Design and Performance Evaluation for VPNs based (MPLS 기반 VPN 제공을 위한 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper proposes that an efficient routing entry sending method between routing controller FE. based on this method, we organize IP VPN support method based on MPLS network and design MPLS-VPN service control module, MPLS-VPN processing, VPN group configuration and LSP setup processing. We evaluate the performance about the VPN based on proposed MPLS, at the result of evaluation. We figure out that based on proposed IPC method, lost packets number reduces and delay increases more slowly in case of VPN based on MPLS comparing with the VPN based on ATM which has rapid delay increasement. Therefore we confirm that the VPN based on MPLS has high speed of packet processing and high utilization of buffers through the performance evaluation.

  • MPLS(Multi-protocol Label Switching)는 차세대 인터넷(NGI : Next Generation Internet)에서 중계 망 구성을 위한 핵심기술로서 사용되고 있다. MPLS는 다양한 계층 2기술을 수용하며, 계층 2 기술에 독립된 형태의 중계망 구성 기술을 제공한다. 실제 대규모의 MPLS 인터넷 중계망을 구성위해 MPLS의 성능 측정과 분석 그리고 분석 결과에 따른 관리 기능이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 MPLS 기반의 인터넷 중계망의 성능 측정과 관리를 위한 MPLS OAM(Operation, Administration, and Maintenance)기능을 제안하고 OPNET을 기반으로 한 시뮬레이션 모델로 구현하여 제안한 기능을 검증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 ATM 기반 MPLS 망에서 xDSL 가입자에게 PPP 서비스를 제공하기 위한 PPP 서버 구조 설계에 대하여 기술하고 있다. 이 ATM-LSR에서의 PPP 서버는 PPP를 통해 ATM 망으로의 접속을 제공하는 PPPoA 서버와 기존의 LAN 환경에서 PPP 접속을 제공할 수 있는 PPPoE 서버의 기능을 동시에 제공할 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 통합된 서버를 위한 AAL5 상에서의 인캡슐레이션 기법 및 포워딩 엔진과의 인터페이스 구조를 제시하고자 한다.

  • 최근 인터넷 망에서는 사용자에 의한 다양한 IP서비스 요구의 증가와 더불어 목적지를 기반으로 한 Hop by Hop 방식의 패킷 전송으로 인해 트래픽 병목 구간이 늘어나고 있는 실정이다. 트래픽 병목 구간의 증가는 최상의 서비스 품질을 보장받고자 하는 사용자의 요구를 충족시키지 못한다. 사용자의 요구를 충족시키기 위해 QoS 지원이 용이한 MPLS 망이 부각되었다. 본 논문에서는 MPLS 망에서 QoS를 보장하기 위해서 Ingreess LER(Label Edge Router)에서 패킷과 LSP간의 매핑을 위해 이전 MPLS 레이블 스택을 새롭게 정의하고 변경된 레이블 스택을 지원하기 위한 LSR의 구조를 설계한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 인터넷망에서 MPLS 기술을 이용해서 고품질 음성 서비스를 지원하기 위한 Voice over MPLS 기술의 표준화 동향에 대해 조사 분석하고, 국내 기술 개발시의 고려 사항에 대해 고찰한다. Voice over MPLS 기술에 대한 표준화는 IETF와 MPLS Forum에서 적극적으로 추진하고 있으며, 기술적으로는 Voice directly over MPLS 구조와 VoIP over MPLS의 두 가지 구조가 연구되고 있다.

  • In this paper, we present a methodology for fast segment restoration under multiple simultaneous link failures in mesh-type MPLS networks. The salient feature of the methodology is that both resilience and QoS constraint conditions have been taken into account for fast segment restoration. For fast restoration, a sufficient condition for testing the existence of backup segments with guaranteed-resilience has been derived for a mesh-type MPLS network. The algorithms for constructing backup segments which can meet both resilience and QoS constraint conditions are then presented with illustrating examples. Finally, simulation has been done to show the efficiency of the proposed segment restoration algorithms.

  • Communication is be classified into public network and private network. VPN is made by integrating the circuit cost reduction of public network and the reliable security support of public network. This paper analyzes the IPSec using three layer tunneling, MPLS(Multi Protocol Label Switching) integrating 2 layer switching and 3 layer routing techniques and dedicated line from the viewpoint of security. In conclusion, VPN is better than dedicated network line in cost and security. If IPSec VPN is compared with MPLS VPN, MPLS VPN is more excellent than IPSec VPN in safe data transmission, cost, QoS and management.

A Simplified QoS Model for MPLS Networks (MPLS 네트워크를 위한 간략화된 QoS 모델)

  • In this paper, a simplified QoS model of MPLS-based backbone network. Conventional scheme proposed by IETF(IETF schem) is to embed a DiffServ model in MPLS network. However, this approach results in overall upgrade of MPLS system and so it is difficult to deploy this approach. Our proposed model, however, uses a Vidual Link which is a set of Label Switched Path(LSP) connected from an Ingress Label Edge Router(LER) to an Egress LER. In this model, Per-Hop-Behavior(PHB) is implemented only at each LSP in ingress LER and Core Label Switch Routers(LSRs) just guarantee each LSP's bandwidth, not service. This bandwidth guarantee service is fully provided by legacy MPLS model. Also we propose flow allocation mechanism and the flow distribution among LSPs of the virtual link by the flow according to the network status. To evaluate the simplified approach, the characteristics of the approach are compared logically with these of IETF's one through simulations.

  • This paper proposes the architecture of Intermediate System to Intermediate System routing protocol. IS-IS is a link state routing protocol designed to provide routing in a network layer protocols with datagram services. IS-IS has favored scalability and stability. So, it is important to support IS-IS for the MPLS system used in backbone networks. Especially, IS-IS must provide network state information and available resource information for supporting qualify of services in MPLS network. Therefore, we propose the design architecture of IS-IS routing protocol and the implementation technologies. Also, we propose extended architecture for traffic engineering in ATM based MPLS system.

  • In order to provide a proper mobile internet service, Mobile IP is necessary to support IP mobility. Service network should be a backbone network among mobile agents which support mobility, and MPLS(Multi-protocol Label Switching) of IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) is being considered as a backbone network because of its speed, scalability and the excellent service capability. MPLS, however, doesn't provide a way to support the mobility of the nodes. In this paper, we present an efficient IMT-2000 network architecture using MPLS to handle Mobile IP. The proposed architecture combines the MPLS label distribution and Mobile IP registration. It doesn't use the layer 3 encapsulation, instead it uses layer 2 for tunneling the data, reduces the size of the header, and it can tunnel the data without delay, which is needed to look up the mobility binding list, as a result.
