  • A MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) mixer chip using the Schottky diode of an GaAs p-HEMT process has been developed for the I/Q demodulator of non-contact near field microwave probing system. A single balanced mixer type is adopted to achieve simple structure of the I/Q demodulator. A quadrature hybrid coupler and a quarter wavelength transmission line for 180 degree hybrid are realized with lumped elements of MIM capacitor and spiral inductor to reduce the mixer chip size. According to the on-wafer measurement, this MMIC mixer covers RF and LO frequencies of 1650MHz to 2050MHz with flat conversion loss. The MMIC mixer with miniature size of $2.5mm{\times}1.7mm$ demonstrates conversion loss below 12dB for both variations of RF and LO frequencies, LO-to-IF isolation above 43dB and RF-to-IF isolation above 23dB, respectively.

  • In general, the gears of mixer reducer for concrete mixer truck make use of the differential type planetary gear system to rotate mixer drum smoothly on the initial conditions. The planetary gear system is very important part of mixer reducer for concrete mixer truck because of strength problem. In the present study, calculating the gear specifications and analyzing the gear bending & compressive stresses of the differential planetary gear system for mixer reducer are necessary to analyze gear bending and compressive stresses confidently, for optimal design of the planetary gear system in respect to cost and reliability. As a result, analyzing actual gear bending and compressive stresses of the planetary gear system using Lewes & Hertz equation and verifying the calculated specifications of the planetary gear system, evaluate the results with the data of allowable bending and compressive stress from the Stress-No. of cycles curves of gears.

  • One of the obstructing factors against managing large-scaled dairy farm in Korea has been heavy labor requirement for feeding dairy cows. A tractor attached TMR mixer was developed to reduce the cost and to provide economic benefit in this research. The TMR mixer was designed to have a feeding capacity of 35 heads at a batch with various functioning systems of paddle type mixer, cutter and grinder, delivery conveyor, weighing console, power transmission train, and mounting trailer. The maximum power required during the mixing operarion was 26.3 kw(P.T.O), readily available from 32kw-rated tractors, which had been widely used in Korea. Low coefficient of variation(14.0%) revealed an uniform mixing performance of the mixer. The mixer can also be used in compost mixing as well as concentrates and roughage.

  • A low-power down-sampling mixer in a low-power digital 65 nm CMOS technology is presented. The mixer consumes only 830 ${\mu}W$ at 1.2 V supply voltage by combining an NMOS and a PMOS mixer with cascade transistors at the output. The measured gain is (19 ${\pm}$1 dB) at frequencies between 100 MHz and 3 GHz. An IIP3 of -5.9 dBm is achieved.

  • Fluid mixing is ubiquitous and essential in many natural and industrial systems. Understanding the mixing processes that occur in these diverse systems is essential for predicting many aspects of practical importance. The objective of this study was to develop a new mixing element and to perform the experimental investigation of flow and mixing in a static mixer that is equipped the new element and the others. Glycerin and gear oil were used as mixing fluids. Pressure drops across the static mixer elements of different designs and different numbers were measured using a hydraulic manometer The axial and cross-sectional views of tracer mixing were photographed using a digital camera. The pressure drops of SSM mixer were about 20% less than that of Sulzer mixer whereas the mixing performance of SSM mixer was not so good as that of Sulzer mixer

  • In response to the current situation where general methods cannot effectively compensate for the phase delay of ordinary optical mixers, a multi-layer spatial beam-splitting optical mixer is designed using total reflection triangular prisms and polarization beam splittings. The phase delay is generated by the wave plate, and the mixer can use the existing parallel plates in the structure to individually compensate for the phase of the four output beams. A mixer model is established based on the structure, and the influence of the position and orientation of the optical components on the phase delay is analyzed. The feasibility of the phase compensation method is simulated and analyzed. The results show that the mixer can effectively compensate for the four outputs of the optical mixer over a wide range. The mixer has a compact structure, good performance, and significant advantages in phase error control, production, and tuning, making it suitable for free-space coherent optical communication systems.

  • Quantum RF impedance of SIS (superconductor insulator superconductor) junction has been analyzed by using through on tucker's quantum mixer theory in the frequency range form 80 GHz to 120 GHz. The embedding impedance of waveguide-type mixer mount and its equivalent circuit have been evaluated. From these evaluated results, the impedance matching efficiency between mixer mount embedding impedance and mixer port impedance of upper-side band and IF which were determined by augmented admittance matrix with given backshort position has been discussed in detail. It is found that the mixer with fixed backshort mount ahs a impedance matching efficiency about 80% at each port of mixer within 85GHz to 115GHz, which implys a conversion los of mixer would be good enough to be operated such a wide band frequency range. Therefore, the theoretical evaluated results show that our method can be used ot design the mixer mount without any mechanical tuning elements such a backshort or an E-plane tunners for wide band operation.

  • This paper presents the design and analysis of 2.45GHz Low-IF Mixer using CMOS 0.18um. The Mixer is implemented by using the Gilbert-type configuration, current bleeding technique, and the resonating technique for the tail capacitance. And the design of this Double Balance Mixer is based on its lineaity since it is important in the interference cancellation system. The low flicker noise mixer is implemented by incorporating a double balanced Gilber-type configuration, the RF leakage-less current bleeding technique, and Cp resonating technique. The proposed mixer has a simulated conversion gain of 16dB a simulated IIP3 of -3.3dBm and P1dB is -19dBm. A simulated noise figure of 6.9dB at l0MHz and a flicker corner frequency of 510kHz while consuming only 10.65mW od DC power. The layout of Mixer for one-chip design in a 0.18-um TSMC process has 0.474mm$\times$0.39 mm size.

  • In this paper, we consider the factors that affect a conversion loss performance in designing a single balanced diode mixer integrated with IRF(Image Reject Filter), based on the embedded electrical wavelength placed between the IRF and mixer, diode matching and LO drive amplifier. To evaluate the conversion loss performance, we suggest two types of a single balanced mixer using 90 degree branch line coupler, microstrip line and schottky diode. One is only mixer and the other is integrated with IRF and LO drive amplifier. The measured results of a single balance diode mixer integrated IRF show the conversion loss of 8.5 dB and the flatness of 1 dB p-p from 21.2 GHz to 22.6 GHz with 10 dBm LO. The measured input PI dB and IIP3 are 7 dBm and 15 dBm respectively under the nominal LO power level of 10dBm. The LO/RF and LO/IF isolation are 22 dB and 50 dB, respectively.
