In this study, the VCB(Vacuum Circuit Breaker) has been developed using the Recurdyn that is widely used on multibody dynamics analysis. The VCB consists of three main circuits with the VI(Vacuum Interrupter) and the main frame with the operating mechanism. This analytic model is validated by comparing the simulation results and the experimental results. Generally, in order to reliably cut off the breaking current, the opening speed of the VCB after contact separation has to be a 0.9~1.1m/s. Therefore, the study of the design parameters of the VCB is needed. To improve the opening velocity, Taguchi design method is applied to optimize the design parameters of a VCB with a lot of linkages. In addition, to evaluate the improvement of the operating characteristics, the simulation results are compared with the Recurdyn and experimental results with improved prototype sample.
Organic electroluminescent (EL) device was fabricated with Alq$_3$ as an emitting material and PDPMA ultra thin film prepared by Langmuir-Boldgett technique as a polymer hole transport layer. A stable condensed PDPMA monolayer was obtained using arachidic acid as a surface active material. The thickness and absorbance of PDPMA LB film increased line-arly with the layer numbers. The organic multilayered device consisted of ITO/PDPMA LB film (19 layers)/Alq$_3$/Al emitted green light with brightness of 2500 cd/m$^2$ at a DC 14 V Especially, the drive voltage of EL device having PDPMA LB film of 15 layers exhibited the value as low as 4 V. The effects of thickness control and molecular orientation in the PDPMA LB film on EL performance were discussed.

In this study, Among the electromagnetic induction power generation (EMG) techniques, the design specifications of the RFPM were set, and a suitable test prototype was manufactured through finite element analysis (FEM, 2D) required for characteristic calculation. In addition, a dedicated testing device (Dynamo-Tester) was designed and manufactured to measure and analyze the test prototype. The test product was measured with a test device and the result is analyzed to suggest a method that can be applied by generating as much output power as possible to charge the battery of the wearable IT device using actual kinetic energy of the human body. As a result of the test, the output power was 1.679W and the efficiency was 79.31% under the conditions of rotation speed of 780.9rpm, torque of 0.264kgf/cm, and load current of 73.6~73.9mA. Therefore, it was analyzed that it was possible to charge the wearable device with the output of the ultra-small RFPM pendulum generator.

A public restroom is different from a household toilet in terms of location and a large number of sharing users. In addition, public restroom is usually messy and filthy. Recently, public toilet tends to be clearly managed than before, but it still has hygienic and clear problems. In this paper, we propose a machine-to-machine (M2M)-based public restroom management system to solve these problems, in which the system with a wireless communication device sends the status information of the toilet, such as blockage or trouble detected by a sensor, to the manager of the restroom at a remote location. In particular, we have developed a prototype management system for public restroom taking into account several system requirements, and verified the basic operations and performance of the management system. With the application of the system to public facilities, it will furnish users with more pleasant environments by restroom administrators who can respond effectively to the troubled toilet.
We report here our recent progress in the development and commercialization of polyfluorenes emitting red, green and blue (ROB) colors as materials for light emitting diodes (LEDs). Our patented version of the Suzuki coupling process has been used to synthesize a variety of fluorenebased homopolymers and copolymers emitting colors across the entire visible spectrum. The optical and electronic properties of the polymers are tailored through selective incorporation of different aromatic units into the polyfluorene backbone. Our latest green emitter, reported herein, provides very efficient devices with a low turn-on voltage of 2.25 V, a peak efficiency of 10.5 Cd/A at 6,600 Cd/$m^2$ at 4.85 V. These devices maintain an efficiency of greater than 10 Cd/A up to 50,000 Cd/$m^2$ and demonstrate very good stability as exemplified by a device half-life of greater than 1,500 hours starting from 1,100 Cd/$m^2$. Considerable progress has also been made with red and blue emitters and will be the subject of this presentation.

In this paper, we studied the effect of noise caused by ambient light on a reflective PPG measurement device using infrared light. Noise caused by ambient light was examined by dividing it into general situations and special situations. In the general situation, noise due to changes in time and ambient light sources was randomly observed, and in the special situation, a halogen lamp was used to observe the effect of noise variations. In the experiment, PPG signals were measured and data acquired in real-time depending on each situation, and the measured data was analyzed in the time domain and frequency domain. First, through a general situation experiments, it was visually observed that noise increases with the brightness of ambient light, and through frequency analysis, it was observed that the noise sources were white noise, power line noise, and internal noise of the circuit. Futhermore, using a halogen lamp, we experimented with the change in noise depending on the change in distance from the ambient light and calculated the SNR. As a result of the experiment, an SNR of 3.2 dB was shown at a distance of 50 cm with an irradiance of 278.3 W/m2. It was observed that normal measurement was difficult at SNRs below that, and an irradiance of 27.7 W/m2 was obtained. It showed a value of 18.2 dB at a distance of 2 m, and it was observed that normal PPG measurement was possible through a filter at values above that.
This study was conducted to estimate the removal efficiency of algae by a mechanical Screw Brush Cone Filter in a lake. The device used a stainless steel cone-shaped filter with a screw brush. The ability of the developed device to remove algae larger than $20{\mu}m$ in Lake ChaSa, Gwangyang city was tested from August to September 2014. The results show that the removal rates for chlorophyll-a, suspended solids and volatile suspended solids were 44-87%(mean 61%), 35-54%(mean 40%), and 37-46%(mean 43%), respectively. This study also discusses equipment and device operation costs and device application problems, and suggests in situ. solutions to these problems.
This paper describes two methods - stamp-to-stick bonding and microtransfer molding - to integrate microfluidic channel into an optoelectrofluidic device for in-channel microparticle manipulation. We have demonstrated the optoelectronic microparticle manipulation in the channel-integrated optoelectrofluidic device using a liquid crystal display. As injecting a liquid sample containing $15{\mu}m$-diameter polystyrene particles into the fabricated channel, trapping and transport of individual microparticles have been successfully demonstrated. This channel-integrated optoelectrofluidic device may be useful for several in-channel applications based on the optoelectrofluidics such as optoelectronic flow control, droplet-based protein assay and bead-based immunoassay.
An interactive web-based teaching tool for a power semiconductor course at the University of Central Florida is presented in this paper. A novel approach is introduced using Technology Aided Design Tools (TCAD) to generate time-lapsed 2D semiconductor device cross-section embedded in a webpage using $Adobe^{(R)}$ Flash (web design tool) platform to create interactive movies that demonstrate complex device physical phenomenon. Students can step through the interactive movies forward, backward, pausing, or looping. Each step represents a giving bias condition. Current-voltage plots are represented along with the semiconductor device and a visual point is placed on the IV curve to indicate the current bias conditions. The changes are then reflected in the 2D cross-section movie area and the IV plot. This tool was implemented in a classroom setting to augment the lectures or for discovery learning.
In this paper an auto-switching energy harvesting circuit using vibration and thermoelectric energy is proposed. Since the maximum power point of a thermoelectric generator(TEG) output and a vibration device(PEG) output is 1/2 of their open-circuit voltage, an identical MPPT controller can be used for both energy sources. The proposed circuit monitors the outputs of the TEG and PEG, and chooses the energy source generating a higher output voltage using an auto-switching controller, and then harvests the maximum power from the selected device using the MPPT controller. The proposed circuit is designed in a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process and its functionality has been verified through extensive simulations. The designed chip occupies $1.4mm{\times}1.2mm$ including pads.
