Conversational Programming System for NC Lathes (I) (선반용 대화형 프로그래밍 시스템(I))

  • A conversational programming system for turning processes was studied to enhance the user friendliness of a NC Lathe by adopting man-machine interface functions through Delphi programming tool under the Windows 95 environment. Functions of tool collision checking were developed through zone limitation algorithms. Final shape of workpiece was generated by means of tree structure algorithm. Shop floor programming performance was incorporated in the developed CAM module. In order to increase flexibility of the man-machine interface, graphic based programming tools have been developed. A NC turning machine equipped with an open architecture PCNC was used as a test bed of the system. Performance of the system was verified through case studies.

  • In this study on machine measuring system based on solid feature was developed. This system was applied with injection mold using 3 dimensional solid modeler for verification. Developed program include pre-processor, main processor, and post processor. In pre-processor there are functions which check intersection, simulate motion of probe and calculate measuring time. Main processor generates measuring path and output NC code in Unigraphics. In post-processor functions that include evaluation of undercut or overcut and display of measuring procedure are offered. In addition analysis module for quality control of measured data on manufactured product was developed with geometric and dimensional tolerance concept. As the result developed program could get stability of system, precision of product, rapidity and cost down of manufacturing process compared with before measuring process.

  • To complite the high speed cutting system, It should be solved some problems, to make light the weight of mechanism for feedrate, develop the Linear motor that bas more power, high speed control system, and high speed cutting tools, nowadays, although many high speed cutting machine is to be built by some machine maker ,they have same problems, in this study, developed the system ball screw type before the feedrate mechanism for linear motor ,so we make the basic system for Line Cents . through that, it is limited to reduce the weight of frame and their frame is to be designed differently each other to reach the purpose special material or strucutre should be contrived.

  • Reconfiguration, expansion, or new establishment of FMS requires the availability of a shop floor control (SFC) system relevant to the FMS since it is closely related with the hardware component of FMS. Due to the expensive cost of its development, significant research efforts have been made to develop an SFC system that is reusable. This paper presents Abstract Machine Tool (AMT) approach applied to develop an SFC sytem that is reusable without additional programming. The AMT model enables us to design the SFC system independently of the hardware-dependent attributes of euqipment; an AMT models a workstation by abstraction and presents an equipment-independent interface to machining cell controller. Specifically, we describe how we formalize the interfaces among equipment in order to build an AMT and how we design the machining cell control software based on AMT models. We also present MACHINIST the machining cell control system for IAE-FMS plant as an implementation example.

  • This paper has studied thermal characteristics of machine tool to develope high speed spindle and optimum design condidering the thermal deformation. Comparing the test data of temperature measurement and structural analysis data using FEM, we verified the test validity and predicted thermal deformation, influence of spindle generation of heat, and established cooling system to prevent the thermal deformation. 1) The temperature rise of spindle system depends on increasing number of rotation and shows sudden doubling increment of number of rotation over 7,000rpm. 2) Oil jacket cooling can be effective cooling method below 8,000rpm but, over 8,000rpm, it shows the decrement of cooling effect. 3) Comparing FEM analysis results and revolution test results, we can confirm approximate temperature change consequently, it is possible to simulate temperature rise and thermal distribution on the inside of spindle system. 4) We can confirm that simulated approach by FEM analysis can be effective method in thermal-appropriate design.

  • This study has been focused on the development of an open architecture CNC system and integration of core application technology for machine tool such as a remote monitoring/diagnosis system, NURBS interpolation, and cutting process simulation. To do this, we have developed a comprehensive CNC software including the basic HMI, screen editor, ASF, and visual builder. As a control hardware system for machine tool, the universal I/O module and CNC main unit have been developed. Then the remote monitoring/diagnosis system and NURBS interpolation have been implemented in the CNC software. The cutting simulation software will be used for enhancing the productivity of machine tools. Through a simulator and test bed, the whole technology has been verified.

  • This paper presents a method for optima] placement of series capacitors in order to improve the power system transient stability, using genetic algorithms. For the formulation, this paper considers the objective function which is the energy margin as the difference between transient energy and critical energy. The most important factor in determining an accurate critical energy is the controlling unstable equilibrium point (UEP). This paper proposes the controlling UEP methods, concurrently with the DFP(Davidon-Fletcher-Powell) method, which enables the enhancement of multi-machine analysis. The proposed method is applied to 6-bus, 7-line, 4-machine model system to show its effectiveness in determining the locations to install series capacitors and the it's size to be installed in system, simultaneously.

  • An optimization approach is investigated for the design of new nozzle system in a automatic car wash machine. Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics and design of experiment methods have been employed to know the mutual interaction between the nozzle shape in the automatic car wash machine and the airflow velocity distribution on the vehicle surface. The performances of air nozzle system were defined as the velocity magnitude and the uniformity of the velocity on the surface of the car. Predicted jet velocity distributions for the optimized geometry were compared with experimental data and the comparisons showed generally good agreements. Also, the performance of the dryer was improved with the optimized results.

  • This paper proposed a control strategy for flywheel energy/recovery system with induction machine. The system is based on a vector controlled induction machine driving a flywheel and address the problem of regulating the DC-Link system voltage against input power shut-down. And we proposed the method to damp the oscillation of DC-Link. Experimental results are presented which verify the performance of the strategy.

  • The DAta management and Communication NETworks (DACONET), Which it is designed as a subsystem for Man-Machine Interface System of Korea Advanced LIquid MEtal Reactor(KALIMER MMIS) and advanced design concept is approached, is described. The DACONET has its roles of providing the real-time data transmission and communication paths between MMIS systems, providing the quality data for protection, monitoring and control of KALIMER and logging the static and dynamic behavioral data during KALIMER operation.
