The global performance of a 15 MW floating offshore wind turbine, a newly designed semisubmersible floating foundation with multiple heave plates by CNOOC, is investigated with two independent turbine-floater-mooring coupled dynamic analysis programs CHARM3D-FAST and OrcaFlex. The semisubmersible platform hosts IEA 15 MW reference wind turbine modulated for VolturnUS-S and hybrid type (chain-wire-chain with clumps) 3×2 mooring lines targeting the water depth of 100 m. The numerical free-decay simulation results are compared with physical experiments with 1:64 scaled model in 3D wave basin, from which appropriate drag coefficients for heave plates were estimated. The tuned numerical simulation tools were then used for the feasibility and global performance analysis of the FOWT considering the 50-yr-storm condition and maximum operational condition. The effect of tower flexibility was investigated by comparing tower-base fore-aft bending moment and nacelle translational accelerations. It is found that the tower-base bending moment and nacelle accelerations can be appreciably increased due to the tower flexibility.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the function and the safety of an additional weight shoe developed for the improvement of aerobic capacity, and to improve some problems found by subject's test for an additional weight shoe. The subjects employed for this study were 10 college students. 4 video cameras, AMTI force platform and Pedar insole pressure distribution measurement device were used to analyze foot motions. The results of the study were as follows: 1 The initial achilles tendon angle and initial rearfoot pronation angle of an additional weight shoe during walking were 183.7 deg and 2.33 deg, respectively, and smaller than a barefoot condition. Maximum achilles tendon angle and the angular displacement of achilles tendon angle were 185.35 deg and 4.21 deg respectively, and smaller than barefoot condition. Thus rearfoot stability variables were within the permission value for safety. 2. Maximal anterior posterior ground reaction force of additional weight shoe was appeared to be 1.01-1.2 B.W., and was bigger than a barefoot condition. The time to MAPGRF of an additional weight shoe was longer than a barefoot condition. Maximal vertical ground reaction force of additional weight shoe was appeared to be 2.3-2.7 B.W., and was bigger than a barefoot condition in propulsive force region. But A barefoot condition was bigger in braking force region. The time to MVGRF of an additional weight shoe was longer than a barefoot condition. 3. Regional peak pressure was bigger in medial region than in lateral region in contrast to conventional running shoes. The instant of regional peak pressure was M1-M2-M7-M4-M6-M5 -M3, and differed form conventional running shoes. Regional Impulse was shown to be abnormal patterns. There were no evidences that an additional weight shoe would have function and safety problems through the analysis of rearfoot control and ground reaction force during walking. However, There appeared to have small problem in pressure distribution. It was considered that it would be possible to redesign the inner geometry. This study could not find out safety on human body and exercise effects because of short term research period. Therefore long term study on subject's test would be necessary in the future study.
The purpose of this research was to analyze the kinematics of the 205B movement in platform diving. For the experiment, 2 athlete from the national diving team were chosen as the subject and two S -VHS video cameras were used. For this diving players preparing for the olympics participated. It was shown that the mean total took $1.112{\pm}0.12s$. In order to perform better, the divers time must be increased, at take off and rotation must be done high up and the horizontal distance must be shorted to main entrance of the water. To enter the water safely, the jump has to be high, the horizontal speed slow and the vertical speed as fast as possible. At E1 the lower limbs change in speed should decrease and after the rotation begins at E2. At take off, the jump is more important than the rotation for the performance of the dive. At take off, the trunk angular velocity was high, and this was needed to jump high for moment of inertia for rotation because for efficient jumping the upper body has to spread out and increase the height of the center of mass.
Maritime and Ocean Engineering Research Institute (MOERI), a branch of KORDI, has designed and manufactured a model of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) named ISiMI (Integrated Submergible for Intelligent Mission Implementation). ISiMI is an AUV platform to satisfy the various needs of experimental test required for development of challenging technologies newly investigated in the field of underwater robot; control and navigational algorithms and software architectures. The main design goal of ISiMI AUV is downsizing which will reduce substantially the operating cost compared to other vehicles previously developed in KORDI such as VORAM or DUSAUV. As a result of design and manufacturing process, ISiMI is implemented to be 1.2 m in length, 0.17 m in diameter and weigh 20 kg in air. A series of tank test is conducted to verify the basic functions of ISiMI in the Ocean Engineering Basin of MOERI, which includes manual control with R/F link, auto depth, auto heading control and a final approach control for underwater docking. This paper describes the implementation of ISiMI system and the experimental results to verify the function of ISiMI as a test-bed AUV platform.

One of the main causes of a limited use of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies in bridge deck assessment is the speed of data collection and analysis. The paper describes development and implementation of the RABIT (Robotics Assisted Bridge Inspection Tool) for data collection using multiple NDE technologies. The system is designed to characterize three most common deterioration types in concrete bridge decks: rebar corrosion, delamination, and concrete degradation. It implements four NDE technologies: electrical resistivity (ER), impact echo (IE), ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and ultrasonic surface waves (USW) method. The technologies are used in a complementary way to enhance the interpretation. In addition, the system utilizes advanced vision to complement traditional visual inspection. Finally, the RABIT collects data at a significantly higher speed than it is done using traditional NDE equipment. The robotic system is complemented by an advanced data interpretation. The associated platform for the enhanced interpretation of condition assessment in concrete bridge decks utilizes data integration, fusion, and deterioration and defect visualization. This paper concentrates on the validation and field implementation of two NDE technologies. The first one is IE used in the delamination detection and characterization, while the second one is the USW method used in the assessment of concrete quality. The validation of performance of the two methods was conducted on a 9 m long and 3.6 m wide fabricated bridge structure with numerous artificial defects embedded in the deck.

