Recently, some research has been done to analyze the asymptotic behavior of queue length distribution in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) multiplexer. In this paper, we relate this asymptotic behavior with the asymptotic behavior of decreasing cell loss probability when the buffer capacity is increased. We find with reasonable assumptions that the asymptotic rate of queue length distribution is the same as that of decreasing cell loss probability. Even under different priority control schemes and traffic classes, we find that this asymptotic rate of the individual cell loss probability of each traffic class does not change. As a consequence, we propose the upper bound of cell loss probability of each traffic class when a priority control scheme is employed. This bound is computationally feasible in a real-time. The numerical examples will be provided to validate this finding.

In this study, the performance of ATM multiplexer with MPEG(Motion Pictures Experts Group) video is analyzed by considering the effect of the MPEG GOP(Group of Pictures) structure. By assuming that frame starting times are synchronized, aggregated traffics are considered to be transmitted at the beginning of each frame time units. The aggregated number of cells generated during a frame time unit is, therefore, derived from distributions of individual sources. The stationary probability of buffer occupancy can be easily obtained by using a property of the periodicity of aggregated traffics. Simulation approach is also used to determine the traffic load for a given probability of satisfying QoS(Quality of Service).

본 논문에서는 광역 ATM 망에서 인터넷 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 입력 소스 트래픽의 QoS 등급에 기초한 라우터 시스템에 적용되는 다양한 스케줄링 알고리즘들을 분석하고 서비스 특성에 따라 QoS 요구사항을 보장할 수 있는 새로운 스케줄링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이를 위하여, 인터넷망에서의 패킷 다중화기의 요구사항을 살펴보고 실시간 서비스제공을 위한 패킷 다중화기의 기능 구조와, 다양한 QoS를 만족시키기 위한 스케줄링 알고리즘을 설계한다. 마지막으로 모의 실험을 통해 평균 지연 시간 및 망 자원 활용의 공평성 측면에서 알고리즘의 성능을 고찰한다.

최근 급속히 성장하고 있는 광통신산업의 발전에 있어서 주목할 만한 경향 중에 하나는 제품의 소형화 및 집적화라 할 것이다. 마이크로 광모듈 접속/조립 시스템은 광모듈을 소형화하고 고기능성 광통신 부품의 개발에 있어 가장 필요한 장비이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초소형 광모듈 접속/조립 시스템을 개발하기 위하여 두께가 약 30 $\mu\textrm{m}$인 박막형 필터와 렌즈일체형 파이버를 접속/조립할 수 있는 시스템을 개발 및 초소형 광통신용 1$\times$1 OADM(Optical Add/Drop Module) 모듈을 제작하였다.(중략)

We introduce a high-definition three-dimensional television (3DTV) broadcasting system that is fully compatible with the existing transmission system of high-definition television (HDTV). Specifically, we developed high-definition 3DTV broadcasting subsystems including a 3DTV camera, 3DTV video multiplexer and demultiplexer, 3DTV receiver, and 3DTV outdoor broadcast van. To verify the developed subsystems, we performed experimental services of 3DTV broadcasting during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan. According to our subjective evaluation test, 88% of 273 viewers rated the perceived depth of 3DTV as “Good,” and 36% of the viewers preferred 3DTV to other digital broadcasting services.

ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) has a fixed-length packet transport scheme. It is one of the promising proposals in B-ISDN.Since the packet length is fixed, it can be potentially to perform the various service to users. In this paper, a queueing model for an ATM multip`exer loaded by CBR and ON/OFF input sources is considered, and the two-queue system which each type of input sources has a queue with a finite capacity is analyzed. The cell loss probabilities for a performance measures of ATM multiplexer are derived, and are also evaluated through numerical examples. As a result, the cell loss probability of ON/OFF sources for the queue size is rapidly decreased when the multiplexed number and burstiness are increased. Since cells of the CBR source have lower priority than cells of the ON/OFF source, cell loss probabilities of CBR sources are accordingly high independently of CBR cell arrival rate when the number of CBR sources is large.

Mobile wire technology is a publicly available general purpose for Radio Frequency(RF) communication for short-range and point-to-multi point voice and data transfer. In this paper, we proposed a new technology of the synchronized frame structure which is based on the CDMA technique, and it's implemented into the VLSI design by FPGA. The developmental technique consists of an assigned coded type mobile communication equipments and available local mobile or wireless communication scheme quasi BT(Blue Tooth)'s functions as multiplexer or do-multiplexer for each other applications. We implement this architecture with special proposed frame structure in the local area network. Also, we expect the above proposed structure extend into the DS3 network architecture and applicable to the TE(Terminal Equipment) in the local communication area and the other one etc.

An output multiplexer of manifold type is widely employed in a recent satellite transponder due to its small size and mass. For correct operation, channel fillers in manifold multiplexer must be singly terminated. In this paper, a simple synthesis method fur a single terminated filter is described. From the given method, a 4-pole singly terminated elliptic function filter for Ka band satellite transponder is designed. The filter is shown to be suitable for satellite application and its measured results agrees well with computed ones.

In this paper we propose a new thchnology mapping algorithm for multiplexer-based FPGA's The algorithm consists of three phases` First, it converts the logic functions and the basic logic mocule into BDD's. Second. it covers the logic function with the basic logic modules. Lastly, it reduces the number of basic logic modules used to implement the logic function after going through cell merging procedure. The binate selection is employed to determine the order of input variables of the logic function to constructs the balanced BDD with low level. That enables us to constructs the circuit that has small size and delay time. Technology mapping algorithm of previous work used one basic logic module to implement a two-input or three-input function in logic functions. The algorithm proposed here merges almost all pairs of two-input and three-input functions that occupy one basic logic module. and improves the mapping results. We show the effectiveness of the algorithm by comparing the results of our experiments with those of previous systems.

In this study the cell arrival processes from pre-buffer into multiplexer for MPEG(Motion Picture Experts Group) coding video sources are analyzed with consideration of the traffic periodicity in frame level. The analysis is performed by introducing the two arrival models, that is, periodic on/off source model and periodic uniform arrival model. Modulated $N^*D$/D/1 queueing system is utilized in periodic on/off source model, while ${\Sigma}{N_i}^*D_i$/D/1 queueing system is used in periodic uniform arrival model. The presented models are validated by comparing with computer simulations. Numerical results for periodic uniform arrival model are shown to be very accurate, but those of periodic on/off source model are shown to be inaccurate as the number of sources are increased.
