Overlay Multicast Tree Building Algorithm for MDST and MST in Complete Network (완전 연결된 네트워크에서 MDST와 MST 목적을 갖는 오버레이 멀티캐스트 트리구현 알고리즘)

  • It is strongly believed that multicast will become one of the most promising services on internet for the next generation. Multicast service can be deployed either on network-layer or application-layer. IP multicast (network-layer multicast) is implemented by network nodes (i.e., routers) and avoids multiple copies of the same datagram on the same link. Despite the conceptual simplicity of IP multicast and its obvious benefits, it has not been widely deployed since there remain many unresolved issues. As an alternative to IP multicast, overlay multicast (application-layer multicast) implements the multicast functionality at end hosts rather than routers. This may require more overall bandwidth than IP multicast because duplicate packets travel the same physical links multiple times, but it provides an inexpensive, deployable method of providing point-to-multipoint group communication. In this paper we develop an efficient method applied greedy algorithm for solving two models of overlay multicast tree building problem that is aimed to construct MDST (Minimum Diameter Spanning Tree : minimum cost path from a source node to all its receivers) and MST (Minimum Spanning Tree : minimum total cost spanning all the members). We also simulate and analyze MDST and MST.

  • This letter presents an angular minimum spanning tree (AMST) algorithm for topology control in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks. The AMST algorithm builds up an MST for every angular sector of a given degree around each node to determine optimal transmission power for connecting to its neighbors. We demonstrate that AMST preserves both local and network-wide connectivity. It also improves robustness to link failure and mitigates transmission power waste.

  • The MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) matching algorithm had been used for searching the part accord points extracted from the gray level fingerprint image. The method, however, had some limitations. To obtain the relationship between enrolled and inputted fingerprint, the MST was used to generate the tree graph that represent the unique graph for given fingerprint data. From the graph, the accord points are estimated. However, the shape of the graph highly depends on the positions of the minutiae.   • It is required to transmit data through shorter path between sensor and base node for real time intrusion detection in wireless sensor networks (WSN) with a mobile base node. Because minimum Wiener index spanning tree (MWST) based routing approach guarantees lower average hop count than that of minimum spanning tree (MST) based routing method in WSN, it is known that MWST based routing is appropriate for real time intrusion detection. However, the minimum Wiener index spanning tree problem which aims to find a spanning tree which has the minimum Wiener index from a given weighted graph was proved to be a NP-hard. And owing to its high dependency on certain nodes, minimum Wiener index tree based routing method has a shorter network lifetime than that of minimum spanning tree based routing method. In this paper, we propose a multi-objective ant colony optimization algorithm to tackle these problems, so that it can be used to detect intrusion in real time in wireless sensor networks with a mobile base node. And we compare the results of our proposed method with MST based routing and MWST based routing in respect to average hop count, network energy consumption and network lifetime by simulation.

Fast Determination of Minimum Spanning Tree Based on Down-sizing Technique of Edges Population (간선 모집단 규모축소 기법을 적용한 빠른 최소신장트리 결정)

  • This paper suggests a method of lessening number of a graph's edges population in order to rapidly obtain the minimum spanning tree. The present minimum spanning tree algorithm works on all the edges of the graph. However, the suggested algorithm reduces the edges population size by means of applying a method of deleting maximum weight edges in advance from vertices with more than 2 valencies. Next, it applies a stopping criterion which ideally terminates Borůvka, Prim, Kruskal and Reverse-Delete algorithms for reduced edges population. On applying the suggested algorithm to 9 graphs, it was able to minimize averagely 83% of the edges that do not become MST. In addition, comparing to the original graph, edges are turned out to be lessened 38% by Borůvka, 37% by Prim, 39% by Kruskal and 73% by Reverse-Delete algorithm, and thereby the minimum spanning tree is obtained promptly.

Minimum Spanning Tree Algorithm for Deletion of Maximum Weight Edge within a Cycle (한 사이클 내에서 최대 가중치 간선을 제거하기 위한 최소 신장트리 알고리즘)

  • This paper suggests a method that obtains the minimum spanning tree (MST) far more easily and rapidly than the present ones. The suggested algorithm, firstly, simplifies a graph by means of reducing the number of edges of the graph. To achieve this, it applies a method of eliminating the maximum weight edge if the valency of vertices of the graph is equal to or more than 3. As a result of this step, we can obtain the reduced edge population. Next, it applies a method in which the maximum weight edge is eliminated within the cycle. On applying the suggested population minimizing and maximum weight edge deletion algorithms to 9 various graphs, as many as the number of cycles of the graph is executed and MST is easily obtained. It turns out to lessen 66% of the number of cycles and obtain the MST in at least 2 and at most 8 cycles by only deleting the maximum weight edges.

  • This paper suggests an algorithm that obtains the Minimum Spanning Tree for directed graph (DMST). The existing Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST algorithm has chances of the algorithm not being able to find DMST or of the sum of ST not being the least. The suggested algorithm is made in such a way that it always finds DMST, rectifying the disadvantage of Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST algorithm. Firstly, it chooses the Minimum-Weight Arc (MWA) from all the nodes including a root node, and gets rid of the nodes in which cycle occurs after sorting them in an ascending order. In this process, Minimum Spanning Forest (MST) is obtained. If there is only one MSF, DMST is obtained. And if there are more than 2 MSFs, to determine MWA among all MST nodes, it chooses a method of directly calculating the sum of all the weights, and hence simplifies the emendation process for solving a cycle problem of Chu-Liu/Edmonds DMST algorithm. The suggested Sulee DMST algorithm can always obtain DMST that minimizes the weight of the arcs no matter if the root node is set or not, and it is also capable to find the root node of a graph with minimized weight.

  • We propose more enhanced heuristic for the GOSST(Grade of Services Steiner Minimum Tree) problem in this paper. GOSST problem is a variation of Steiner Tree problem and to find a network topology satisfying the G-Condition with minimum network construction cost. GOSST problem is known as one of NP-Hard or NP-Complete problems. In previous our research, we proposed a heuristic employing Direct Steiner Point Locating strategy with Distance Preferring MST building strategy. In this paper, we propose new Steiner point locating strategy, Zigzag Steiner point Locating strategy. Through the results of out experiments, we can assert this strategy is better than our previous works. The Distance Zigzag GOSST method which hires the Distance Preferring MST building strategy and Zigzag Steiner point Locating strategy defrays the least network construction cost and brings 31.5% cost saving by comparison to G-MST, the experimental control and 2.2% enhancement by comparison to the Distance Direct GOSST method, the best GOSST method in our previous research.

Three Dimensional Euclidean Minimum Spanning Tree for Connecting Nodes of Space with the Shortest Length (공간 노드들의 최단연결을 위한 3차원 유클리드 최소신장트리)

  • In general, Euclidean minimum spanning tree is a tree connecting input nodes with minimum connecting cost. But the tree may not be optimal when applied to real world problems of three dimension. In this paper, three dimension Euclidean minimum spanning tree is proposed, connecting all input nodes of 3-dimensional space with minimum cost. In experiments for 30,000 input nodes with 100% space ratio, the tree produced by the proposed method can reduce 90.0% connection cost tree, compared with the tree by two dimension Prim's minimum spanning tree. In two dimension plane, the proposed tree increases 251.2% connecting cost, which is pointless in 3-dimensional real world. Therefore, the proposed method can work well for many connecting problems in real world space of three dimensions.