In this paper, we propose a smart HLS(HTTP Live Stream) platform with dynamic single buffering for the best transmission of adaptive video bit-rates. This smart HLS can optimizes the channel transition zapping-time with the monitoring of bandwidth between HLS server and OTT(Over The Top) client. This platform is designed through the control of video stream due to proper multi-bitrates and bandwidths. This proposed OTT can decode the live and VOD(Video On Demand) videos with the buffering of optimumal bitrate. And, the HLS can be cooperated with a smart OTT, and segmented for the m3u8 files of H.265 MPEG-2 TS(Transport Stream) videos. As a resullt, this single buffer based smart OTT can transmit optimal videos with the maximum data buffering according to the adaptive bit-rate depending on the network bandwidth efficiency and the decoded VOD video, too.
The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 led to inconsistent public health policies that resulted in COVID-19 containment failure. These factors resulted in increased hospitalization and death. To prevent viral spread and achieve herd immunity, the only safe and effective measure is to provide to vaccinates. Ever since the release of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleotide sequence in January of 2020, research centers and pharmaceutical companies from many countries have developed different types of vaccines including mRNA, recombinant protein, and viral vector vaccines. Prior to initiating vaccinations, phase 3 clinical trials are necessary. However, no vaccine has yet to complete a phase 3 clinical trial. Many products obtained "emergency use authorization" from governmental agencies such as WHO, FDA etc. The Korean government authorized the use of five different vaccines. The viral vector vaccine of Oxford/AstraZeneca and the Janssen showed effectiveness of 76% and 66.9%, respectively. The mRNA vaccine of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna showed effectiveness of 95% and 94.1%, respectively. The protein recombinant vaccine of Novavax showed an effectiveness of 90.4%. In this review, we compared the characteristics, production platform, synthesis principles, authorization, protective effects, immune responses, clinical trials and adverse effects of five different vaccines currently used in Korea. Through this review, we conceptualize the importance of selecting the optimal vaccine to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.
We report a highly sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) platform for the selective trace analysis of mercury (II) ions in drinkable water using aptamer-conjugated silver nanoparticles. Here, an aptamer designed to specifically bind to $Hg^{2+}$ ions in aqueous solution was labelled with a TAMRA moiety at the 5' end and used as a Raman reporter. Polyamine spermine tetrahydrochloride (spermine) was used to promote surface adsorption of the aptamer probes onto the silver nanoparticles. When $Hg^{2+}$ ions are added to the system, binding of $Hg^{2+}$ with T-T pairs results in a conformational rearrangement of the aptamer to form a hairpin structure. As a result of the reduced of electrostatic repulsion between silver nanoparticles, aggregation of silver nanoparticles occurs, and the SERS signal is significantly increased upon the addition of $Hg^{2+}$ ions. Under optimized assay conditions, the concentration limit of detection was estimated to be 5 nM, and this satisfies a limit of detection below the EPA defined limit of 10 nM in drinkable water.
This paper describes a 1.2 V 12 b 60 MS/s CMOS analog front-end (AFE) employing low-power and flexible design techniques for image signal processing. An op-amp preset technique and programmable capacitor array scheme are used in a variable gain amplifier to reduce the power consumption with a small area of the AFE. A pipelined analog-to-digital converter with variable resolution and a clock detector provide operation flexibility with regard to resolution and speed. The AFE is fabricated in a 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process and shows a gain error of 0.68 LSB with 0.0352 dB gain steps and a differential/integral nonlinearity of 0.64/1.58 LSB. The signal-to-noise ratio of the AFE is 59.7 dB at a 60 MHz sampling frequency. The AFE occupies 1.73 $mm^2$ and dissipates 64 mW from a 1.2 V supply. Also, the performance of the proposed AFE is demonstrated by an implementation of an image signal processing platform for digital camcorders.

Reservoirs play a key role in the carbon cycle between terrestrial and marine systems and are pathways that release greenhouse gases(GHGs), CO2, CH4, and N2O, into the atmosphere by decomposing organic matters. Developed countries have been actively conducting research on carbon emission assessment of dam reservoirs for over 10 years under the leadership of UNESCO/IHA, but associated research is very rare in Korea. In particular, the GHGs footprint evaluation, which calculates the change in net carbon emission considering the watershed environment between pre- and post- impoundment, is very important in evaluating the carbon emission of hydroelectric dams. The objective of this study was to estimate the GHG emissions and footprints in Daecheong Reservoir using the G-res Tool, an online platform developed by UNESCO/IHA. The G-res Tool estimates CO2 and CH4 emissions in consideration of diverse pathway fluxes of GHGs from the reservoir and characterizes changes in GHG fluxes over 100 years based on the expected lifetime of the dam. The input required to use the G-res Tool include data related to watersheds, reservoirs, and dams, and most were collected through the government's public portal. As a result of the study, the GHG footprint of Daecheong Reservoir was estimated to be 93 gCO2eq/m2/yr, which is similar to that of other reservoirs around the world in the same climate zone. After impoundment, the CH4 diffusion emission from the reservoir was 73 gCO2eq/m2/yr, also similar to those of the overseas reservoirs, but the CH4 bubbling emission, degassing emission, and CO2 diffusion emissions were 44, 34, 252 gCO2eq/m2/yr, respectively, showing a rather high tendency. Since the dam reservoir carbon footprint evaluation is essential for the Clean Development Mechanism evaluation of hydroelectric power generation, continuous research is needed in the future. In particular, experimental studies that can replace the emission factors obtained from the overseas dam reservoirs currently used in the G-res Tool should be promoted.
