  • CdS thin films were fabricated by rf magnetron sputter technique, and annealed in tube furnace using vacuum evaporated $CdCl_2$ layer, In addition, effects of the thickness of $CdCl_2$ layer and the annealing temperature on structural and optical properties of CdS films were investigated. The heat treatment process was carried out by heating the sample in air at $350-500^{\circ}C$ for 20 minute.

  • High performance resistive type touch panel was fabricated on flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates coated with Al- and Ga-codoped ZnO (AGZO) films. The AGZO films were deposited by roll-to-roll direct current magnetron sputter at room temperature. The AGZO thin films on PET substrates showed high transparency (> 85 % at 550 nm) and low sheet resistance (450 ${\Omega}$/sq.). These values were similar to those of commercial ITO films used for resistive type touch panel.

  • A solar cell conversion efficiency was degraded by grain boundary effect in polycrystalline silicon To reduce grain boundary effect, we performed a preferential grain boundary etching, POC$_3$ n-type emitter doping, and then ITO film growth on poly- Si. Among the various preferential etchants, Schimmel etch solution exhibited the best result having grain boundary etch depth higher than 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. RF magnetron sputter grown ITO films showed a low resistivity of 10$^{-4}$ $\Omega$ -cm and high transmittance of 85 %. With well fabricated poly-Si solar cells, we were able to achieve as high as 15 % conversion efficiency at the input power of 20 mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • PTCRl(positive temperature coefficient of resistivity) thermistors in the thin file BaTiO$_3$ system were deposited by radio frequency (13.56 MHz) and dc radio frequency (13.56MHz) and dc magnerton sputter equipment. R-T(resistivity -temperature) properties was investigated as a function of substrate and the temperature variation. The specimens make a comperison between the thin films and the bulk in the resistivity variation. Substrate temperature. deposition time. and forward power are deposited at the 400$^{\circ}C$, 10 hours, and 210 watt. respectively. The aim of this work is to obtain lower than bulk specimen resistivity in thin films BaTiO$_3$ system thermistor by RF/DC magnetron sputter equipment.

  • Thin nickel oxide films formed on uncooled and cooled $SiO_2/Si$ substrates using a radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputter powered by 200 W in a mixed atmosphere of argon and oxygen. Grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy are used for the structural analysis of nickel oxide films. The electrical conductivity required for better bolometric performance is estimated by means of a four-point probe system. Columnar and (200) preferred orientations are discovered in both films regardless of substrate cooling. Electric resistivity, however, is greatly influenced by the substrate cooling. Oxygen partial pressure increase during the nickel oxide deposition leads to a rapid decrease in resistivity, and the resistivity is higher in the cooled nickel oxide samples. Even when small microstructure variations are applied, lower resistivity in favor of low noise performance is acquired in the uncooled samples.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films have been deposited on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and glass substrates by a do magnetron sputter method of powder target without heat treatments such as substrate heater and post heat treatment. During the sputtering deposition, sputtering parameters such as sputtering power, working pressure, oxygen gas mixture, film thickness and substrate-target distance are important factors for the high quality of ITO thin films. The structural, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO oxide films are investigated by sputtering power, oxygen partial pressure and films thickness among the several sputtering conditions. XRD patterns of ITO films are affected by sputtering power and pressure. As the power and pressure are increased, (411) and (422) peaks of ITO films are grown strongly. Electrical resistivity is also increased, as the sputtering power and pressure are increased. Transmittance of ITO thin films in the visible light ranges is lowered with an increase of sputtering power and film thickness. Reflectance of ITO films in infra-red region is decreased, as the power and pressure is increased.

  • Insulating thin films for strain gauge application, such as $SiO_2$ single layers and $SiO_2/Si_3N_4$ multilayers, are deposited by using both PECVD and RF magnetron sputtering techniques. Micro-structural analysis and electrical characterization are carried out on those films. It has been observed that PECVD films have a smoother surface and a denser micro-structure than sputter films. It should be also found out that the electrical insulation property of $SiO_2$ film can be significantly improved by adding the $Si_3N_4$ layer.

  • Nano-structured carbon nitride $(CN_x)$ films were prepared by reactive RF magnetron sputtering with a DC bias at various deposition conditions, and the physical and electrical properties were investigated. FTIR spectrum indicated an ${alpha}C_3N_4$ peak in the films. The carbon nitride film deposited on Si substrate had a nano-structured surface morphology. The grain size was about 20 nm and the deposition rate was $1.7{\mu}m/hr$. When the $N_2/Ar$ ratio was 3/7, the level of nitrogen incorporation was 34.3 at%. The film had a low dielectric constant. The metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) capacitors that the carbon nitride was deposited as insulators, exhibited a typical C-V characteristics.
