  • This study addresses a low complexity and lossless frame memory compression algorithm based on block-buffer structure for efficient high resolution video processing. Our study utilizes the block-based MHT (modified Hadamard transform) for spatial decorrelation and AGR (adaptive Golomb-Rice) coding as an entropy encoding stage to achieve lossless image compression with low complexity and efficient hardware implementation. The MHT contains only adders and 1-bit shift operators. As a result of AGR not requiring additional memory space and memory access operations, AGR is effective for low complexity development. Comprehensive experiments and computational complexity analysis demonstrate that the proposed algorithm accomplishes superior compression performance relative to existing methods, and can be applied to hardware devices without image quality degradation as well as negligible modification of the existing codec structure. Moreover, the proposed method does not require the memory access operation, and thus it can reduce costs for hardware implementation and can be useful for processing high resolution video over Full HD.

  • Various technologies have been developed to more efficiently share content such as P2P and CDN. These technologies take a common approach that request packets are responded by distributed network nodes, not by a single distributor. Such approaches not only resolve network congestion around content distributors, but also make it possible to distribute content regardless of the system and network status of content distributors. However, when receiving content from distributed nodes/hosts, not from authenticated distributors, users cannot practically identify which node/host sent content to them. Due to this characteristic, various hacking caused by the malicious modification of content is possible. Therefore, to make such approaches more secure, a content authentication technique is required. In this paper, we propose a improved operation of MHT used in CCN for authenticating distributed content. Then we evaluate the proposed method by comparing its performance with the existing technology.

  • This paper presents an efficient hash chain-based data authentication mechanism which can considerably reduce the overhead of processing and transmission for authenticating segments in CCN. The proposed method makes use of hash chain and MHT(Merkle Hash Tree). At first, it applies hash chain methods for data segments and encodes them to Data part. Then, it constitutes Meta part with the hash values generated at the previous step and properly applies both hash chain method and MHT-based signing for not only achieving efficiency, but also mitigating the drawback(data-loss, out-of-order transmission) of hash chain method. We have implemented our method in the CCNx library and measured the performance. When transmitting 100Mbyte of content, the proposed method generates only 2.596% of processing overhead and 1.803% of transmission overhead.

  • Object recognition is carried out using RGB images in various object recognition studies. However, RGB images in dark illumination environments or environments where target objects are occluded other objects cause poor object recognition performance. On the other hand, IR images provide strong object recognition performance in these environments because it detects infrared waves rather than visible illumination. In this paper, we propose an RGB-IR fusion model, high-frequency interchange network (HINet), which improves object recognition performance by combining only the strengths of RGB-IR image pairs. HINet connected two object detection models using a mutual high-frequency transfer (MHT) to interchange advantages between RGB-IR images. MHT converts each pair of RGB-IR images into a discrete cosine transform (DCT) spectrum domain to extract high-frequency information. The extracted high-frequency information is transmitted to each other's networks and utilized to improve object recognition performance. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed network and present performance improvement of the multispectral object recognition task.

  • As the population ages, the life of women after menopause becomes much longer than the past, and the quality of life of old age becomes increasingly principal issue. There is a period that women experience the physical symptoms of menopause, although there are differences in degree, and the management of this period is a suitable time for women to improve their quality of life. According to the menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) and Timing Hypothesis, which has been proven in the Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS) and the Early vs Late Intervention Trial with Estradiol (ELITE) study, a relatively young woman before and after menopause can benefit from long-term beneficial effects such as prevention of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease by early initiation of hormone therapy to alleviate menopausal symptoms. MHT should be considered for all women in healthy (without other important diseases) menopausal years, expecting to improve their quality of life through symptom relief in menopausal women and, in the long term, to prevent cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. When applying hormone therapy to individuals, it is necessary to establish various treatment strategies according to the menopausal symptoms of individual patients (individualization of treatment) and judge the suitability of clinical application.

