A Study on the Automatic Sensing Device for Gas Leakage of Cooling Plate Using the Microprocessor System

  • The cooling water circulation plates had been used to drop the temperature of refractory outside shell of common cooling system by using cooling plate or stave type. When they are attacked by surrounding gas, they are corroded and the water flows in the refractory due to leakage of water. So, the life of refractory material is shortened and changed due to the worse conditions of cooling system. The automatic sensing device for water leakage of cooling plate is developed to check the position of trouble by using the microprocessor system when cooling water leak and gas are flowed into the cooling plate through the leakage position. The flowed gas is detected in the micro-process system which delivers the detected position of cooling plate or stave to main control room through the wireless-radio relay station. This system can be possible to detect the position of cooling plate or stave against the water leakage part immediately and then deliver the signal to main control room by using the microprocessor system and wireless-radio relay station. This system will be developed in changing the working condition from manual system to unmanned auto alarm system.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

  • 용광로는 외피 부분에 내부 내화물의 온도를 낮추기 위하여 냉각수를 공급하는 냉각판 또는 스테이브를 사용하고 있다. 주변 조업 조건의 열악으로 냉각수를 공급하는 배관의 부식으로 냉각수가 내화물에 침투하여 내화물의 수명을 떨어뜨리고, 노황을 악화시키는 원인이 되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 용광로 냉각설비장치에 이상 현상이 발생하였을 때 위치를 정확히 확인함에 따라 신속하게 누수된 부위를 파악하여 대처할 수 있는 기능을 갖춘 냉각관 누수 자동감지장치를 개발하였다. 주된 연구는 전자제어 장치인 마이크로프로세서를 응용한 전자변 제어장치를 이용하여 냉각설비의 파손으로 발생되는 누수현상으로 인한 고열과 분진 일산화탄소 등의 산출로 작업환경의 재해를 자동방지 하고자 하였으며, 작업환경이 친환경적이며 작업의 가치를 재창출할 수 있는 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 용광로 분위기의 일산화탄소 자동 감지장치와 그에 따른 출력신호를 자동 전송하는 무선중계기 장치를 개발함으로 용광로 냉각설비 장치의 분위기 작업환경을 수동방식에서 무인자동화방식으로 개선하였다.

  • A nuclear fuel test loop (after below, FTL) is installed in IR1 of an irradiation hole in HANARO for testing neutron irradiation characteristics and thermo hydraulic characteristics of a fuel loaded in a light water power reactor or a heavy water power reactor. When HANARO is normally operated, the fuel loaded in the irradiation hole has a nuclear reaction heat generated by a neutron irradiation. To remove the generated heat and to maintain an operation condition of the test fuel, a main cooling water system (MCWS) is installed in the OPS of the FTL. This paper describes the cold function test results of the MCWS. It was confirmed through the test results that the system met the design requirements under a cold operation condition.

하나로 핵연료 시험 루프 주냉각수 계통의 유량 제어에 대한 유동 해석 (Flow Network Analysis for the Flow Control of a Main Cooling Water System in the HANARO Fuel Test Loop)

  • A nuclear fuel test loop(after below, FTL) is installed in the IRI of an irradiation hole in HANARO for testing the neutron irradiation characteristics and thermo hydraulic characteristics of a fuel loaded in a light water power reactor or a heavy water power reactor. There is an in-pile section(IPS) and an out-pile section(OPS) in this test loop. When HANARO is operated normally, the fuel loaded into the IPS has a nuclear reaction heat generated by a neutron irradiation. To remove the generated heat and to maintain the operation conditions of the test fuel, a main cooling water system(MCWS) is installed in the OPS of the FTL. The MCWS is composed of a main cooler, a pressurizer, two circulation pumps, a main heater, an interconnection pipe line and instruments. The interconnection pipeline is a closed loop which is connected to an inlet and an outlet of the IPS respectively. The MCWS is under a cold function test during a start-up period. This paper describes the system flow network analysis results of the flow control of a main cooling water system in the HANARO fuel test loop. It was confirmed through the results that the flow was met the system design requirements.

  • The canned motor of 3-phase induction is used for main coolant pump(MCP). The type of motor is canned-motor that stator and rotor are welded by sealed can. So, cooling water flows in the air gap of the canned motor as an independent cycling cooling system from the air gap to yoke of the motor to prevent high temperature of stator can and to lubricate bearing. Heat exchange is occurred between cooling water in the air gap and cooling water from the exterior pump to prevent rising of temperature in the motor. I has to analyze the characteristics of can exactly because the loss and the heat in the can are very important to design MCP. Therefore, thermal analysis is studied considering the effect of eddy-current los induced in the can.

  • The cooling water system for the PEFP 20 MeV proton accelerator was established and tested to obtain the precise resonance frequency of DTL through the temperature control of cooling water. The water temperature in the main flow loop was manipulated by adjusting the proportion of hot water returning from the DTL structures through the heat exchanger loop. Due to low duty factor operation and insufficient cooling loop installation of the DTL tanks, the manual mode operation was applied to maintain the DTL temperatures close to their resonance temperatures. The optimized process conditions with flow balancing and pressure drop in the DTL cooling systems are reported.

There is an in-pile section (IPS) and an out-pile section (OPS) in this test loop. When HANARO is normally operated, the fuel loaded in the IPS has a nuclear reaction heat generated by a neutron irradiation. To remove the generated heat and to maintain an operation condition of the test fuel, a main cooling water system (MCWS) is installed in the OPS of the FTL. The pump can not continuously suck a fluid and not pressurize the fluid during a cold function test. To verify the flow characteristics of the MCWS, a flow net work analysis has been conducted. When the higher elevation pipelines wholly filled with coolant, it was confirmed through the analysis results that the pump pressurized the coolant normally. And the analysis results described the system characteristics with operation temperature and pressure variation satisfactorily.

냉각계통의 구리 부식 생성물의 화학세정에 관한 연구 (A study on Chemical Cleaning of Copper Corrosion Product in cooling system)

  • This study was carried out a investigate the effect of chemical cleaning of corrosion product in cooling system made of copper and copper alloy as basic material and used cooling water as pure water. We studied chemical cleaning condition that minimizes the influence on basic material by means of EDTA solution so as to eliminate the slurry in cooling system. As a result, we found that the main components of sludge in cooling system produced by corrosion of copper were $Cu_2O$, CuO, Cu, and Fe. The optimum condition of chemical cleaning was 400 ppm EDTA solution at $60^{\circ}C$.

  • The development of new energy has attracted consideration attention due to the high oil price and environmental problems. In advanced country, they have tried to carry out a long range plan for energy. We need to develop new energy for Low Carbon Green Growth in Korea. The building is 30% among ratio of energy consumption in Korea. And in the past, heating energy was high ratio for energy using at home. But recently, the demand for cooling energy keeps growing due to rising average temperature on the earth and improvement of life quality. In this situation, the energy of lake water and ocean water has studied to utilize in advanced country because of low temperature at underwater. But the study for deep water is still a lot left to do. In this study, we analyzed district cooling system and the present condition. Analyzing the deep lake water cooling system in Toronto, we found an application of district cooling system using deep ocean water. Deep lake water uses heat source for district cooling and water source for city in Toronto. So reducing the initial cost, this city had economic effect. When DLWC was applied at existing building, the heat exchanger was installed instead of cooling tower and refrigerator. And the heat exchanger used to connect main pipe with cool water on city. System using deep ocean water can be applied as a similar way to supply cool water from lake to building.
