The present study aimed to investigate the effects of skin care foods on the synthesis of pro-collagen type I C peptide and suppression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 secretion through an in vitro study using fibroblasts (Hs68 cells) and keratinocytes (HaCaT cells). Among the three skin care foods developed in this study, three beans cookie and avocado yoghurt influenced the production of pro-collagen type I C peptide and suppressed MMP-1 secretion; however, tiger nut Galsu drink did not exhibit these effects. All skin care foods, including three beans cookie and plain yoghurt ($50{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.001) influenced the suppression of MMP-1 in addition to other commercially available breast milk production support foods examined, such as Heath Heather ($50{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.001), Happy Mama ($50{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.01), BioLys ($50{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.001), Enfamama ($25{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.0001), and Pregnagen ($25{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.001). Avocado fruit yoghurt ($25{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.05), avocado fruit jam yoghurt ($50{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.01), Enfamama ($100{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.05), and Pregnagen ($100{\mu}g/mL$, p<0.05) influenced the production of pro-collagen type I C peptide and suppressed MMP-1 secretion. This result indicates that only avocado jam yoghurt significantly influenced both the prevention of skin keratinization and acceleration of recovery of skin fibrous structure. Therefore, avocado is a favorable ingredient for nutrition-balanced dietary foods or an essential ingredient in products for revitalization of human skin.

The present study was performed to determine the ability of canine oocytes to achieve nuclear maturation according to oocyte diameter and different culture environments. All of the collected oocytes were classified by grade 1 to 3 and by their diameters such as $<100{\mu}m,\;<100{\mu}m\;to\;<110{\mu}m,\;<110{\mu}m,\;to\;<120{\mu}m,\;>120{\mu}m,$. Oocytes were cultured in culture medium supplemented with $10\%\;FBS,\;0.4\%\;BSA,\;10\%$ porcine follicular fluid (pFF), $10\%$ canine serum (CS), or $10\%$ canine estrus serum (CES). The mean number of oocytes recovered from estrus status ovaries was significantly higher than that of anestrus status ovaries (p<0.01). The maturation rate of grade 1 oocytes $(>120{\mu}m)$ was significantly higher than that of the other groups (p<0.05). Nuclear maturation to MI to MII in diameter of $>110{\mu}m$ groups was significantly higher than that in $<100{\mu}m$ group (p<0.05). The oocytes cultured in $10\%$ FBSsupplemented group were significantly higher rate of GVBD compared to the other supplemented groups (p<0.05), and oocytes maturation to MI to MII in $10\%$ FBS-, $0.4\%$ BSA-, and $10\%$ pFF-supplemented groups were significantly higher than those in $10\%$ CS-supplemented group (p<0.05). Based on these results, the estrus status and the size of oocyte affect positively to improve nuclear maturation of canine immature oocytes in vitro. Among several protein sources, porcine follicular fluid was the most effective supplementation to culture medium to achieve higher in vitro maturation rate.

We compared intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatment plans with commercially available multileaf collimators (MLCs) of different leaf width for intracranial lesions. Twelve cases previously treated with micro-MLCs(mMLCs) were replanned using the Varian 120 and 80 MLCs. These collimators have minimum leaf width of 3mm, 5 mm and 10 mm at isocenter, respectively. These three plans were compared with respect to the uniformity and the conformity indices, doses to normal tissue. For the uniformity index of planning target volume (PTV),there was no statistically significant difference between mMLCs with 120 MLCs (p = 0.06). However, there was a little difference between mMLCs with 80 MLCs (p = 0.001). Maximum target dose to the PTV showedno dependency with respect to the leaf width. On the contrary, there were statistically significant differences in the conformity indices between mMLCs and 120 MLCs (p = 0.003) and between mMLCs and 80 MLCs (p = 0.003).The volumetric increments for MLCs with leaf widths of 5 mm and 10 mm were 6.3% and 23.2% for the normal tissue Irradiated to = 50% dose, and 8.7% and 32.7% for the normal tissue Irradiated to = 70% dose, respectively, compared to the volume for MLCs with leaf width of 3 mm. This shows that for the sparing of normal tissue, MLCs with leaf width of 3 mm are more effective, compared to MLCs with leaf widths of 5 mm and 10 mm.
5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is a representative photosensitizer used in numerous fields including cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this study, experiments were conducted to optimize the growth of Rhodobacter sphaeroides and production of ALA through LED irradiation of various wavelengths, addition of organic acid precursors of ALA, and changes in glucose concentration. After 72 h cultivation, the 850 nm wavelength LED irradiated at the same light intensity as the incandescent lamp increased the growth of R. sphaeroides and the production of ALA about 1.5- and 1.8-fold as compared with the control, respectively (p <0.0001 and p <0.0001). As a result of culturing R. sphaeroides by irradiating an LED with a wavelength of 850 nm after adding organic acid to the final concentration of 5 mM in culture medium, the production of ALA was increased about 2.8-fold in medium supplemented with pyruvic acid compared with the control (p <0.0001). In addition, the growth of the strain and the production of ALA were increased about 2.9- and 3.4-fold in medium supplemented with 40 mM glucose compared to the control which added only 5 mM pyruvic acid, respectively (p <0.0001 and p <0.0001). The yield of ALA per cell dry mass was about 1.4 folds higher than that of the control in 20 and 40 mM glucose, respectively (p <0.001). In conclusion, the growth of R. sphaeroides and production of ALA were increased by 850 nm wavelength LED irradiation. It also optimized the growth of R. sphaeroides and production of ALA through organic acid addition and glucose concentration changes.
In this paper, we prove a weighted norm inequality for the Marcinkiewicz integral operator $\mathcal{M}_{{\Omega},h}$ when $h$ satisfies a mild regularity condition and ${\Omega}$ belongs to $L(log L)^{1l2}(S^{n-1})$, $n{\geq}2$. We also prove the weighted $L^p$ boundedness for a class of Marcinkiewicz integral operators $\mathcal{M}^*_{{\Omega},h,{\lambda}}$ and $\mathcal{M}_{{\Omega},h,S}$ related to the Littlewood-Paley $g^*_{\lambda}$-function and the area integral S, respectively.
In this study, the experimental measurements from a one-way moving experiment showed that the average movement speed was 0.55 m/s with an average crowd density of $2.36P/m^2$ in a corridor. The cCalculation result of the correlations between the crowd density and movement speed from the SFPE Handbook showed an average of 0.53 m/s. The difference between the calculation and experiment was 0.02 m/s. A comparison of each data set showed that the maximum difference was 0.38 m/s. Some experimental results showed that the crowd density increased with increasing movement speed and the average data from the entire experiment time was used for the analysis. When the short time interval for frame by frame analysis for video files was conducted, the experimental data was expected to be more reliable.
In LID facilities treating stormwater runoff, various kinds of plants are applied for water circulation recovery and pollutant reduction. However, rapid changes of soil moisture due to the use of porous media and spread of deicing material during winter season cause slow plant growth that detrimentally leads to many problems including death of plants. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the salt resistance of plants, its effects on pollutants removal, and water circulation recovery. Eight different kinds of plants applicable to an LID facility were selected for the experiment, which were Bridal wreath (Spiraea japonica, S.J), Azalea (Rhododendron indicum, R.I), Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides, M.G), Sweet flag (Acorus calamus A.C), Dwarf fan-shape columbine(Aquilegia flabellata, A.F), Pink (Dianthus chinensis, D.C), Pratia pedunculata (Pratia pedunculata, P.B) and Marigold (Tagetes patula, T.P). Woody plants such as S.P, R.I, and M.G appear to have less salt resistance compared to the other herbaceous plants. Specifically, M.G achieved the highest salt resistance among the other woody plants being followed by S.P, and R.I, respectively. For herbaceous plants, T.L and D.C have the higher salt resistances than that of A.C, P.B, and A.F, respectively. Regardless of the influence of salt to most of the plants, TN and TP were reduced more than 60% and the study suggests the M.G showed high pollutant removal efficiency and provided better water circulation by means of active photosynthesis and respiration due to higher growth.

