A Study on Securing Safety for High Rise Building Fires - Applying Active Fire Escape Systems -

  • Under the Korean Enforcement Decree of the Building Act, all high story apartment houses more than 5 stories high are mandated to install a fire evacuation system to ensure safe evacuation from fire accidents and providing quick and easy bidirectional escape route when main entrance is blocked by flame or toxic smoke. However, the current fire evacuation system shows a lack of understanding from residents and thus is widely ignored for having insufficient safety functions, especially vis-à-vis fire emergencies. Studies have found that an alternative evacuation method, the escapable fire evacuation system, has been analyzed for safety evaluation compared with the conventional passive fire escape system and can bring efficient and safer solutions, providing high rise residents escape from fire accidents. Evaluation for safety evacuation has been performed by the Fire Dynamics Simulation and applying Pathfinder simulation. This resulted in providing appropriate escape routes within the safety escape time and allowed for people in high rise building fires to get to safety.

Traffic Safety Analysis in Mombasa Channel: Integrating Ferry Crossings and Main Transit

  • This study examined challenges posed by two ferry routes, namely, Likoni and Mtongwe crossings, in the Mombasa Channel and their impact on navigational safety. Utilizing the Environmental Stress (ES) model, this study analyzed current ship traffic and assessed stress levels imposed by ferry crossing traffic on navigators. ES values revealed significant stress at these ferry crossings attributed to varying transit speeds. Standardizing transit speeds at two ferry passages can reduce high stress levels, presenting a viable solution. Furthermore, the IWRAP Mk2 simulation underscores crossing collisions as a significant concern, particularly at Likoni and Mtongwe crossings, due to increased ferry traffic. This research offers valuable insights for stakeholders, such as the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), to develop targeted safety measures and enhance the flow of ship traffic in the channel.

19세기 안의삼동(安義三洞) 동천(洞天)의 경관구조 해석 (An Analysis on the Landscape Structure of Anuisamdong-Dongcheon in the 19th Century)

  • 안의삼동은 19세기 영남 지방 최고의 명승으로 각광받던 곳이었으나 오늘날에는 각 경관요소가 산재되어 전해오고 있다. 본 연구는 안의삼동의 경관구조 재현 및 명승적 가치 제고를 위해 관찬지리지에 수록된 주요지점을 추출하고 경관구조를 살펴본 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 관찬지리지에 나타나는 안의삼동의 명승적 가치를 지닌 주요지점을 추출한 결과 화림동은 6개소, 심진동은 9개소, 원학동은 25개소로 확인되었다. 화림동은 누정과 형승이 각각 3개소로 나타났으며, 심진동의 주요지점은 모두 형승에 해당하는 자연물에 해당하였다. 원학동은 안의삼동 동천 중 가장 많은 요소들이 수록되었다. 화림동은 정자 중심의 경구집합형, 심진동은 계곡을 따라 분포하는 경점연속형, 원학동은 경구집합형과 경점연속형이 동시에 나타나는 복합형의 개별 분포 구조를 지니고 있었으며 각 동천의 집합적 의미구조를 살펴본 결과 지형에 따라 시각적 거리적 격리를 통해 주변과의 영역성을 달리하고 있으며, 좁은 입구와 위요된 지형은 동천이 무릉도원의 공간으로 인식되는 구조를 지니고 있었다. 또한 19세기 유람문화의 성행과 함께 효율적인 경로 모색에 의한 각 주요지점의 연계는 이전시기 개별 동천으로 인식되던 경관구조가 통합된 하나의 동천으로 확대되었으며, 이는 동일한 시점과 종점, 유람경로를 지니는 일반적인 동천의 경관전개와는 차별성을 지닌다.

조선시대 읍치(邑治)와 관도의 연결 유형에 따른 교통로의 상징성 - 경상도의 사례연구 - (Symbolizing Geographic Relationship between County Seats and National Roads - A Case Study on Gyeongsang-do -)

  • 조선시대의 관도(官道)는 당시 지리지들의 기술방식으로도 짐작할 수 있듯이, 수도 한양과 지방의 각 고을 및 군사요충지를 직결하는 것을 제일의 목적으로 하고 있었다. 바꾸어 말하면 지방행정도시인 읍치와 수도는 관도를 통해 가장 가깝게 연결되어 있었던 것이다. 관도는 공무여행자의 정식통로이자 관리의 파견 및 귀경통로였다. 따라서 이 관도가 읍치로 접어드는 지점이 보통 그 해당 읍치의 현관문이 되는 것이었다. 한편 지형적 제약 등이 없는 한 대부분의 읍치에서는 관아의 좌향이 남향이었기 때문에, 이를 마주보는 남쪽 출구가, 읍성이 있으면 남문이 으레 읍치의 현관문이 되었다. 따라서 판도는 읍치 주변을 우회해서라도 남문으로 돌아서 읍치에 들어가도록 고지도 등에는 그려지고 있는데, 이는 실제적인 교통로의 체계와 차이가 날 수 있는 '상징적 교통로'였다. 관아와 현관문 사이, 때로는 주산, 내삼문, 외삼문, 비보 등의 요소까지 추가되어서 해당 읍치의 상징축이 형성되었다. 다만 역시 지형이나 교통로의 방향 때문에 실제 공간상에서는 상징축의 방향과 교통로의 방향, 심지어 현관문의 위치까지도 실제와 어긋나는 경우도 많았다.

