Many studies have shown that the steamed root of Rehmannia glutinosa (SRG), which is widely used in the treatment of various neurodegenerative diseases in the context of Korean traditional medicine, is effective for improving cognitive and memory impairments. The purpose of this study was to examine whether SRG extracts improved memory defects caused by administering scopolamine (SCO) into the brains of rats. The effects of SRG on the acetylcholinergic system and proinflammatory cytokines in the hippocampus were also investigated. Male rats were administered daily doses of SRG (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, i.p.) for 14 days, 1 h before scopolamine injection (2 mg/kg, i.p.). After inducing cognitive impairment via scopolamine administration, we conducted a passive avoidance test (PAT) and the Morris water maze (MWM) test as behavioral assessments. Changes in cholinergic system reactivity were also examined by measuring the immunoreactive neurons of choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and the reactivity of acetylcholinesterase (AchE) in the hippocampus. Daily administration of SRG improved memory impairment according to the PAT, and reduced the escape latency for finding the platform in the MWM. The administration of SRG consistently significantly alleviated memory-associated decreases in cholinergic immunoreactivity and decreased interleukin-$1{\beta}$ (IL-$1{\beta}$) and tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$) mRNA expression in the hippocampus. The results demonstrated that SRG had a significant neuroprotective effect against the neuronal impairment and memory dysfunction caused by scopolamine in rats. These results suggest that SRG may be useful for improving cognitive functioning by stimulating cholinergic enzyme activities and alleviating inflammatory responses.
Purpose: Healthcare is on the whole a personal and critical service that consumer's use, whereas hospitalization is as a rule painful, because nature nurtures and Sun Light Luminosity for healthcare settings is considered healing. The performance and design of climate responsive buildings such as AKU requires a detailed study of attributes of climate both at micro as well as macro level. The therapeutic value of contact with nature through window view, greenery and landscape is calculated there. Method: A two prong strategy is been devised for this article, at micro level three typical morphologies are analysed by creating same environment of neighboring building on sun shading chart, radiation and temperature range. Since the analysis of local climate helps to determine the design strategies for hospital Healing Environment which is suitable for Karachi climate; in order to track the macro climatic behaviour, a considerable analysis of psychometrics chart for AKU Karachi are designed on Climate Consultant (CC) and analysed by Machine Learning. Climate Consultant proposes different design strategies suitable for Karachi. And on the other hand time wise illumination sources for clinical area which are then measured on psychrometric chart- according to singular space: multi patient admission, secondly: acute ambulatory ward, and tertiary: multi windowed space according to the mushrabiyah and sky light pattern. Result: Our findings support the hypothesis that windowed wall is 75-80% more healing wall; an accelerated evidence was found for healing at macro level if the form of the hospital is designed according to the climatologically preferences, whereas at micro level: the light resource becomes the staff attentiveness determinant. In Conclusion evidence was provided that the actual form of luminosity results consequently in satisfaction while light entering from several set of windows and other sources might be valued if design according to the healing environment. The data added on the sun shading chart to calculate rays entraining into space in patient room equal to 124416.21 Watts/ meter $m^2$ is calculated as precise healing rate-and is confirmed by questionnaire from patients belonging from each clinical stage having different illnesses.
Combat modeling and simulation (M&S) of large-scale computer generated forces (CGFs) enables the development of even the most sophisticated strategy of combat warfare and the efficient facilitation of a comprehensive simulation of the upcoming battle. The DEVS-POMDP framework is proposed where the DEVS framework describing the explicit behavior rules in military doctrines, and POMDP model describing the autonomous behavior of the CGFs are hierarchically combined to capture the complexity of realistic world combat modeling and simulation. However, it has previously been well documented that computing the optimal policy of a POMDP model is computationally demanding. In this paper, we show that not only can the performance of CGFs be improved by an efficient POMDP tree search algorithm but CGFs are also able to conveniently learn the behavior model of the enemy through case studies in the scenario of counterfire warfare and the scenario of a mechanized infantry brigade's offensive operations.
The politics instruction, where utilizing an online game named 'Goonzu' as an instructional tool had been implemented to students from four classes of 5th grade during ten weeks. Four teachers participated in teaching the students and constructed curriculum by playing 'Goonzu' and analyzing the regular elemental school Politics curriculum before implementation. To verify effectiveness of the instruction, the survey, asking students' efficacy, interest and their cognitive changes of main elements that students considered when they elected their representatives, was conducted. Moreover opinions about this instruction from the students and the teachers were gathered through the forms of interview and short essay. As the results of this research, students' efficacy toward doing politic activities was significantly increased. However, m case of students' interests to this instruction, there was no significant difference despite of increase of the mean. Also, students put more weight on intrinsic e1ements(daigency, responsibility) of the representative in online election than offline election and the students, who took the course, stressed intrinsic elements more than other students.
This paper describes research on intelligent game character through performance enhancements of physics engine in computer games. The algorithm that recognizes the physics situation uses momentum back-propagation neural networks. Also, we present an experiment and its results, integration methods that display optimum performance based on the physics situation. In this experiment on integration methods, the Euler method was shown to produce the best results in terms of fps in a simulation environment with collision detection. Simulation with collision detection was shown similar fps for all three methods and the Runge-kutta method was shown the greatest accuracy. In the experiment on physics situation recognition, a physics situation recognition algorithm where the number of input layers (number of physical parameters) and output layers (destruction value for the master car) is fixed has shown the best performance when the number of hidden layers is 3 and the learning count number is 30,000. Since we tested with rigid bodies only, we are currently studying efficient physics situation recognition for soft body objects.
Gamers switch their games to a new when get bored or encounter more attractive ones. Switching cost varies by gamers and depends on how they are satisfied with their current game. This study evaluates the satisfaction with current games as the miltiple basic psychological need in the self-determination theory and suggests 'needs-costs' causality research model that explain the variety of gamer's switching behavior. As the empirical test to domestic mobile gamers, the autonomy fulfillment to current game affect reversely with those of autonomy and relatedness. Those relationships between need satisfaction and perceptual switching cost vary according to their age and game genre preference. The results would be applied to understand gamers' switching behavior.

