Effect of VA Mycorrhizal Fungi on Alleviation of Salt Injury in Hot Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) (VA 균근균(菌根菌) 접종(接種)에 의한 고추의 염류장해(鹽類障害) 경감효과(輕減效果))

  • Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi are known to increase plant growth as well as to enhance salt tolerance of plants where plant roots are colonized by VAM. In pot experiment, pepper was grown in soil containing 0, 200, 400, and $600P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ with and without mycorrhizal inoculum. Pots were irrigated with saline water containing 0.5, 2.0, and $6.0dS\;m^{-1}$. At 0, 200, and $400P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ of three EC treatments, plant hight in mycorrhizal treatments was significantly different compared to nonmycorrhizal treatments. However, plant hight at $600P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ was not different between mycorrhizal and nomycorrhizal treatments. Leaf area at $0P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ of three EC treatments, and $200P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ of $6.0dS\;m^{-1}$ in mycorrhizal treatments significantly increased compared to nonmycorrhizal treatments. However, these increase were not discovered in high salinity and P level. Level of EC affected dry weight, and especially, interection of P and EC, or P and VA inoculation highly affected root dry weight. R/S ratio generally decreased in mycorrhizal treatments. Significantly decreased R/S ratio was shown at 0, 400, and $600P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ of $6.0dS\;m^{-1}$. Chlorophyll content generally increased with decreased salinity and P level where mycorrhizal treatments showed higher chlorophyll content compared to nonmycorrhizal treatments. The benefits of VAM inoculation on fruit production was discovered at only low P level and salinity. Mycorrhizal dependency on dry weight basis was generally shown in $0P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ of three EC treatments and 0.5, $2.0dS\;m^{-1}$ of $200P\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ level. Colonization rate ranged 3.3 to 43.3% and number of spores was 47.7 to 198.3 $100g^{-1}$ soil. Colonization rate and number of spores increased with decreased P level and salinity where there was high correlation ($r=0.858^{**}$) between both. Also improved uptake of mineral nutrients was discovered at mycorrhizal treatments in decreased P level and salinity.

FACTORS INFLUENCING THE FORMATION OF INSOLUBLE GLUCAN BY STREPTOCOCCUS SOBRINUS (Streptococcus sobrinus의 비수용성 글루캔 합성에 영향을 미치는 인자)

  • There are various kinds of factors associated with the formation of dental plaque in oral cavity such as nutrient molecules and chemical agents. The factors influencing the formation of insoluble glucan by Streptococcus sobrinus and its replication were examined on orthodontic wires. The results were as follows: 1. Insoluble glucan was well produced in the media initially adjusted at pH 7.0 than pH 5.5 or pH 8.5 like bacterial replication. 2. The synthesis of insoluble glucan and bacterial replication were significantly increased in the media containing 2.5% yeast extract. The formation of insoluble glucan was inhibited by 10 folds in the media containing 20% of sucrose than 1.25%, but the replication of bacteria was increased by 20 folds. 3. Insoluble glucan was significantly formed at a concentration of 1.0mM of calcium chloride, 40mM of potassium chloride, 0.1mM of magnesium chloride, while the replication of bacteria was little influenced by them regardless their concentration. 4. The formation of insoluble glucan and bacterial replication were significant in the media containing 10mM of sodium bicarbonate, but both were completely inhibited at 100mM or above. The production of insoluble glucan and the bacterial replication were largely decreased at 10mM of Tris while insoluble glucan was formed in abundance at 100mM of Tris. 5. The synthesis of insoluble glucan and the bacterial replication were inhibited at 10mM or above of sodium phosphate and potassium phosphate.

  • The piezoelectric properties and the doping effect of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ and Mn $O_2$for 0.95PbZ $r_{x}$ $Ti_{x}$ $O_3$+0.05Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$ compositions have been investigated. In the composition of 0.95PbZ $r_{0.54}$ $Ti_{0.46}$ $O_3$+0.05Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$the Values Of $k_{p}$ find and $\varepsilon$$_{33}$ $^{T}$ are maximized, but $Q_{m}$ Was minimized ( $k_{p}$ =0.51, $Q_{m}$ =1750). The grain size was suppressed and the uniformity of grain was improved with doping concentration of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ for 0.95PbZ $r_{0.54}$ $Ti_{0.46}$ $O_3$+0.005Pb(M $n_{0.42}$ $W_{0.26}$S $b_{0.32}$) $O_3$sample. The values of $k_{p}$ increased and the values of $Q_{m}$ slightly decreased when 0.5 wt% of N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ is doped. And the values of $k_{p}$ was the same formation of the N $b_2$ $O_{5}$ dopant when 0.5 wt% of M $n_2$ $O_{5}$ is doped. But the values of $Q_{m}$ was deeply decreased when 0.5 wt% of Mn $O_2$is doped. As a experiment results under high electric field driving, this piezoelectric ceramics are very stable. Conclusively, piezoelectric ceramic compsiton investigated at this paper is suitable for application to high power piezoelectric devices.. devices..ices.. devices..

  • 박막태양전지에서 p-layer, i-layer, n-layer의 thickness와 doping concentration은 가장 기본이 되는 요소이다. 각 layer에서 위 두 가지 요소를 ASA simulator를 이용해서 높은 효율을 갖는 박막태양전지를 설계하기 위해 조절하였다. Simulation결과 p-layer의 thickness는 $9.5*10^{-9}m$, doping concentration은 0.2eV, i-layer의 thickness는 $4.535*10^{-7}m$, n-layer의 thickness는 $2*10^{-8}m$, doping concentration 은 0.1eV에서 최종 11.48%의 효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 높은 효율의 박막태양전지 설계 시에 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

  • Let$P{\rightarrow}M$ be an oriented $S^2-fiber$ bundle over a closed manifold M and let Q be its associated SO(3)-bundle, then we investigate the ring structure of the cohomology of the total space P by constructing the coupling form TA induced from an SO(3) connection A. We show that the cohomology ring of total space splits into those of the base space and the fiber space if and only if the Pontrjangin class $p_1(Q)\;{\in}\;H^4(M;\mathbb{Z})$ vanishes. We apply this result to the twistor spaces of 4-manifolds.

