Differential Diagnosis of Chemical-induced Hepatobiliary Toxicities Using a New Hepatobiliary Imaging Agent in Mice

  • We have synthesized $^{99m}$Tc-mercaptoacetyltriglycine (MAG3)-biocytin as a new imaging agent for hepatobiliary scintigraphy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of $^{99m}$Tc-MAG3-biocytin scintigraphy in differentiating carbon tetrachloride ( $CCl_4$)-induced hepatotoxicity from $\alpha$-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT)-induced cholestasis in mice, which reflecting the differential diagnosis of neonatal jaundice caused by neonatal hepatitis from congenital biliary atresia in humans. Methods: Balb/c mice (female, 20 g, n=4-6) were pretreated with $CCl_4$(0.5 or $1.0m\ell$/kg) and ANIT ($150 or 300 m\ell$/kg) 18 h before scintigraphy. Biochemical and histopathological examinations showed a pattern of typical acute hepatitis (increase of transaminases and hepatocellular necnsis) in $CCl_4$-treated mice and cholestasis (increase of alkaline phosphatase and ${\gamma}$-glutamyltransferase, and biliary hyperplasia) in ANIT-treated mice, respectively, Mice were fasted at least 4 hr prior to the intravenous injection of $^{99m}$Tc-MAG3-biocytin (18.5 MBq/20$\mu\textrm{g}$) in 2% human serum albumin in saline. Scintigraphy was performed with a ${\gamma}$-camera equipped with a 1-mm diameter pin-hole collimator for 30 min and images were acquired every 15 s. We compared the values of physical parameters, such as peak liver/heart ratio ($${\gamma}$_{max}$) and peak ratio time ($t_{max}$) far $^{99m}$Tc-MAG3-biocytin scintigraphy. Results: Scintigraphic parameters of the $CCl_4$-pretreated (0.5 $m\ell$/kg) group showed a 81.9% decrease of r$_{max}$, and 42.2% decrease of $t_{max}$, whereas the ANIT-pretreated ( $150m\ell$/kg) group showed a 53% decrease of $r_{max}$, and 2.36-fold increase of $t_{max}$, (P<0.05). These results demonstrate that the decrease of $r_{max}$ and the shortening of $t_{max}$ are characteristic features for hepatotoxicity, in contrast to the increase of $t_{max}$ and decrease of $r_{max}$ for biliary hyperplasia. Conclusion: $^{99m}$Tc-MAG3-biocytin hepatobiliary scintigraphy can distinguish hepatitis from cholestasis in mice model and may be similarly useful in humans which differentiating the cause of neonatal jaundice in clinical study.cal study.cal study.cal study.

Sejong Open cluster Survey - II. The star forming region IC 1848 (W5)

  • UBVI and $H{\alpha}$ CCD photometry of IC 1848, one of active star-forming regions in Cas OB6, is carried out as a part of Sejong Open cluster Survey (SOS) project. An OB association is an ideal laboratory for studying the triggered star formation and star formation history. Our purposes are to provide deep photometric data up to 21 mag in V and physical parameters of IC 1848. We classify 79 early-type stars and 186 pre-main sequence (PMS) stars as being the members of the cluster using photometric criteria. The IR excess emission PMS stars by Koenig et al. (2008) are also included as members of IC 1848. Total number of members is 414. We derive the interstellar reddening (=$0.659{\pm}0.058$ mag), reddening law ($R_V=4.0{\pm}0.1$), distance modulus ($V_0-M_V=12.0{\pm}0.1$ mag) using the early-type members of IC 1848. We also determine the age of the cluster ($3.5{\pm}1.5$ Myr) by placing the theoretical isochrones on the HR diagram.

  • 유도결합형 플라즈마(Inductively coupled plasma)는 조명기술 분야에서도 효과적인 방전 소스로 이용되고 있다. 이중 무전극 램프에서의 유도결합형 플라즈마의 이용은 장수명은 물론 높은 효율과 넓은 동작 온도특성, 전원 인가시와 동시에 방전이 개시되는 등 여러 가지 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Re-entr-ant Type QL-lamp에 사용되어진 페라이트의 형태에 변화를 주어 이에 따른 전자계 특성을 살펴보았다. 먼저 페라이트 코어의 특성에 따른 임의의 영역에서의 자속 및 자속밀도 그리고 자계강도 등을 고려하였으며, 시뮬레이션을 통한 페라이트 크기의 변화에 따른 전자계 분포 특성을 조사하였다.

  • The Han Zeong Mag was the typical hydro-therapy of Korea. It looks like hot air bath of western physical therapy. It developed out of the CHO-SEON, King SE JONG(1422). It is warmed fire of pine wood in the room. At first, it runs a temperature about a few hundred and drop to $80^{\circ}C$ through 12 hours then the room air is exceeding dry. After 12h. reheated in the room. Women makes use of that place with bare body. Because for use salt rub of skin. They have low back pain, pain of muscle, muscle spasm, swelling of arthritis, stiffness of joint and it takes effect on the cosmetic of skin. The treatment effect was excellent to pain(28%), next arthritis(25%). But they have not order for treatment of a doctor. It's dangers of heat stroke and heart disease. Imtortant, must educated method of it's use and danger when it's bad use.

