  • 본 논문에서는 권선형 엘리베이터 시스템의 종방향의 운동을 표현할 수 있는 운동방정식을 도출한다. 기존의 권선형 엘리베이터 시스템의 종진동을 억제하기 위하여 MR유체를 특징으로 하는 댐퍼를 적용하고, MR댐퍼가 적용된 시스템의 운동방정식을 도출한다. 부하하는 자기장에 따른 엘리베이터 시스템의 종진동 저감의 변화를 관찰하였다.

  • Localized nodular synovitis of the knee joint is a rare benign tumorous condition, and should be differentially diagnosed with pigmented villonodular synovitis. We report a case of localized nodular synovitis in the knee that was noted to have a pedicle and characteristic findings on MR image.

  • This paper presents the control method for the hybrid actuator comprising a DC motor and an MR brake. Generally, a DC motor as an active actuator has a small power to weight ratio and goes unstable with higher force control gain due to its saturation limit. In order to cope with this instability and make the transparency higher, this paper proposes a hybrid actuator which consists of a DC motor and an MR brake as a passive actuator and its force control method based on network theory. A DC motor actively produces the output corresponding to the signs of the input currents. On the other hand, an MR brake passively resists against the external load independent of the sign changes of the input currents. This characteristics is widely known as 'passive' This paper suggests a force control method based on passivity concept in network theory for the hybrid actuator and verified its performance and stability through the experiments.

Automated Brain Region Extraction Method in Head MR Image Sets (머리 MR영상에서 자동화된 뇌영역 추출)

  • A noel automated brain region extraction method in single channel MR images for visualization and analysis of a human brain is presented. The method generates a volume of brain masks by automatic thresholding using a dual curve fitting technique and by 3D morphological operations. The dual curve fitting can reduce an error in clue fitting to the histogram of MR images. The 3D morphological operations, including erosion, labeling of connected-components, max-feature operation, and dilation, are applied to the cubic volume of masks reconstructed from the thresholded Drain masks. This method can automatically extract a brain region in any displayed type of sequences, including extreme slices, of SPGR, T1-, T2-, and PD-weighted MR image data sets which are not required to contain the entire brain. In the experiments, the algorithm was applied to 20 sets of MR images and showed over 0.97 of similarity index in comparison with manual drawing.

Automatic Meniscus Segmentation from Knee MR Images using Multi-atlas-based Locally-weighted Voting and Patch-based Edge Feature Classification (무릎 MR 영상에서 다중 아틀라스 기반 지역적 가중 투표 및 패치 기반 윤곽선 특징 분류를 통한 반월상 연골 자동 분할)

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic segmentation method of meniscus in knee MR images by automatic meniscus localization, multi-atlas-based locally-weighted voting, and patch-based edge feature classification. First, after segmenting the bone and knee articular cartilage, the volume of interest of the meniscus is automatically localized. Second, the meniscus is segmented by multi-atlas-based locally-weighted voting taking into account the weights of shape and intensity distribution in the volume of interest of the meniscus. Finally, to remove leakage to the collateral ligaments with similar intensity, meniscus is refined using patch-based edge feature classification considering shape and distance weights. Dice similarity coefficient between proposed method and manual segmentation were 80.13% of medial meniscus and 80.81 % for lateral meniscus, and showed better results of 7.25% for medial meniscus and 1.31% for lateral meniscus compared to the multi-atlas-based locally-weighted voting.

  • This research proposed a dashpot type mount design using MR fluids, and derived governing equation of the proposed design considering the design parameters of the mount and the Bingham characteristics of MR fluids, which affect the damping forces of the dashpot MR fluid mount. In odor to observe the change of magnetic properties which occurs from the solenoid, the effective length of the magnetic pole and the structure of core are selected as design parameters. The magnetic field quality is calculated in compliance with an equivalent magnetic circuit method. When the effective length of pole increases, the magnetic resistance of the pole of the MR mount decreased, and the magnetic flux density is increased. The result which uses a commercial business software and the result in compliance with equivalent magnetic circuit method shows the tendency which is similar.

