Performance Analysis of Multiuser MIMO Systems with Zero Forcing Receivers (Zero Forcing 수신기를 결합한 다중사용자 다중안테나 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we consider multiuser multi-input/multi-output antenna systems with zero-forcing receivers in downlink. In this case, to exploit multiuser diversity, spatial-division multiple access (SDMA) system allows to assign different users to a part of transmit antennas at the base station whereas spatial-division multiplexing (SDM) system assigns all antennas to single user's data stream. In this paper, we present analytical frameworks to evaluate performance of these systems. We first analyze the performance of these two systems by deriving closed-form expressions of achievable throughput. Numerical results show that the derived expressions are very tight. In addition, we approximate the capacity expression of SDM and SDMA systems and compare the SDM with the optimal case.

  • LTE-Advanced system requires uplink multi-antenna transmission in order to achieve the peak spectral efficiency of 15bps/Hz. In this paper, the uplink MIMO system model for the LTE-Advanced is proposed and an efficient link adaptation shceme using precoding is considered providing error rate reduction and system capacity enhancement. In particular, the proposed scheme determines a transmission rank by selecting the optimal wideband precoding matrix, which is based on the derived signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR) for the minimum mean squared error (MMSE) receivers of $2{\times}4$ multiple input multiple output (MIMO). The proposed scheme is verified by simulation with a practical MIMO channel model. The simulation results of average block-error-rate(BLER) reflect that the gain due to the proposed rank adapted transmission over full-rank transmission is evident particularly in the case of lower modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and high mobility, which means the severe channel fading environment.

  • Visible light communication is a communication method using an LED's blinking(ON/OFF), it has a feature of light because of the limit of perception by the human's optic nerve. LED' dimming control used in the VLC system is important factor needed to provide energy saving and life benefits. With advances in VLC system, MIMO technology has received much attention in that it can be obtain channel capacity proportionate to the number of antenna. Therefore, in this paper, with RC method which is one of the MIMO style in VLC system, it is compared communication performance using RZ-OOK, VPPM, MPPM and OPPM. As a result of the simulation was run against this, MPPM works well in terms of Power requirement and OPPM works well in terms of Spectral efficiency and Bandwidth requirement, also it was confirmed that there is a significant impact on the communication performance of each modulation scheme according to the dimming.

  • In this paper, we propose a pilot based channel estimation technique in two-way relay networks. We propose to transmit a pilot symbol together with the data symbol during transmission. In absence of Channel State Information (CSI), destination uses the pilot symbol to estimate the channel. In this system, the relay amplifies the pilot and the data symbol then forward them to the destination using amplify and forward (AF) protocol. We assume that the relay gain is fixed, so the relay does not need to estimate the channel, the destination only estimate the channel. We apply well-known Least-square (LS) and minimum mean-square error (MMSE) channel estimation methods to estimate the channel.

  • Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology applied with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is considered as the ultimate solution to increase channel capacity without any additional spectral resources. At the receiver side, the challenge resides in designing low complexity detection algorithms capable of separating independent streams sent simultaneously from different antennas. In this paper, we introduce an upper-lower bounded-complexity QRD-M algorithm (ULBC QRD-M). In the proposed algorithm we solve the problem of high extreme complexity of the conventional sphere decoding by fixing the upper bound complexity to that of the conventional QRD-M. On the other hand, ULBC QRD-M intelligently cancels all unnecessary hypotheses to achieve very low computational requirements. Analyses and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves the performance of conventional QRD-M with only 26% of the required computations.

  • The utilization techniques for multiple transmit and receive antennas or high capacity modulation schemes are essential to cope with the rapidly increasing demand for realizing more diverse wireless communication services with high rates. However, employing multiple receive antennas at the mobile units seems less practical due at the size and power limitations. Therefore, transmit diversify techniques have been extensively investigated for the downlink transmission to improve the performance In order to overcome the above mentioned problems, we construct a simulation model which combines STC and polarization diversity which scheme is requiring less cost to realize. Multi-level quadrature amplitude modulation (MQAM) is an attractive modulation scheme for wireless communication due to the high spectral efficiency it provides. Thus, the performance for our scheme is presented when 16QAM modulation techniques are applied. and compared with the former schemes.

Capacity Maximizing Adaptive Subcarrier Selection in OFDM with Limited Feedback (OFDM 용량 극대화를 위한 적응 부 반송파 선택에 관한 연구)

  • We propose an efficient adaptive subcarrier selection scheme, in which the active subcarriers and their modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) are selected at the receiver, and subsequently conveyed to the transmitter using limited feedback We theoretically show that capacity maximization can be achieved by selecting subcarriers with highest signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and adapting the number of active subcarriers according to channel environments. Furthermore, an ordering based adaptive subcarrier selection algorithm is proposed to select the optimal active subcarriers with low complexity. Numerical results show that the proposed adaptive subcarrier selection scheme provides higher capacity than that obtained by water-filling approaches, even with limited feedback.

  • Recently flexible mobile terminals which can freely change the shape of their device are coming out with the development of the flexible display, high capacity memory and system integration technology. The display and the antenna configuration of the future terminals will be altered according to the QoS (quality of service) and the communication environment of users. In particular, we present the new emergence of a multimedia language for human and system to communicate over subjective concepts, intention of users. The intension of users is expressed by changing the shape of their mobile terminal. In addition, antenna configuration is also related to shape of terminal and QoS of users. Therefore, we set up a specific usage scenarios for future mobile terminals and propose an adaptive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) schemes that can maximize channel capacity and fit to QoS of users simultaneously.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel equal-gain differential precoding scheme utilizing temporal correlation of channels. The conventional differential precoding schemes only quantize a part of channel space not the whole channel space, so that it virtually increases codebook size which enhances the system capacity. But the conventional differential schemes increase peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) without preserving equal-gain transmission. This paper proposes the design method of equal-gain differential precoding scheme and analyzes the performances of the proposed equal-gain precoding scheme. Monte-Carlo simulations verify that the proposed scheme has an advantage of 1dB to obtain the same system capacity with the same amount of feedback information compared with the conventional LTE schemes, with showing very low PAPR property.

  • In this paper, we consider 19 cells with the two tiers for polar-rectangular coordinates (PRCs) and provide the cell edge performance of cellular networks based on distance from cell center i.e., BS (base station). When FFR is applied(or adopted) to cell edge, it is expected that BS cooperation, or a coordinated multipoint (CoMP) multiple access strategy will further improve the system performance. We proposed a new method to evaluate the sum rate capacity of the MIMO DC of multicell system. We improve the performance of cell edge users for intercell interference cancelation in cooperative downlink multicell systems. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the reference schemes, in terms of cell edge SINR (signal-to-interference-noise ratio) with a minimal impact on the network path loss exponent. We show 13 dB improvements in cell-edge SINR by using reuse of three relative to reuse of one. BS cooperation has been proposed to mitigate the cell edge effect.