단주기변광성 탐사의 예비결과 : 시험영역에서 발견된 새로운 변광성 (PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR SHORT-PERIOD VARIABILITY SURVEY (SPVS) : NEW FIELD VARIABLE STARS)

  • Preliminary time-series observations for short-period variability survey (SPVS) were carried out using a 155mm refractor and a $2k{\times}3k$ CCD camera at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory. We found 21 new variable stars in the $90'{\times}60'$ test field region : 9 eclipsing binary stars, $5{\delta}$ Scuti type stars, a ${\gamma}$ Doradus type star, and 6 long period variables. The observing field center is R.A. $05^h\;00^m\;00^s$, DEC. $50^{\circ}\;00'\;00"$ (J2000.0). The period and amplitude ranges for the short-period variables, i.e., ${\delta}$ Scuti stars, were 0.052day - 0.107day and 0.012mag - 0.064mag, respectively.

A NEAR-INFRARED STUDY OF THE HIGHLY-OBSCURED ACTIVE STAR-FORMING REGION W51B

  • We present wide-field $JHK_s$-band photometric observations of the three compact H II regions G48.9-0.3, G49.0-0.3, and G49.2-0.3 in the active star-forming region W51B. The star clusters inside the three compact H II regions show the excess number of stars in the $J-K_s$ histograms compared with reference fields. While the mean color excess ratio $(E_{J-H}/E_{H-K_s})$ of the three compact H II regions are similar to ${\sim}2.07$, the visual extinctions toward them are somewhat different: ${\sim}17$ mag for G48.9-0.3 and G49.0-0.3; ${\sim}23$ mag for G49.2-0.3. Based on their sizes and brightnesses, we suggest that the age of each compact H II region is ${\leq}2\;Myr$. The inferred total stellar mass, ${\sim}1.4{\times}10^4M_{\odot}$, of W51B makes it one of the most active star forming regions in the Galaxy with the star formation efficiency of ${\sim}10%$.

낮은 동전점을 갖는 $^{99m}Tc$ 표지 Succinic Acid 결합 Avidin의 생체내분포에 관한 연구 (Biodistribution Study of $^{99m}Tc$-Labeled Succinic Acid-Conjugated Low pI Avidin)

  • Avidin과 biotin의 높은 결합력을 이용하여 종양 영상을 개선하는 방법이 많이 연구되고 있다. 본 실험에서는 이러한 목적으로 쓰기 위하여 적당한 $^{99m}Tc$ 표지 avidin을 제조하였다. Avidin을 표지하기 위하여 우선 $^{99m}Tc$과 안정한 킬레이트를 형성할 수 있는 benzoylmercaptoacetyltriglycine (Bz-MAG3)과 biocytin을 화학적으로 결합시킨 Bz-MAG3-biocytin을 합성하였다. 이 화합물을 Tc-99m으로 표지시켜 avidin 또는 streptavidin을 1:1로 섞어 줌으로서 Tc-99m으로 표지된 avidin과 streptavidin을 제조하였다. 이들의 생쥐 생체내 분포를 조사한 결과 avidin의 경우 높은 간(56.6%, 10min)과 신장(28.5%, 10min) 축적을 보였고 streptavidin의 경우 높은 신장 축적 (28.9%, 21hr)을 보였다. Avidin의 높은 정상 조직 축적을 줄이기 위하여 succinic acid를 결합시켜 등전점(pI)을 낮춘 다음 같은 실험을 하여 본 결과 신장 축적율은 pI가 $7.0{\sim}9.3,\;5.5{\sim}6.2,\;4.0{\sim}4.8$로 낮아졌을 경우 19.0%, 3.1%, 1.7%로 각각 떨어졌지만 간에의 축적은 pI 변화에 따른 상관성을 찾아 볼 수가 없었다. 체내 제거율을 측정하여 본 결과 pI를 변화시킨 avidin과 변화시키지 않은 avdin들은 반감기가 13.5에서 16.0시간 사이로 큰 차이점을 보이지 않았는데 streptavidin은 반감기 61.5시간 정도로 느리게 제거된다는 것을 알았다. 이 실험의 결과 1. Avidin을 $^{99m}Tc$-MAG3-biocytin으로 안정하게 표지할 수 있었고, 2. pI가 낮아진 avidin은 신장에의 축적율이 크게 감소되었으며, 3. $^{99m}Tc$으로 표지된 avidin과 streptavidin은 먼저 간으로 흡수된 후 대사된 다음 신장으로 배설된다는 사실을 알았다.

No Root Cap Horizontal Butt-welding with MAG Process

  • It has been used many kinds of horizontal butt-welding methods at block-to-block erection stage in shipbuilding companies. For examples, some companies use conventional FCAW process with one side or both sides groove joint welding, others use carriage with torch holder type mechanized welding method. Although lots of efforts were done until now, some problems in quality and productivity still remain in ship's hull welding. In this study, we have attempted to raise productivity and quality on horizontal position of welding with following 3 items. 1) Prepare groove condition with no root gap for making easy fit-up work. 2) Develop improved MAG (100% $CO_2$ gas shielding) welding process with solid wire for making sound root bead from one side. 3) Develop and apply quite new automatic welding carriage. The stability of new welding process was confirmed by conducting mechanical tests of weldments to verify the soundness of weldments.