  • Microstructural evolution of wrought Inconel 718 superalloy with different heat treatment conditions was studied. Heat treatment was performed via conventional(CHT), modified(MHT), Merrick(MeHT) and modified Merrick (MMeHT) methods. The size of ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}^{\prime\prime}$ precipitates which are principal strengthening phases in Inconel 718 superalloy increase in order of CHT, MHT, MeHT. For the case of MMeHT, a coexistence of fine ${\gamma}^{\prime\prime}$ precipitate and very coarse particles due to exess growth of ${\gamma}^{\prime\prime}$, which is called bimodal distribution, was observed. CHT gave the finest grain size. (Ti, Nb)C carbide and needle-like ${\delta}$ phase were formed together at grain boundaries for CHT, and were formed both inside and at boundaries of grains for MHT, MeHT and MMeHT. Morphology of partially serrated grain boundaries was developed in all heat treatment conditions except CHT.

  • This paper presents a map matching method using multiple hypothesis technique(MHT) to identify the road that a land vehicle is located on. To realize a map matching method using MHT, Pseudo-measurements are generated utilizing adjacent roads of GPS/DR position and the MHT is reformulated as a single target problem. Since pseudo-measurements are generated using digital map, topological properties such as road connection, direction, and road facility information are considered in calculating probabilities of hypotheses. In order to improve the map matching performance under when bias errors exist in digital road map data, a Kalman filter is employed to estimate the biases. Field experimental results show that the proposed map matching method provides the consistent performance even in complex downtown areas, overpass/underpass areas, and in the areas where roads are adjacent in parallel.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors influencing quality of life in post-menopausal women. Methods: The participants were 194 post-menopausal women who visited a women's clinic in Changwon, Korea from July 1 to August 31, 2018, and completed questionnaires containing items on menopausal symptoms, marital intimacy, current menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), and quality of life. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using SPSS for Windows version 23.0. Results: Quality of life had a significant negative correlation with menopausal symptoms (r=-.40, p<.001), and a significant positive correlation with marital intimacy (r=.54, p<.001). The factors influencing the quality of life of post-menopausal women were current MHT (t=6.32, p<.001), marital intimacy (t=4.94, p<.001), monthly family income (t=4.78, p<.001), menopausal symptoms (t=-4.37, p<.001), and education level (t=3.66, p<.001). These variables had an explanatory power of 59.2% for quality of life in post-menopausal women. Conclusion: In order to improve the quality of life of post-menopausal women, nursing interventions are needed to help menopausal women choose appropriate MHT, alleviate menopausal symptoms, and increase marital intimacy. Interventions should also be prioritized for women of a low educational level and with a low income in consideration of their health problems.

  • Mast cells are activated by specific allergens and also by various nonspecific stimuli, which might induce physical urticaria. This study investigated the functional expression of temperature sensitive transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV) subfamily in the human mast cell line (HMC-1) using whole-cell patch clamp techniques. The temperature of perfusate was raised from room temperature (RT, $23{\sim}25^{\circ}C$) to a moderately high temperature (MHT, $37{\sim}39^{\circ}C$) to activate TRPV3/4, a high temperature (HT, $44{\sim}46^{\circ}C$) to activate TRPV1, or a very high temperature (VHT, $53{\sim}55^{\circ}C$) to activate TRPV2. The membrane conductance of HMC-1 was increased by MHT and HT in about 50% (21 of 40) of the tested cells, and the I/V curves showed weak outward rectification. VHT-induced current was 10-fold larger than those induced by MHT and HT. The application of the TRPV 4 activator $3{\alpha}$-phorbol 12,13-didecanoate ($4{\alpha}$ PDD, $1\;{\mu}M$) induced weakly outward rectifying currents similar to those induced by MHT. However, the TRPV3 agonist camphor or TRPV1 agonist capsaicin had no effect. RT-PCR analysis of HMC-1 demonstrated the expression of TRPV4 as well as potent expression of TRPV2. The $[Ca^{2+}]_c$ of HMC-1 cells was also increased by MHT or by $4{\alpha}$ PDD. In summary, our present study indicates that HMC-1 cells express $Ca^{2+}$-permeable TRPV4 channels in addition to the previously reported expression of TRPV2 with a higher threshold of activating temperature.