속리산 국립공원의 이용객이 야생조류 서식에 미치는 영향 (User′s Effects on Avifauna in Sokri Mountain National Park)

  • 본 연구는 속리산 국립공원을 대상으로 이용객이 야생조류의 서식에 미치는 영향을 밝히기 위하여 실시되었다. 조사를 위하여 주등산로, 부등산로, 등산금지구역 등 총 4개의 조사지를 설정하여, 1989년 12월부터 1990년 10월 사이 4회에 걸쳐 line transect방법으로 조사하였다. 조사기간 동안 관찰된 야생조류는 텃새 23종, 여름철새 7종, 겨울철새 2종, 나그네새 4종의 총 36종 570개체로 평균서식밀도는 2.35마리/ha이었다. 주요 우점종은 박새, 쇠박새, 곤줄박이, 동고비의 순이었고. 이용강도가 낮은 지역에서는 박새류의 우점도가 현저하게 떨어지는 경향을 보이고 있다. 출현종수, 출현빈도 및 종다양도 모두 이용강도가 높은 지역에서 겨울철이나 봄철보다 이용객이 많아지는 여름철과 가을철에 현저하게 낮아졌으며, 상대적으로 이용강도가 낮은 지역에서는 변동이 적었다. 야생조류의 평균 출현빈도는 3.4회/km이였으며, 겨울철과 봄철에 비해 여름철이 30% 수준으로 감소하였다. 이상과 같이 야생조류의 종수, 종구성, 종다양도 및 출현빈도는 이용객에 의하여 큰 영향을 받고 있으며, 이용객이 집중하는 여름철과 이용강도가 높은 주등산로에서 더욱 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이용자에 의한 영향이 큰 주등산로와 여름철에 집중적인 이용을 제한하는 등 적극적인 야생조류의 보호대책이 요망된다.

여성전문병원에서 이용자의 피난행태를 고려한 과밀화 공간 비교분석모델 연구 (A Comparative Analysis Model of Overcrowded Spaces Considering the Evacuation Behavior of Users in Women's Hospital)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare variant analysis results regarding overcrowded spaces and suggest a space analysis model for women's hospitals at the outpatient clinic department, central treatment department, and inpatient ward considering evacuation capability of newborns unable to perform automotive evacuation, pregnant patients and maternal patients with limited mobility. Methods: Firstly, precedent studies on women's hospitals and evacuation in hospitals were reviewed. Secondly, the analysis conditions and necessary set values for simulation were designed after analyzing the design documents of the research target hospital. Thirdly, evacuation simulation was conducted by adjusting the variables related to the evacuation behavior of inpatients and newborns. Fourthly, based on the derived results, overcrowded spaces were compared and analyzed according to evacuation behavior. Result: The study results are as follows: (1) It is necessary to check the main escape routes for occupants and to expand and adjust the size of mainly used entrances. (2) It is necessary to widen the stairs' width to alleviate overcrowding caused by patients with non-autonomous walking. (3) Due to overcrowding of the main escape route, it is necessary to identify the bypass route and adjust the width of the corridor. (4) It is necessary to plan an evacuation route for newborns to escape from the main escape route for occupants. Implications: The study result is expected to be used as primary data for research that considers the evacuation behavior of newborns and pregnant women in women's hospitals.

