Cr-C-P deposit shows crystallization at $600^{\circ}C$ and has (Cr+Cr$_{23}$$C_{6}$$+Cr_3$P) phases at $800^{\circ}C$. The hardness of Cr-C and Cr-C-P deposits after heating treatment for one hour increase up to Hv 1640 and Hv 1540 and decrease about Hv 820 and Hv 1270 with increasing annealing temperature in the range of $400~^{\circ}C$, respectively. The hardness change with annealing is due to the order of occurring of chromium crystallization, precipitation hardening effect, softening and grain growth with temperature. Less decrease of hardness of Cr-C-P deposit after annealing above $700^{\circ}C$ is related to continuous precipitation of $Cr_{23}$$C_{6}$ and $Cr_3$P phases which retard grain growth at the temperature.

In succession to the previous paper(Korean J. Food Sci. and Techn., 21(2), 300, 1989), to investigate effect of salting process on physico-chemical properties of Korean radish cubes processed for kakdugi Ascorbic acid content, ${\alpha}-amylase$ activity, the penetration rate of glucose and red-pepper juice into the radish cubes, and aerobic microbial counts (bacteria, yeast and mold) were investigated during salting (packout ratio : 1:1g/ml) of radish-cube$(2{\times}2{\times}2cm)$ for kakdugi in the 15%(w/v) sodium chloride solution. For 6hr salting, ascorbic acid was reduced from 38.5mg% to 15.7 mg%, ${\alpha}-amylase$ activity was gradually increased until 5hr salting, and then deceased, Amount and rate of penetration of glucose and red-pepper juice(on base of redness) into the salted radish cube were both higher than raw cubes, and microbial counts were decreased, and mostly within one hour of salting.

Nicotine poisoning arising from the use of nicotine patches is rare. However, because nicotine patches are classified as an OTC drug, the risk of misuse or abuse is increasing. Nicotine poisoning using nicotine patches shows an unusual clinical presentation compared to that from oral ingestion of multiple doses of nicotine. We present a case of misused nicotine patches that cause a nicotine poisoning. A thirty-nine year-old healthy man visited the ER with complaints of an intermittent cramping abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting. Upon physical examination, there were no specific findings except increased bowel sounds, and the patient's initial laboratory findings were also unremarkable except for an increased bilirubin level. CT revealed a mild degree of fatty liver. The patient's symptoms did not improve any further with conservative management. During his ED stay, we meticulously took his history again, and we discovered that he had used nicotine patches for three days, six days before admission, and had misused the nicotine patches as NSAID patches. The patient's diagnosis of nicotine poisoning was confirmed by a urine cotinine level ten times the normal value. After a 12-hour stay in the ED, his symptoms disappeared without any specific management.