Indoor air quality has been addressed as an important atmospheric environmental issue and has caught attention of the public in recent years in Korea. Good indoor air quality in classrooms favour student's learning ability, teacher and staff's productivity according to other studies. In this study, each classroom at four different schools was chosen for comparison of indoor and outdoor air quality by means of source generation types such as new constructed classroom, using of cleaning agents and purchased furniture. Temperature, relative humidity (RH), carbon dioxide $(CO_2)$, formaldehyde (HCHO), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) and particulate matter with diameter less than $10{\mu}m\;(PM_{10})$ were monitored at indoor and outdoor locations during lesson. HCHO was found to be the worst among parameters measured in new constructed classroom, HCHO and TVOCs was worst in classroom with new purchased furniture, and TVOCs was worst in classroom cleaned by cleaning agents, Indoor $(CO_2)$ concentrations often exceeded 1500 ppm indicating importance of ventilation. Active activity of students during break time made the $PM_{10}$ concentration higher than a lesson, Improvements and further researches should be carried out considering indoor air quality at schools is of special concern since children and students are susceptible to poor air quality.

Over the past decade, driven by advances in educational theory and pressures for efficiency in the clinical environment, there has been a shift in surgical education and training towards enhanced simulation training. Microsurgery is a technical skill with a steep competency learning curve on which the clinical outcome greatly depends. This paper investigates the evidence for educational and training interventions of traditional microsurgical skills courses in order to establish the best evidence practice in education and training and curriculum design. A systematic review of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and PubMed databases was performed to identify randomized control trials looking at educational and training interventions that objectively improved microsurgical skill acquisition, and these were critically appraised using the BestBETs group methodology. The databases search yielded 1,148, 1,460, and 2,277 citations respectively. These were then further limited to randomized controlled trials from which abstract reviews reduced the number to 5 relevant randomised controlled clinical trials. The best evidence supported a laboratory based low fidelity model microsurgical skills curriculum. There was strong evidence that technical skills acquired on low fidelity models transfers to improved performance on higher fidelity human cadaver models and that self directed practice leads to improved technical performance. Although there is significant paucity in the literature to support current microsurgical education and training practices, simulated training on low fidelity models in microsurgery is an effective intervention that leads to acquisition of transferable skills and improved technical performance. Further research to identify educational interventions associated with accelerated skill acquisition is required.

Since a long work piece influences the natural frequency of the entire system with a miniature high speed spindle, a bar-feeder is used for a long work piece to improve the vibration characteristics of a spindle system. Therefore, it is very important to design optimally support positions between a bar-feeder and a long work piece for a miniature high speed spindle system. The goal of the current paper is to present an optimization method for the design of support positions between a bar-feeder and a long work piece. This optimization method is effectively composed of the method of design of experiment (DOE), the artificial neural network (ANN) and the genetic algorithm (GA). First, finite element models which include a high speed spindle, a long work piece and the support conditions of a bar-feeder were generated from the orthogonal array of the DOE method, and then the results of natural vibration analysis using FEM were provided for the learning inputs of the neural network. Finally, the design of bar-feeder support positions was optimized by the genetic algorithm method using the neural network approximations.

This study was aimed to investigate the memory enhancing effect of Jeongjihwan against scopolamine-induced amnesia in C57BL/6 mice. To determine the effect of Jeongjihwan on the memory and cognitive function, we have injected scopolamine (1 mg/kg, i.p.) into C57BL/6 mice 30 min before beginning of behavior tests. We have conducted Y-maze, Morris water-maze, passive avoidance and fear conditioning tests to compare learning and memory functions. Scopolamine-induced behavior changes of memory impairment were significantly restored by oral administration of Jeongjihwan (100 or 200 mg/kg/day). To elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the memory enhancing effect of Jeongjihwan, we have examined the antioxidant defense system and neurotrophic factors. Jeongjihwan treatment attenuated intracellular accumulation of reactive oxygen species and up-regulated mRNA and protein expression of antioxidant enzymes as assessed by RT-PCR and western blot analysis, respectively. Jeongjihwan also increased protein levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) compared with those in the scopolamine-treated group. Furthermore, as an upstream regulator, the activation of cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) via phosphorylation was assessed by Western blot analysis. Jeongjihwan elevated the phosphorylation of CREB (p-CREB), which seemed to be mediated partly by extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 (ERK1/2) and protein kinase B/Akt. These findings suggest that Jeongjihwan may have preventive and therapeutic potential in the management of amnesia.