Clinical Significance of MRI Findings During Medical Treatment for Tuberculous Spondylitis (척추염 환자의 약물치료기간 중 추적 검사한 MRI소견 변화의 임상적 중요성)

  • Purpose : To evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) imaging features of non-surgically treated tuberculous spondylitis and to evaluate the relationships between these features and clinical outcomes. Materials and Methods : Data from ten patients (male:female=6:4, mean age=45 years) with clinically proven tuberculous spondylitis who were treated nonsurgically over three months were analyzed retrospectively from 2000 to 2007. MRI was performed at least three times for each patient, at baseline, every three or six months, and at the end of treatment. All images were analyzed by two radiologists. Results : The mean follow-up period for the MR examination was 10.1 months (range, 4-17 months). Six patients had clinically complete resolution of tuberculous spondylitis with medication treatment only. Four patients were treated with surgical management alongside medication. All ten patients were divided into two groups by clinical outcome; six patients with complete treatment and four patients with incomplete treatment. In the complete treatment group, follow-up MR findings showed a loss of subligamentous spread of abscesses, decreased size of abscesses, no interval changes in vertebral body heights, and fatty changes in spinal lesions. MR findings in the incomplete treatment group showed bone marrow edema extension to adjacent vertebra, extension of the abscesses, and decreased height of the vertebral bodies. Conclusion : During the nonsurgical management of tuberculous spondylitis, MR imaging may play a role in predicting patient response to antituberculous drug treatment.

  • MR 영상에서 간의 인식은 간에 존재하는 질병을 파악하는 것뿐만 아니라 간에 대한 치료 방법이나 수술방법을 결정하는 중요한 정보를 제공한다. 이러한 일반적인 간의 인식 방법은 영역 분할 알고리즘을 기반으로 처리되어진다. IT분야에서의 영역 분할 알고리즘은 대부분 밝기 정보, 형태 정보, 패턴 분석 등 다양한 입력 정보의 컴퓨팅 처리를 통해 처리되어 진다. 그러나 이러한 컴퓨팅 방법으로는 앞서 언급된 입력정보들이 의미가 없을 경우, 영역 분할에 많은 제약이 따르게 된다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 컴퓨팅 처리의 근본적인 제약사항을 해결하고자, MR 이론의 R2-map정보 기반의 효과적인 영역 분할 방법은 제안하였다. 본 방법은 간 영역이 포함된 영상에서 실험하였으며, R2-map맵의 일부 특징점을 Region growing의 Seed point로 설정하여 경계가 모호하더라도 영역 분할이 가능하게끔 하였다. 해당 영상의 실험 결과 8.5%의 평균 오차로 일반적인 영역 분할 알고리즘에 비해 높은 정확도가 산출되었다.

Liquid Phase Adsorption Equilibria of Amines onto High Silica Zeolite, Macroreticular Resin and Granular Activated Carbon (고시리카제올라이트, 거대망상수지 및 입상활성탄에 의한 아민류의 액상흡착평형)

  • Liquid phase adsorption equilibria of amines in an aqueous solution onto high silica zeolite pellets (HSZ), macroreticular resin particles (MR) and granular activated carbon (GAC) were determined using a batch bottle technique at 298K. The isotherm curves of HSZ-amines and GAC-amines indicate the nonlinear relationship of unfavorable adsorption type of HSZ-amines and favourable one of GAC-amines. However the curves of MR-amines represent the linear pattern of an adsorption isotherm. Among various equilibrium isotherms, the three parameters of the Redlich-Peterson equation and the two parameters of the Freundlich equation are found to be the most satisfactory within the range of this study. The two parameters of the Langmuir isotherm were not applicable to the present adsorption systems. The amines were adsorbed on the HSZ, MR and GAC in the following sequence of adsorptivity; aromatic amines > primary amines > secondary amines. The product of the Freundlich constants, k and n, proportionally increased with the boiling point, molar volume and dissociation constants of amines adsorbed on HSZ, MR and GAC.

Image Retrieval Using Combination of Color and Multiresolution Texture Features (칼라 및 다해상도 질감 특징 결합에 의한 영상검색)

  • We propose a content-based image retrieval(CBIR) method based on an efncient combination of a color feature and multiresolution texture features. As a color feature, a HSV autocorrelograrn is chosen which is blown to measure spatial correlation of colors well. As texture features, BDIP and BVLC moments are chosen which is hewn to measure local intensity variations well and measure local texture smoothness well, respectively. The texture features are obtained in a wavelet pyramid of the luminance component of a color image. The extracted features are combined for efficient similarity computation by the normalization depending on their dimensions and standard deviation vectors. Experimental results show that the proposed method yielded average $8\%\;and\;11\%$ better performance in precision vs. recall than the method using BDIPBVLC moments and the method using color autocorrelograrn, respectively and yielded at least $10\%$ better performance than the methods using wavelet moments, CSD, color histogram. Specially, the proposed method shows an excellent performance over the other methods in image DBs contained images of various resolutions.