Measurement and Analysis of Physical Environmental Load during Handling and Distribution of Domestic Fruits -Focused on Seongju Korean Melon

  • The proportion of agricultural products handled through the Agricultural Products Processing Center (APC) is also steadily increasing every year, and in the case of Seongju Korean melon, a total of 10 APCs of Nonghyup and farming association corporations are in operation, and the distribution ratio is about 60% based on total production. In this study, Seongju Korean melon was selected as a target to analyze the environment load during carrying (production farm ~ APC) in the production area and the transport environment load during distribution of domestic fruits, and to analyze the environmental load for handling at APC. The vertical average vibration intensity (overall Grms of 1~250 Hz) of truck transport measured at three transport routes from Seongju Korean melon producer ~ APC, Seongju ~ Seoul and Seongju ~ Jeju was about three times larger than that in the lateral direction and 4.5 times larger than that in the longitudinal direction, respectively. The frequency of occurrence of high-amplitude events (G) in the vertical direction compared to the measuring time was deeply related to pavement conditions in the order of unpaved farm-roads, concretepaved farm-roads, and asphalt-paved main-roads, but overall Grms for the entire frequency band is believed to have a greater impact on vehicle traveling speed than road conditions. On the other hand, the difference in the size and direction of the vibration intensity measured by the forklift truck's main-body and the attachment (fork carrier) during handling at Seongju Korean melon APC was clear, and the vibration intensity of the forklift truck's main-body was largely affected by the stiffness of the fork and the mast according to the handling weight. Based on the field-data of the transport environment during domestic distribution measured through this study, it is believed that it is possible to develop a lab-based simulation protocol for appropriate packaging design.

경기북부지역 대학생의 건강기능식품 인식 및 섭취 실태 조사 (Recognition and Consumption for the Health Functional Food of College Students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do Area)

  • This study was conducted to assess the recognition and consumption of health functional food (HFF) of the college students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area (Republic of Korea). To accomplish this, a survey was conducted to investigate 360 college students (183 males and 177 females) regarding their general characteristics, as well as the recognition, knowledge, considerations, purchases and consumption of HFF. Most male and female students (68.9% and 61.6%, respectively) were unaware of the HFF certification mark, however, more females(58.8%) were aware of the legal HFF definition compared to males (36.6%). The HFF advertising routes for males and females were 'TV radio' (43.2% and 43.5%, respectively) and 'internet smart phones' (19.7% and 27.1%, respectively). The main factor considered for selection and the most serious problem concerning HFF by males and females were 'effectiveness' (36.1% and 43.6%, respectively) and 'hype (exaggerated advertisement)' (35.0% and 55.9%, respectively). The main purchase route by males and females was 'pharmacy' (35.2% and 27.8%, respectively). The main reason for HFF product purchase by males and females was 'health promotion' (38.8% and 29.4%, respectively) and the main reason for not purchasing an HFF product was 'no health problem'(34.8% and 36.7%, respectively). The percentage of HFF consumption was 46.0% in males and 69.8% in females. The main HFF product consumed by males and females was 'vitamin mineral' (36.9% and 43.5%, respectively). The main reason for HFF consumption by males was 'health promotion' (31.0%) and females was 'recovery from fatigue' (21.8%). The main reason for not consuming HFF by males and females was 'no health problem' (38.4% and 41.5%, respectively). These results suggest the need to provide correct information concerning HFF to college students. Based on these results, greater efforts should be made to provide meaningful information regarding factors affecting purchase and consumption patterns for college students related to the research and development of HFF in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area.

인터넷 패션소호쇼핑몰의 방문자를 늘리기 위한 효과적인 촉진 전략 연구 - 여대생의 인터넷 쇼핑몰 방문경로분석을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Effective Promotion Strategy for Increasing Visitors on Internet Fashion Soho Shopping Mall)

  • This study analyzed the effective and suitable promotion method to increase visitors on the internet fashion soho shopping mall by surveying of female university students. The methods were in-depth interviews for 20 students and questionnaires for 363 students. The results indicated that the main routes of visiting the internet fashion shopping mall were keyword search window, banner advertisement window, and open market. Others were price comparison sites, the rank shop, fashion magazines or internet news, information in e-mail, broadcasting sponsor advertisements, name cards, and leaflets. So the effective methods to increase the number of visitors is to implement keyword advertisements, banner advertisements, and enter the open market to expose the brand names and item information. Being on price comparison sites or rank shops, advertisements in the fashion magazines, internet news or e-mail, broadcast sponsorships, and distribution of leaflets or name cards were also effective methods.

  • 바이오가스를 이용한 수소 제조는 주요한 에너지 및 환경 관련 이슈들을 동시에 해결할 수 있다는 장점으로 꾸준히 주목받아 왔다. 바이오가스 정제를 통해 얻은 바이오메탄 수증기개질은 천연가스 개질을 대체할 수 있는 좋은 현실적인 대안이다. 하지만, 경제성과 환경 유해성을 모두 고려한다면 바이오가스를 직접 개질반응에 활용하는 바이오가스 수증기 개질 및 건식 개질을 활용한 수소 제조가 보다 효과적이라 평가된다. 본 논문에서는 바이오가스 기반 추출수소 제조 관련 최근의 기술 이슈 및 개발 동향을 소개하며 향후 상업화를 위한 효과적인 적용 방향에 대해서 고찰하고자 한다.
