We constructed the null mutants of fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe rsml gene that is thought to be involved in mRNA export. Though rsm1 gene is not essential for growth, the null mutant strain constructed by replacing the rsm1-coding region with an $kan^{r}$ gene showed growth retardation and mRNA export defects compared to wild type strain. We constructed double mutants which harbor rsm1 null allele and mutant allele of genes involved in mRNA export. The mex67 or npp106 null allele, when combined with rsm1 null allele, showed an additive effect on growth retardation and mRNA export defects. On the other hand, the thp1 null allele restored the defects of growth and mRNA export of rsm1 null mutant. These results suggest that rsm1 plays a role in mRNA export from the nucleus.
This study was conducted to establish an effective radiation treatment and selection method for induced mutants in M_1 population of soybean treated with gamma-ray. About 64% of total M_1 plants was reduced in plant height up to 50 - 60% and among which 60 - 70% of the plants were contained mutations in M_2 generation. About 60% of the MI plants have born 6 - 15 seeds per plant and 50 - 60% of their progenies produced mutants in M_2 generation. Positive correlation between plant height and number of seeds per plant in M_1 population was found. Higher visible macro-mutation rate in M_2 was observed in the groups of reduced plant height and seed number in the M_1 generation, whereas the frequency of chlorophyll mutation was increased in the group of less damaged plants. The size of mutation sector was increased with reduction in number of seeds per M_1 plant and the mutants were occurred at random in all the parts of M_1 plants. For the effective selection of mutants in soybean mutation breeding, the M_1 seeds should be harvested from the radiation damaged M_1 plants with the application of higher doses of mutagens, and handling M_2 generation by bulk population method is recommendable.
By using O(m+n, 1)/$O(m){\times}O(n,1)-system$, we give an analytic version of Ribaucour transformation for flat m-dimensional submanifolds in $\mathbb{H}^{m+n}$ with flat, non-degenerate normal bundle and free of weak umbilics, where $n{\geq}m-1$.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic variables of ankle joints and EMG signal of the lower limbs muscle activity for the different walking speed. The subjects were 6 males of twenties. It was classified into three different walking speed-0.75m/s, 1.25m/s, 1.75m/s. The walking performances were filmed by high speed video camera and EMG signal was gained by ME3000P8 Measurement Unit. Tibialis anterior(TA), Gastrocnemius medial head(GM), Gastrocnemius lateral head(GL), Ssoleus(SO) were selected for the dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the ankle joint. The result of this study were as follows: 1. In the gait cycle, The time parameters for the phases were showed significant difference without the terminal stance phase and terminal swing phase for the different walking speed. 2. The angle of ankle joint was no significant difference for each time point and MDF, MPF but increasing walking speed the angle had the increasing pattern slightly. 3. The angular velocity of ankle joint was showed the significant difference for LHC, RTO, RKC, LHU, MPF and MDF point along the walking speed. 4. TA was showed about 2-3 times muscle activity at the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s in some phases. And it was showed the similar muscle activity between the 0.75m/s and 1.25m/s but, showed a little much muscle activity in the 0.75m/s. GM was showed about 2-3 times muscle activity in the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s, and even much muscle activity at the 0.75m/s than 1.25m/s in some phases. GL was showed increasing pattern of muscle activity specially in the initial swing phase as the walking speed increased. SO was showed about 3 times muscle activity in the 1.75m/s than 1.25m/s during the plantarflexion of ankle joint. It was showed the similar muscle activity between the 0.75m/s and 1.25m/s but, showed a little much muscle activity in the 1.25m/s.
This study was designed to investigate the protective effect of the combination of fucoidan and lutein against AAPH-induced oxidative stress in THP-1 cells. The combination of fucoidan and lutein existed significant antioxidant effect on AAPH-damaged THP-1 cells by using lipid peroxidation and cellular antioxidant capacity assay. Fucoidan($1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and lutein($10\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) did not affect at all the viability of THP-1 cells, but protected the AAPH-damage of THP-1 cells at the same concentration. The viability of THP-1 cells was 0% with 1 mM AAPH alone, the protective effect of fucoidan($1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and lutein($10\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) was 37% and 36%, respectively. The combination of fucoidan($1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and lutein($10\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) exhibited significant inhibitory effect of lipid peroxidation using TBARS assay and cellular antioxidant capacity using DCFH-DA assay. In lipid peroxidation, the TBARS value of 1 mM AAPH alone was $0.8{\pm}0.03\;nM$ MDA, its of the combination of fucoidan($1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and lutein($10\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) was $0.2{\pm}0.05\;nM$ MDA. In cellular antioxidant capacity, the combination of fucoidan($1\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) and lutein($10\;{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) exhibited significant cellular antioxidant capacity of 76%, whereas quercetin($10\;{\mu}M$) as positive control exhibited the cellular antioxidant capacity of 32%. These results indicate that the cotreatment of fucoidan and lutein protects against AAPH-induced THP-1 cell damage by inhibiting lipid peroxidation, increasing cellular antioxidant capacity.

