A Study on the Cooling Characteristics of Helical Type Cooling-Jacket according to the Flow Rate (나선형 냉각 자켓의 유량에 따른 냉각 특성)

  • Cooling characteristics of cooling jacket for spindle system with built-in motor are studied. for the analysis, three dimensional model for the cooling jacket is built by using finite volume method. The three dimensional model includes the estimation on the amount of heat generation of bearing and built-in motor and the thermal characteristic values such as heat transfer coefficients on the boundary. The temperature distributions and the cooling characteristics are analyzed by using the commercial software FLUENT. Numerical results show that stream-wise cross section area and flow rate are important factors for cooling characteristics of cooling jacket. Cooling performance of cooling jacket is good in condition that stream-wise cross section's horizontal length is close to its vertical one and flow rate is high. This results show that heat transfer is dominated by velocity profile and heat transfer area.

  • To make high precision cutting of long materials or a piston for the engines, it must be necessary to keep the stability of spindle and tail stock in CNC lathe. If a object is clamped at the ends, the thermal expansion and cutting generated in cutting process appear as the deflection of in cuttings objects. Especially, of a piston ring, piston ovality and piston profile, the influences are very serious. In order to solve the problems most of piston cutting are worked in simply support.   • This paper presents an efficient dynamic modeling method for multi-stepped rotor system using effective spring elements to take into account the structural weakening effect due to the steps. This paper demonstrates that the Timoshenko shaft model give rise to a significant error in the case of multi-stepped rotors. An effective bending spring model is introduced to represent the structural weakening effect in the presence of steps. The proposed modeling method is validated through a series of simulations and experiments. Finally, a spindle is dealt with as an analysis example.

  • The main objective of the research is to Propose an algorithm that to estimate the screwing torque from parameters of DC motor current without using any stain gage and torque cell. The auto screw drive system is divided into two parts, one is the DC motor ind the other is mechanical part in which the friction torque and damping ratio are a function of rotational of spindle electro motive force constant. The torque is estimated from the friction torque. The research is concerned with applying the method to an auto screw drive and the advantages and limitations are also discussed in this paper.

  • IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is widely used in many applications such as an electric vehicle, compressor drives of air conditioner and machine tool spindle drives. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper is proposed the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail by simulation.

  • Optical and electronic industries are using lapping and polishing processing as a final finish rather than grinding, because they need more accurate parts of brittles non-metallic materials such as single crystals. Sapphire has been ground by the ultra-precision surface grinder having a glass -ceramic spindle of extremely-low thermal expansion with various cup-type resinoid-bonded diamond wheels of #400-#3000 in grain size. Sapphire can be ground in the ductile mode. And also, the surface roughness and grinding conditions has been clarified. The smooth surface of Sapphire less than 1nm RMS, 1nm Ra can be obtained by the ultra-precision grinding without any polishing process.

  • High-speed machining is one of the most effective technology to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and high feed rate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. This paper describes on the improvement of machining accuracy in high-speed machining. Depth of cut, feed rate, spindle revolution and cutting force are control factors. The effect of the control factors on machining accuracy is discussed for the results of surface roughness and machining error in Z-direction for the high speed machining of STD11.

  • 기술과 과학이 끊임없이 발달되고 있는 가운데 생산기술과 생산공업도 비약적으로 발달되고 있다. 공작기계에 대한 요구사항은 일반적으로 고정도화, 고속도화 그리고 고능률화 나아가서는 자동화이다. 다시 말해서 더욱 좋은 품질(고정도화)과 저렴한 가격(고능률화)의 제품을 빨리 사용자에게 공급(고속화)할 수 있고, 다양한 제품을 만들 수 있는 공작기계가 요구되는 것이다. 고능률화 또는 고속화를 위해서는 고속절삭가공을 실현해야하며 그러기 위해서는 Spindle(주축)의 회전수를 높이고 각 축의 이송 속도가 빨라야 되며 절삭 이송을 고속화하여야 한다. 그리고, 머시닝센터에서는 공구를 자동으로 교환하는(ATC)을 신속히 해야 한다. 이와 같은 고속 공작기계에 대한 요구는 점점 많아지고 있으며 공작기계전시회가 열릴때마다 고속도화는 점점 진전되고 있다. 최근에는 주축의 회전수가 10,000$min^{-1}$은 보통이고 최고 40,000$min^{-1}$이상에 도달하고 있다.

  • This paper has been presented the hydrodynamic effect by the journal speed, eccentricity and source positions in order to overcome the defects of air bearing such as low stiffness and damping coefficient. Choosing the two row source position of air bearing is different from existed investigations in the side of pressure distribution of air film because of the high speed of journal and the wedge effects by the eccentricity. These optimal chooses of the two row source positions enable us to improve the performance of the film reaction force and loading force as making the high speed spindle. In this paper, the pressure behavior in theory of air film according to the eccentricity of journal and the source positions analyzed. The theoretical analysis have been identified by experiments. The results of investigated characteristics may be applied to precision devices like ultra-precision grinding machine and ultra high speed milling.