Extracellular proteases from bacillus licheniformis : partial purification and characterization (Bacillus licheniformis의 세포막 프로티아제 부분 정제 및 특성)

  • Extracellular proteases of Bacillus licheniformis were partially purified using ammonium sulfate fractionation and Sephadex G-75 gel filtration chromatography. The partial purification permited the weparation of two different protease activities, type I and type II. Protease type I is an enzyme with rather high protealytic activity toward dasein and was highly susceptible to organofluoride and EDTA inhibitions. It showed maximal proteolytic activity at pH 7.5 and was rapidly denatured at $71^{\circ}C$. Protease type II is a protease with relatively lower proteolytic activity than the type I. It was also inhibited by 10mM of EDTA and 1mM of PMSF by 30 min incubation. The enzyme showed maximal activity at pH 8.0 and was denatured relatively slowly at $71^{\circ}C$.

Meta-Analysis of Endovascular Treatment for Acute M2 Occlusion

  • Objective : Endovascular treatment (EVT) outcomes for acute M2 segment of middle cerebral artery occlusion remains unclear because most results are obtained from patients with large artery occlusion in the anterior circulation. The objective of this study was to assess procedural outcomes for acute M2 occlusion and compare outcomes according to thrombus location (M1 vs. M2). Methods : A systematic review was performed for online literature published from January 2004 to December 2016. Primary outcome was successful recanalization rate and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (S-ICH) after the procedure. A fixed effect model was used if heterogeneity was less than 50%. Results : Eight articles were included. EVT showed successful recanalization rate of 69.1% (95% confidence interval [CI], 54.9-80.4%) and S-ICH rate of 6.1% (95% CI, 4.5-8.3%). The rates of good clinical outcome at 3 months and mortality were 59.4% (95% CI, 49.9-68.2%) and 14.9% (95% CI, 11.4-19.3%), respectively. According to thrombus location (M1 vs. M2), successful recanalization (odds ratio [OR], 1.539; 95% CI, 0.293-8.092; p=0.610) and S-ICH (OR, 1.313; 95% CI, 0.603-2.861; p=0.493) did not differ significantly. Good clinical outcome was more evident in M2 occlusion after EVT than that in M1 occlusion (OR, 1.639; 95% CI, 1.135-2.368; p=0.008). However, mortality did not differ significantly according to thrombus location (OR, 0.788; 95% CI, 0.486-1.276; p=0.332). Conclusion : EVT seems to be technically feasible for acute M2 occlusion. Direct comparative studies between EVT and medical treatment are needed further to find specific beneficiary group after EVT in patient with M2 occlusion.

Development of Red Wine Using Monascus anka (Monascus anka를 이용한 적포도주 제조)

  • Effects of Monascus anka and Saccharomyces cerevisiae on wine brewing were investigated. Alcohol dehydrogenase activity in cell-free extracts of M. anka was 56.89% as compared to 100% of S. cerevisiae. Although initial fermentation was low, M. anka exhibited very similar fermentation pattern and ethanol production to those of S. cerevisiae. Acidity and reducing sugar content of red wine produced by M. anka were higher than those of S. cerevisiae-produced one. During fermentation, color value increased, whereas turbidity decreased in both red wine. M. anka-produced wine showed higher color value than S. cerevisiae-produced one. During fermentation, phenolic compounds known as antioxidants of red wine decreased. Total phenolic content (1608.01 mg/L) of M. anka-produced red wine was significantly higher than that (1337.60 mg/L) of S. cerevisiae-produced one (p<0.05). These results suggest quality of red wine could be improved using M. anka.

INFLUENCE OF DIETARY ENERGY AND POSTMORTEM ELECTRICAL STIMULATION ON MEAT QUALITY AND COLLAGEN CHARACTERISTICS OF LAMB CARCASSES

  • Sixty ram lambs, weighting 23.5 kg, were randomly assigned in a $2{\times}3$ factorial arrangement of two dietary energy (high; 11.7 and low; 9.0 MJ ME/kg DM) and three levels of poultry offal meal supplementation (0, 5 and 10%). Lambs were fed ad libitum for 120-day before slaughter. At slaughter, half the lambs in each dietary treatment group were randomly selected for electrical stimulation of their undressed carcasses. The M. Biceps femoris pH and temperatures were monitored at 1, 3, 5, 8 and 24 h postmortem. At 24 h postmortem, the M. biceps femoris was removed from the fight side of each carcass and steaks were obtained for determination of Warner-Bratzler shear force, collagen content and collagen solubility. The results showed that temperature and pH values during the 24-h postmortem were consistently higher (p < .01) and lover (p < .01), respectively, for M. biceps femoris from lambs fed high energy diets than for those fed on low energy diets. Muscles from high energy fed lambs had lower (p < .01) shear force values and higher (p < .01) percent soluble collagen than for low energy fed lambs; total collagen content was not significantly influenced by dietary energy level. Increased the level of poultry offal meal supplementation in the diet to 10% was associated with concomitant increases (p < .01) in muscle tenderness and percent soluble collagen. Electrical stimulation (ES) of carcasses resulted in a lower shear force values for the M. biceps femoris than in non-stimulated carcasses (Non-ES); total collagen content and percent soluble collagen were not significantly affected by ES treatment.