The purpose of this study was to estimate the distribution of absorbed doses of each important organs of head and neck region in panoramic radiography. Radiation dosimetry at internal anatomic sites and skin surfaces of phantom (RT-210 Humanoid Head & Neck Section/sup R/) was performed with lithium fluoride (TLD-100/sup R/) thermoluminescent dosimeters according to change of kilovoltage (65kVp, 75kVp and 85kVp) with 4 miliamperage and 20 second exposure time. The results obtained were as follows; Radiation absorbed doses of internal anatomic sites were presented the highest doses of 1.04 mGy, 1.065 mGy and 2.09 mGy in nasopharynx, relatively high doses of 0.525 mGy, 0.59 mGy and 1.108 mGy in deep lobe of parotid gland, 0.481 mGy, 0.68 mGy and 1.191 mGy in submandibular gland. But there were comparatively low doses of 0.172 mGy and 0.128 mGy in eyes and thyroid gland that absorbed dose was estimated at 85kVp. Radiation absorbed doses of skin surfaces were presented the highest doses of 1. 263 mGy, 1.538 mGy and 2.952 mGy in back side of first cervical vertebra and relatively high doses of 0.267 mGy, 0.401 mGy and 0.481 mGy in parotid gland. But there were comparatively low doses of 0.057 mGy, 0.068 mGy and 0.081 mGy in philtrum and 0.059 mGy in middle portion of chin that absorbed dose was estimated at 85kVp. According to increase of kilovoltage, the radiation absorbed doses were increased 1.1 times when kilovolt age changes from 65kVp to 75kVp and 1.9 times when kilovolt age changes from 75kVp to 85kVp at internal anatomic sites. According to increase of kilovoltage, the radiation absorbed doses were increased 1.3 times when kilovolt age changes from 65kVp to 75kVp and 1.6 times when kilovoltage changes from 75kVp to 85kVp at skin surfaces.
Carbon monoxide was generated when the saccharides which contained aldehyde group were added to alkali solution (NaOH solution) at $25^{\circ}C$ or $40^{\circ}C$. When the milk was added to 1.0 M NaOH solution at $25^{\circ}C$ and to 0.01 M NaOH solution at $40^{\circ}C$, carbon monoxide was generated. The carbon monoxide gas which was generated by 20 mL of 0.1 M lactose or 0.1 M xylose and 2 mL of 1.0 M NaOH solution at $50^{\circ}C$ for 2days was bubbled through 2 mL of fresh blood. The carboxyhemoglobin concentrations of both conditions were 31%. However, when the carbon monoxide gas which was generated by 30 mL of milk and 2 mL of 1.0 M NaOH at $50^{\circ}C$ for 2days or 3days was bubbled through 2 mL of fresh blood, the carboxyhemoglobin concentration was 32% or 42% respectively.

The Yeongdeok 53m marine terrace (Y53mT), Y43mT, Y33mT, Y24mT, Y19mT and Y11mT distributed along the Yeongdeok coast, southeastern Korean Peninsula are well compared with the thalassostatic terraces of the high terrace 1 (ℓHT1 ; 51m of the relative heights from the river floor), high terrace 2 (ℓHT2 ; 43m), middle terrace 1 (ℓMT1 ; 32m), middle terrace 2 (ℓMT2 ; 25m), lower terrace 1 (ℓLT1 ; 18m) and lower terrace 2 (ℓLT2 ; 10m) respectively, developed along the lower reaches of the Chucksan-cheon and Obo-cheon rivers, judging from the comparison of paleosols (red soils) between the above marine and thalassostatic terraces. Using the Y19mT of the MIS 5e as the key surface, we propose that the terraces of the Y53mT and ℓHT1, Y43mT and ℓHT2, T33mT and ℓMT1, Y24mT and ℓMT2, Y19mT and ℓLT1, and Y11mT and ℓLT2 have been formed at the MIS 11, 9, 7e and 7a (or 7a), 5e and 5a respectively. The red soils have been developed at the Y19mT and ℓLT1 and above them, but not on the Y11mT and ℓLT2 surfaces.
In this paper, we prove some rigidity results about embedded minimal hypersurface M ⊂ ℝn+1 with compact ∂M that has one end which is regular at infinity. We first show that if M ⊂ ℝn+1 meets a hyperplane in a constant angle ≥ /2, then M is part of an n-dimensional catenoid. We show that if M meets a sphere in a constant angle and ∂M lies in a hemisphere determined by the hyperplane through the center of the sphere and perpendicular to the limit normal vector nM of the end, then M is part of either a hyperplane or an n-dimensional catenoid. We also show that if M is tangent to a C2 convex hypersurface S, which is symmetric about a hyperplane P and nM is parallel to P, then M is also symmetric about P. In special, if S is rotationally symmetric about the xn+1-axis and nM = en+1, then M is also rotationally symmetric about the xn+1-axis.

Ground control points(GCPs) can be extracted from SAR data given precise orbit for DTM generation using optic images and other SAR data. In this study, we extract GCPs from ERS SAR data and SRTM DEM. Although it is very difficult to identify GCPs in ERS SAR image, the geometry of optic image and other SAR data are able to be corrected and more precise DTM can be constructed from stereo optic images. Twenty GCPs were obtained from the ERS SAR data with precise Delft orbit information. After the correction was applied, the mean values of planimetric distance errors of the GCPs were 3.7m, 12.1 and -0.8m with standard deviations of 19.9m, 18.1, and 7.8m in geocentric X, Y, and Z coordinates, respectively. The geometries of SPOT stereo pair were corrected by 13 GCPs, and r.m.s. errors were 405m, 705m and 8.6m in northing, easting and height direction, respectively. And the geometries of RADARS AT stereo pair were corrected by 12 GCPs, and r.m.s. errors were 804m, 7.9m and 6.9m in northing, easting and height direction, respectively. DTMs, through a method of area based matching with pyramid images, were generated by SPOT stereo images and RADARS AT stereo images. Comparison between points of the obtained DTMs and points estimated from a national 1 :5,000 digital map was performed. For DTM by SPOT stereo images, the mean values of distance errors in northing, easting and height direction were respectively -7.6m, 9.6m and -3.1m with standard deviations of 9.1m, 12.0m and 9.1m. For DTM by RADARSAT stereo images, the mean values of distance errors in northing, easting and height direction were respectively -7.6m, 9.6m and -3.1m with standard deviations of 9.1m, 12.0m and 9.1m. These results met the accuracy of DTED level 2
