Promoting Mental Health Literacy at Schools in South Korea

  • The onset of many lifelong mental illnesses is during childhood and adolescence. There has been an increase in these conditions among children and adolescents especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is essential to promote mental health literacy (MHL) as a preventive and universal intervention for children and adolescents. Positive mental health status in adolescence is related to an increased level of MHL, and various MHL programs at schools have been reported to be effective for adolescent students worldwide. Recently, MHL programs have been developed in South Korea to be used by schoolteachers. There is a need for active dissemination and development of future programs. For continuous and effective education, it is desirable to include MHL education in regular school curricula.

  • 본 논문은 고출력 MHL(Metal Halide Lamp) 전자식 안정기에 적합한 새로운 형태의 수동 PFC 회로를 제안하였다. 제안한 수동 PFC 회로는 저단가로 구현할 수 있으며 수동 소자의 사용으로 인해 신뢰성을 향상시켰다. 또한 기존의 수동 PFC 회로보다 입력 전류의 THD 및 역률을 개선하였다. 제안된 수동 PFC 회로에 사용된 소자값의 결정 방법을 수식적으로 제시하였으며 P-spice를 이용한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 및 1000W MHL 전자식 안정기에 실제 적용한 실험을 통하여 제안된 수동 PFC의 성능을 증명하였다.

Design and Fabrication of an Energy Saving LED-Fishing Lamp (에너지 절감형 LED 집어등의 설계 및 제작)

  • This paper dealt with the design and fabrication of an energy saving light emitting diode (LED) fishing lamp. Most fishes such as a squid, horse mackerel, mackerel, sardine and scabbard fish have characteristics for phototaxis and fishing lamps have promoted the fishery efficiency using their photo-reaction. In these days, metal halide lamp (MHL) as the fishing lamp, which consumes 1.5 kW and radiates harmful ultraviolet rays are mainly used. To develop the LED-fishing lamp, the penetration depth in sea water and the photo-reaction of a squid as light wavelength were studied. The experimental results showed the both characteristics were existed in blue color around 470 nm. Based on the results, we manufactured a 160 W and blue LED-fishing lamp which is consume about one-nine of 1.5 kW MHL. As energy saving effect, the use of LED-fishing lamp can reduce 128 kWh per an hour which is correspond to $CO_2$ of 86 kg for a 22ton-fishing boat equipped with 80-1.5 kW MHL. Now, the prototype LED fishing lampsare being evaluated on two fishing boats.

  • 본 논문은 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 1.5kW MHL(Metal Halide Lamp) 전자식 안정기 설계 및 해석하였다. 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 1.5kW MHL용 안정기는 여러 개의 자기식 안정기로 구동하여 국가적으로 많은 에너지 손실을 발생되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 1.5kW MHL용 전자식 안정기를 설계하였으며, 이론 및 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안한 전자식 안정기의 성능을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 메탈핼라이드 램프(MHL)의 원격 조도제어 및 감시 시스템을 구성하기 위하여 2.4GHz Zigbee 무선모듈로 구성된 무선모뎀을 구현하였다. MHL은 주로 가로등이나 보안등의 용도로 쓰이며, 대부분 설치되어 있는 시스템은 Group 제어 기반의 단방향 제어방식이다. 이러한 방식들은 각 등에 대한 개별적인 제어 및 감시가 이루어지지 못한다는 단점이 있으며, 이를 극복하기 위해서는 양방향 통신을 할 수 있는 통신 시스템이 필요하다. MHL은 다른 방전등들과 비교하여 비교적 방전시간이 긴 특징이 있으며, 이러한 특징은 조도제어 시스템 구성 시 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 시스템 구성을 위하여 IEEE 802.15.4 기반의 ZigBee 모듈을 이용하고, 조도제어를 위하여 Half-Bridge 방식의 전자식 안정기를 설계하여, 이를 제어하기 위한 제어회로를 구성하였으며, 램프의 특성에 맞는 프로토콜을 제안하였다.

The Electronic Ballast Design of Acoustic Resonance Free and Transient Over Current Limit for High Power MHL (음향 공명 제거 및 과도 상태 전류를 제한시킨 고출력 메탈 헬라이드 램프용 전자식 안정기 설계)

  • This paper presents the design of acoustic resonance free and over current limit during transient state consideration electronic ballast for 1.5kW Metal-Halide Lamp(MHL) that employs frequency modulation (FM) technique. The proposed ballast consists of a Full-Bridge(FB) rectifier, a passive power factor correction (PFC) circuit, a full-bridge inverter, an ignitor using LC resonance and a control circuit for frequency modulation. The frequency modulation technique is the most effective solution to eliminate acoustic resonance among other technique. It spreads power spectrum of lamp to reduce the supplied power spectrum under the energy level of eigen-value frequency. Moreover, the proposed ballast is simple and cost effective above conventional ballast. A new PFC circuit is proposed which combines with LCD type and PCSR filter. A new PFC circuit has higher PF and lower THD than conventional LCD type and secure high reliability. Finally, to protected switching components in transient state, the surge current into ballast is limited by increase the switching frequency. Performance of the proposed ballast was validated through computer simulation using Pspice, experimentation and by applying it to an electronic ballast for a prototype 1.5kW MHL.

  • Recently, Smart Phone is widely used and replaces with the work of computer system. So, to overcome the inconveniences of Smart-Phone small screen size, a mirroring the screen of Smart Phone to TV or Computer monitor is studied to show a larger screen to the users. In this study, we implemented a screen mirroring and efficient user interface(computer mouse and keyboard) system with Bluetooth and USB host functions for a smart phone using standard 5 pin(MHL compatible) connector output to HDMI Monitor. Dock-style and Monitor embedded system are designed respectively.

Mental Health Literacy and Vulnerable Group Analysis of Korea (한국인의 정신건강이해력 평가와 취약집단분석)

  • A study aims to assess Korean mental health literacy and analyze the characteristics of vulnerable population. This study presented typical vignettes of schizophrenia, depression and alcoholism to 1,197 adults randomly. All respondents were asked for recognition of mental illness, beliefs about causes, professional help and self-help, stigma for receiving psychiatric treatment for the person described. The results showed that the recognition of mental health problem in a vignette was very poor and that personal causes were seen by public as more important than environmental and bio-genetic causes. When the public were asked about various professional therapies and self-help activities, psychotherapy was favored while other professional help were considered to be less helpful than self-help activities. Among professionals, psychiatrist were viewed as most helpful. We used cluster analysis to compare high mental health literacy group with low mental health literacy group(vulnerable population). Vulnerable population were found to be more aged and to live in county area. We proposed government initiated program for enhancing public mental health literacy.

Electronic Ballast Design for Ceramic MHL by using Its Conductance Model (세라믹 MHL의 컨덕턴스 모델을 이용한 전자식 안정기 설계)

  • This paper presents the conductance model at high frequency of the Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp and the designing method of the electronic ballast with the LCC resonant tank type by using that model. Conductance model is based on a physical phenomenon in the discharge tube of the lamp and model constants of conductance model are obtained by Least Squares Method. After equivalent impedances are determined by the conductance model, The LCC resonance tank is designed by using the equation of the lamp power. Simulation result using PSpice software and experimental results show that the conductance model in this paper is very useful to design the electronic ballast at high frequency for the Ceramic Metal Halide Lamps.

  • A combination of MHL and LED fish-luring light is used in this study. Its yield, characteristics, and irradiance distribution are evaluated and analyzed. To obtain an irradiance distribution similar to that of an MHL, we suggest the optimal arrangement of MHL and LED.
