  • The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs on environmental sensitivity. In order to perform this study, 60 sixth-grade students in an elementary school in Seoul are selected and divided into two groups. Half of the students belong to the experimental group which undergoes environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs. The others are in the control group which gets traditional environmental education with textbook. A questionnaire was used to survey effects of environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs. The results of this study are as follows: First, it is found that the environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs is effective on building up the environmental sensitivity. Second, the environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs is effective on 4 domains of the environmental sensitivity - positive reception, expectation, disagreeableness and anger for environment and environmental problems. Moreover, the environmental education using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs makes the students in the experimental group have pro-environmental attitudes and behavior. This study revealed that using method of rephrasing lyrics of songs could be effective on the environmental education. Therefore, we have to provide a variety of chances using this method to enhance the environmental sensitivity.

  • With the development of the Internet and smartphones, digital sound sources are easily accessible, and accordingly, interest in music search and recommendation is increasing. As a method of recommending music, research using melodies such as pitch, tempo, and beat to classify genres or emotions is being conducted. However, since lyrics are becoming one of the means of expressing human emotions in music, the role of the lyrics is increasing, so a study of emotion classification based on lyrics is needed. Therefore, in this thesis, we analyze the emotions of the farewell lyrics in order to subdivide the farewell emotions based on the lyrics. After constructing an emotion dictionary by vectoriziong the similarity between words appearing in the parting lyrics through Word2Vec learning, we propose a method of classifying parting lyrics emotions using Word2Vec and LSTM, which classify lyrics by similar emotions by learning lyrics using LSTM.

  • In a pop song, the creator's intention is communicated to the user through music and lyrics. Lyric meaning is as important as music, but in most cases lyrics are delivered to users in a static form without non-verbal cues. Providing lyrics in a static text format is inefficient in conveying the emotions of a music. Recently, lyrics video with kinetic typography are increasingly provided, but producing them requires expertise and a lot of time. Therefore, in this system, the emotions of the lyrics are found through the analysis of the text of the lyrics, and the deep learning model is trained with the data obtained by converting the melody into a Mel-spectrogram format to find the appropriate emotions for the music. It sets properties such as motion, font, and color using the emotions found in the music, and automatically creates a kinetic typography video. In this study, we tried to enhance the effect of conveying the meaning of music through this system.

  • The hybrid phenomenon of pronunciation of K-Pop lyrics, which is the diction fusion phenomenon of lyrics, is not a strategic measure for an overseas expansion but a natural formation in the course of history of K-Pop. With the debut of Seo Tai-ji and Boys in 1992, the course of K-Pop changed and settled from ballad to dance music. After three years, the success of a hip hop dance music, 'Come Back Home', opened up a door to Korean Americans who ascertained the potential competitiveness of a hip hop music in K-Pop market. And the writer insists that such advance of Korean Americans into K-Pop market is the origin of the bilingual usage and diction fusion phenomenon of K-Pop lyrics. Therefore, this research will look into the pronunciation system of Korean and English in order to understand the bilingual pronunciation system shown in the lyrics sung by Korean American hip hop singers in the 1990s. Moreover, through Korean pronunciation system, this analysis will discover the main cause of continual acceptance and application of Korean American's broken Korean in the diction of lyrics. Last but not least, this exploration will show the correlation of English pronunciation method of Korean lyrics appeared in K-Pop and the diction of Korean lyrics used by Korean American hip hop singers in late 90s. • Mongolian folk songs are inspired by Mongolian labor songs and are classified into long and short songs. Mongolian long songs have ancient origins, are rich in legends, and are a great source of folklore. So it was inscribed by UNESCO in 2008. Mongolian written literature is formed under the direct influence of oral literature. Mongolian long song has 3 classes: ayzam, suman, and besreg by their lyrics and structure. In ayzam long song, the world perfectly embodies the philosophical nature of world phenomena and the nature of human life. Suman long song has a wide range of topics such as the common way of life, respect for ancestors, respect for fathers, respect for mountains and water, livestock and animal husbandry, as well as the history of Mongolia. Besreg long songs are dominated by commanded and trained characters. In this paper, we proposed a method to classify their 3 types of long songs using machine learning, based on their lyrics structures without semantic information. We collected lyrics of over 80 long songs and extracted 11 features from every single song. The features are the name of a song, number of the verse, number of lines, number of words, general value, double value, elapsed time of verse, elapsed time of 5 words, and the longest elapsed time of 1 word, full text, and type label. In experimental results, our proposed features show on average 78% recognition rates in function type machine learning methods, to classify the ayzam, suman, and besreg classes.

  • The puropose of this study is to propose an effective diction training techniqe that conductors can use in choral communication. In chorus, the phonology of the language used in the lyrics influences the diction. Therefore, Korean lyrics must be pronounced according to Korean phonology. In verbal language, accuracy of pronunciation is important, but when expressing lyrics in a song, both vocalization and diction are important. In particular, chorus is sung by many people, so if the diction is not accurate, the lyrics will not be delivered properly. In this study, the dictions of lyrics frequently used in actual Korean choral songs were systematically analyzed according to Korean phonological rules. As a result of the study, the main factor that makes choral diction difficult is the phenomenon of phonological fluctuations in Korean. In particular, phonological fluctuations often occurred when pronouncing the final sound and when consonants and consonants were combined. A follow-up study intends to contribute to the development of choral communication by presenting a systematic choral diction based on Korean phonology.