Let $I{\in}C^{1,1}$ be a strongly indefinite functional defined on a Hilbert space H. We investigate the number of the critical points of I when I satisfies two pairs of Torus-Sphere variational linking inequalities and when I satisfies m ($m{\geq}2$) pairs of Torus-Sphere variational linking inequalities. We show that I has at least four critical points when I satisfies two pairs of Torus-Sphere variational linking inequality with $(P.S.)^*_c$ condition. Moreover we show that I has at least 2m critical points when I satisfies m ($m{\geq}2$) pairs of Torus-Sphere variational linking inequalities with $(P.S.)^*_c$ condition. We prove these results by Theorem 2.2 (Theorem 1.1 in [1]) and the critical point theory on the manifold with boundary.
Gel-type fermented milk was prepared from milk or mixture of milk and apple juice/grape juice. Acid production (pH change) and growth of Lactobacillus acidophilus (KCTC 2182) were studied. The effects of juice addition on sensory property of fermented milk were also studied. The pH value of samples containing mixture of milk and apple juice/grape juice (25 mL : 25 mL to 5 mL : 45 mL) was lower than that of milk sample. However, number of viable cells of L. acidophilus at 21 hr in milk and samples containing juices was similar. During lactic fermentation for 24 hr, pH of all samples dropped significantly between 6 hr and 21 hr. pH values of mixture of milk and juices were lower than that of milk sample. Growth curve showed that lag phase continued to approximately 3 hr and log phase continued to approximately 15 hr in all samples. Number of viable cells in all samples was similar Sensory evaluation showed that overall acceptability of fermented milk prepared from apple juice/grape juice and milk (15 mL : 35 mL or 5 mL : 45 mL) was better than that of reference sample. The optimum ratio of mixture of juice and milk was 15 mL : 35 mL. The score values of sensory test of fermented milk prepared from mixture of grape juice and milk were slightly higher than those of mixture of apple juice and milk.
The purpose of this study was to estimate the intake of individual fatty acid and eventually to contribute to the establishment of dietary guidelines and recommendations of fatty acids for the Koreans. The subjects consisted of female college students aged 20 to 29 years old. Their dietary intake was assessed twice. in summer and in winter, by means of a 24-hour dietary recall method. Food models and other measuring tools were also used. Concentrations of serm total triglyceride, total cholesterol and HDL-& LDL-cholesterol were measured. The subjects consumed 12.3g of polyunsaturated fatty acids, 14.3g of monounsaturated fatty acids and 14.99g of saturated fatty acids per day The ratios of polyunsaturated/saturated fatty acids( P/S) and polyunsaturatedimonounsaturatedi saturated fatty acids (P/M/S) taken by the subjects were 0.8/1.0 and 0.8/l.0/l.0, respectively. The ratio of w61w3 fatty acids was found to be 8.3/l.0. All of these values seem to fall in the desirable range. The percentages of total calorie from carbohydrate. fat and protein were 59.4%, 23.4% and 17.2%, respectively. The concentrations of serum total triglyceride, total cholesterol. HDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were 59.3ms/dl, 192.7mg/dl, and 59.0mg/dl, and 121.9mg/dl., respectively.
