Three different experiments were undertaken to investigate the runoff and erosion loss of diazinon and metolachlor from sloped-field by rainfall. The mobility of two pesticides and which phase they were transported by were examined in adsorption study, the influence of rainfall pattern and slope degree on the pesticide losses were evaluated in simulated rainfall study, and the pesticide losses from soybean field comparing with bare soil were measured in field lysimeter study. Freundlich adsorption parameter (K) ranged $1.6{\sim}2.0$ for metolachlor and $4.0{\sim}5.5$ for diazinon. The K values of pesticides by the desorption method were higher than those ones by the adsorption method. Another parameter (1/n) in Freundlich equation for the pesticides tested ranged $0.96{\sim}1.02$ by desorption method and $0.87{\sim}1.02$ by adsorption method. By the SSLRC's classification for pesticide mobility of diazinon and metolachlor were classified as moderately mobile ($75{\leq}Koc$ <500). Runoff and erosion losses of pesticides by three rainfall scenarios were $0.5{\sim}1.0%$ and $0.1{\sim}0.7%$ for metolachlor and $0.1{\sim}0.6%$ and $0.1{\sim}0.2%$ for diazinon. Distribution of pesticides in soil polite were investigated after the simulated rainfall events. Metolachlor was leached to $10{\sim}15$ cm soil layer and diazinon was leached to $5{\sim}10$ cm soil layer. Losses of each pesticide in the 30% of sloping degree treatment were $0.2{\sim}1.9$ times higher than those ones in the 10% of sloping degree treatment. Pesticide losses from a series of lysimeter plots in sloped land by rainfall ranged $1.0{\sim}3.1%$ for metolachlor and $0.23{\sim}0.50%$ for diazinon, and were $1/3{\sim}2.5$ times to the ones in the simulated rainfall study. The erosion rates of pesticides from soybean-plots were $21{\sim}75%$ lower than the ones from bare soil plots. The peak runoff concentration in soybean-plots and bare soil plots were $1{\sim}9{\mu}gL^{-1}$ and $3{\sim}16{\mu}gL^{-1}$ for diazinon, $7{\sim}31{\mu}gL^{-1}$ and $5{\sim}40{\mu}gL^{-1}$ for metolachlor, respectively.
Lysimeter experiments were conducted to elucidate the behavior of $NO_3-N$ derived from urea applied at different rates and accompanying cations in soils and to further provide fundamental information of rational nitrogen-fertilizer management. Urea was applied at rates of 0, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35kg N/10a to sandy loam pakced into PVC cylindrical lysimeter(vol. : $0.187m^2$, area $0.43m^2$). Leachates from the lysimeter with or without grass grown were collected periodically and analyzed for $NO_3$ and cations. Grass growth and yield responses to N fertilization were also examined. Dry matter yield and nitrogen uptake increased with the urea application rate. The amount of leachate from the lysimeter was negatively correlated with urea application ratesl($r=-0.95^{**}$). The nitrate leaching loss with grass grown was 230 g N/10a at the maximum rate of 35kg N/10a, but the highest leaching loss was observed as 1,607 g N/10a from the bare plot. Increase in urea application rates decreased significantly leaching losses of Ca, Mg, K and Na(>0.01). The highest leaching loss from the bare plot was observed for Ca but only 6.5% of exchangeable form and 14.0% for K from the grass plot respectively. Equivalent ratio of cations to nitrate leached were 3.2 % for the bare plot and the ratio for the grass plot increased with the urea application rate, ranging from 18.6 to 32.7%.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate water use efficiency of barley, wheat, and millet as a substitution crop for rice of fallow paddy field. Dry weight (DW), evapotranspiration, and transpiration of crop grown on the lysimeters controlled with 5 levels of groundwater table (GWT), 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 cm were evaluated for optimum GWT and water use efficiency. All the lysimeters randomized with four replication arrangements were filled up sandy loam and were adjusted to the constant bulk density treated with twice water infiltration from bottom side to upper side of lysimeter. DW of barley, wheat, and millet in the plot of 0cm GWT that is saturated soil showed 34.9%, 44.7%, and 37.1% of that in the plot of 100 cm GWT, respectively showing a serious obstacle in crop growth. Evapotranspiration ratios calculated by evapotranspiration volume (mL) per DW were 166~605 mL for barley, 136~481 mL for wheat, and 81~418 mL for millet showing the order of barley > wheat > millet. Evapotranspiration ratio was increased with decrease of groundwater table that is the condition of moisture saturation. Estimation of GWT for maximum DW of wheat was 76 cm, and those of barley and millet were 100 cm below. The volumetric moisture content of lysimeter soil with cropping was markedly decreased as increase of crop growth because moisture supplying capability by capillary rise of water was less than amount of moisture required by crop.
The application of sludge wastes into agricultural fields has been increasing annually in Korea. In particular, sewage sludge application has been widely accepted in decades. Sewage sludge application aid in the recycling of essential nutrients and act as a source of organic matter improving the structure and water-holding properties of the soil. The efficient use of sludge wastes, however, requires an individual assessment of waste products. This study assessed the biological characteristics of organic waste-treated lysimeter soils and develop its indicator to assess the soil health of organic waste-treated lysimeter soils. Several analytical techniques more recently developed such as restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA), and community level substrate utilization (CLSU) fingerprints allow for detailed analyses of soil microbial communities. PLFA and RFLP was, therefore, used in the study to characterize the microbial communities in soil without the need to isolate individual fungi and bacteria. PLFA, RFLP and CLSU have been utilized to assess microbial characteristics of the lysimeter soils with four different sludge wastes for eight consecutive years. Each of these methods was analyzed for a different aspect of soil microbial characteristics. The study would disclose those methods yielded highly reproductive results for each soil and allow distinguishing the soils based on the structures of specific geneand PLFA-pools more than CLSU fingerprints. PLFA methods, especially, revealed the same relative similarities of the treated soils based on cluster analysis of the biological characteristics. Pig manure compost-treated soil, however, was only the same relative resemblance among the three methods. These results indicated that PLFA easily assessed the biological soil characterization.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the application rate of cattle slury and urea N on productivity of corn and environmental pollution in com cultivation soil. The experiment was conformed in lysimeter which was constructed with 0.33m diameter and 1m height. This study was arranged in split plot design. Main plots were the application rate of mineral fertilizer, as urea, such as 0, 100 and 200kgN/ha and subplots were the application rate of cattle slurry, such as 0, 200 and 400kgN/ha. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Dry matter yields of corn increased as the application rate of cattle slurry and urea increased. 2. Total nitrogen content of whole corn was increased as the application rate of cattle slurry and urea increased 3. The average nitrate content in leaching water by application rate of the slurry and urea N was 7.78$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$(ranged from 6.27 to 9.02$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$). Nitrate content was hardly influenced by application rates of the slurry and urea. However, nitrate content rises in proportion to a rise in precipitation.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of application levels of swine waste and chemical fertilizer on productivity of corn and nitrogen and phosphorus leaching in Lysimeter containing sandy loam soil. Main Plots were consisted of two types of swine waste, such as swine slurry(SS) and compost of swine manure fermented with sawdust(CSMFS), and chemical fertilizer(CF) and the subplots were consisted of application levels of N-fertilezer, such as 100kgN/ha, 200kgN/ha and 400kgN/ha. Lysimeters were constructed with 1m depth, 30cm diameter. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. Dry matter(DM) yield of com enhanced as increased application levels of SS, CSMFS and CF. DM yield reveals that there is an increase in order CS > SS > CSMFS. 2. Nitrogen contents of the whole corn enhanced as increased application levels of SS, CSMFS and CF. Nitrogen content reveals that there is an increase in order CS > SS > CSMFS. 3. $NO_3^{-}$ and P contents in the leaching water increased as increased application levels of SS, CSMFS and CF. $NO_3^{-}$ content was highly elevated in the concentrated rainy season in the experimental early stage. However, P content was affected with the rainfall. The maximum $NO_3^{-}$ and P contents in the leaching water were 14.8ppm and 0.26ppm, respectively.ively.
This study conducted to Investigate the movement of fertilized nutrients in a volcanic ash soil in Jeju using by the pressure-vacuum soil water sampler. The percolated water to measure the ion concentration of leachates was taken from a lysimeter at depths of 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 cm in the soil in where a corn and potato were cultivated as a preceding and succeeding crop, respectively. Fertilizers of N-$P_2$O$_{5}$-$K_2$O were applied at the rate of 36-30-30 kg $10a^{-1}$ for the corn and 28-22-24 kg $10a^{-1}$ for the potato prior to planting of both crops. The highest concentrations of Cl , $NO_3$-N, $Ca^{+2}$ and $K^+$ in percolates were showed at 20cm and 40cm in soil depth at one month after fertilizing, and then gradually moved and reduced into below soil depths. At 5.5 months after fertilization, the concentrations in all soil depths were similar with the value of before fertilization. At depth of 120cm, the concentration of NO$_3$-N and the other cations in leachate was highest 1 to 1.5 months after fertilization. pH in percolated water was negatively correlated with NO$_3$-N concentration while the concentration of $NO_3$-N showed positive correlation between Cl, $Ca^{+2}$ and $Mg^{+2}$ concentrations. This result indicated that those cations can be leached out by accompanied with $NO_3$-N.

Evapotranspiration (ET) information is needed for many applications in agricultural and environmental resource management because crop yields, plant growth and physiological characteristics are primarily water limited. This study was conducted to evaluate the diurnal change of ET using electronic weighing lysimeter and to determine whether the ET of Cnidium officinale Makino could be manipulated through meteorological factors such as solar radiation, windy conditions and air temperature etc., Pot has a diameter of 35 cm and an height of 38 cm. A disturbed soil of sandy loam (coarse, mixed, mesic family of Dystric Fluventic Eutroudepts) within lysimeter has a mass of approximately 40.0 kg. In 2017, 10-minute recordings of data were used for measuring actual ET, and also evaluating a relationship between ET and meteorological factors during from 2 Aug. to 6 Aug. The maximum daily ET of Cnidium officinale was $44.04{\pm}3.949g$ per hour in lysimetric measurements. Diurnal changes of ET was highly correlated with solar radiation ($r^2=0.7778$) and followed by wind speed ($r^2=0.6400$). But on the other hand, air temperature was not consistent with ET ($r^2=0.2260$). This results imply that ET of Cnidium officinaele seems to be mainly governed by radiation energy in clear days, and approximately 40% of solar radiation is likely to be converted into ET. Therefore, weighing lysimeter can be used to accurately estimate actual ET and is expected to attract a great deal of attention to reliable application of water management in agriculture.
