  • We designed new compositions for lead free and low temperature sealing glass frit of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system, which can be used for PDP (Plasma Display Panel) or other electronic devices. The $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system can be used as a sealing material at temperatures even lower than 430$^{\circ}C$. This system, however, showed lower bonding strength with glass substrate compared to commercialized Pb based sealing materials. So, we added $TiO_2$ as a promoter for bonding strength. We examined the effect of $TiO_2$ addition on sealing behaviors of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ glasses with the data for flow button, wetting angle, temporary & permanent residual stress of glass substrate, EPMA analysis of interface between sealing materials and glass substrate, and bonding strength. As a result, sealing characteristics of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system glasses were improved with $TiO_2$ addition, but showed a maximum value at 5 mol% $TiO_2$ addition. The reason for improved bonding characteristics was considered to be the chemical interaction between glass substrate and sealing glass, and structural densification of sealing glass itself.

  • In this study, we observed the mechanical properties, thermal stability, and low temperature sealing performance of fluorosilicone elastic composites. When the blend ratio of Phenyl vinyl methyl silicone (PVMQ) was increased, the tensile strength, modulus at 100%, and compression set were decreased. The thermal stability of fluorosilicone elastic composites showed a similar tendency. These were caused by poorer green strength of PVMQ than Fluorosilicone rubber (FVMQ). The change in the tensile strength and elongation at -40℃ showed a decreasing tendency with increasing PVMQ blend ratio. By increasing the PVMQ blend ratio, low-temperature performance was improved. The Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) results showed that Tg was decreased and low-temperature performance was improved with increasing PVMQ blend ratio. However tanδ was decreased becaused of the poor green strength and elasticity of PVMQ. From a hysteresis loss at -40℃, the hysteresis loss value was increased and fluorosilicone elastic composites showed the decreasing tendency of elasticity with increasing PVMQ blend ratio. From the TR test, TR10 was decreased with increasing PVMQ blend ratio. FS-4 (45% PVMQ blended composites) showed a TR10 of -68.0℃ that was 5℃ lower than that of FS-1 (100% FVMQ). The gas leakage temperature was decreased with increasing PVMQ blend ratio. The gas leakage temperature of FS-4 was -69.2℃ that was 5℃ lower than that of FS-1. Caused by the polymer chain started to transfer from a glassy state to a rubbery state and had a mobility of chain under Tg, the gas leakage temperature showed a lower value than Tg. The sealing performance at low temperature was dominated by Tg that directly affected the mobility of the polymer chain.

  • New glass compositions for lead free, low temperature sealing glass frit was examined in $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ glass system which can be used sealing material for PDP to be made of soda lime glass substrates. Among many glass compositions, KFS-C glass showed low glass transition point (Tg) and good fluidity and adhesion characteristics when it was tested by flow button method at low temperature of $420^{\circ}C$. Its Tg was $317^{\circ}C$ and thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) was $70{\times}10^{-7}/K$. The glass frit was mixed with an organic vehicle to make a paste and it was dispensed and sealed with soda lime glass substrates at $420^{\circ}C$ for 10min. Sealed glass panels also showed good adhesion strength even sealed at low temperature of $420^{\circ}C$.

  • In this work, we reported fabrication of sealing the glass substrate using laser treatment at low temperature for electrochemical luminescence (ECL) cell. The laser treatment at temperature is using laser diode. The glass substrate sealing by laser treatment tested at 3-10W, 2-5 mm/s for build and tested. The sealing laser treatment method will allow associate coordination between the two glass substrate was enclosed. The effect of laser treatment to sealing the glass substrate was found to have cracks and air gap at best thickness of about 550-600 im for condition 3 W, 3 mm/s. The surface of sealing was roughness which was not influent to electrodes It can reduce the cracks, crevices and air gaps as well, improves the performance viscosity in butter bus bar electrodes. Therefore, it is more effective viscosity between two FTO glasses substrate.

  • This experiment carried out to find the storage life according to the kinds of packaging material. Sheridan(Grape) which was fumigated SO2 were wrapped with polyethylenes(Bio-PE and PE) and stored at $0^{\circ}C$ under 90% RH modified condition. The resorts were summarized as follow. Natural weight loss was increased according to the storage time during the 135days storage that was only 1.0-1.7% in sealing section while 10% in non-sealing section. Abonrmal fruits were increased as the storage time was increased and it was 6.6-6.7% in sealing section while 100% in non-sealing during the 135days storage. Quality of appearance and taste are better in sealing section than non-sealing section and it was good in Bio-PE sealing section between packaging materials. Moistrue content was de creased as the storage range was increased and the decreasing rate of that during the storage was 4.9-5.2% in sealing section between treatments. During the storage range increased, the soluble solid degree was increased in non-sealing section but decreased in sealing section.

  • In this paper, the contact behavior characteristics of a primary sealing components such as a seal ring and a seal seat has been presented for a small hydro-power turbine. Using the non-linear FEM analysis, the maximum temperature, the axial displacement, radial differences between a seal ring and a seal seat, and maximum contact normal stress have been analyzed for three optimized sealing profiles in which are designed based on the FEM analysis and Taguchi's experimental method. The three primary sealing profiles between a seal ring and a seal seat are strongly related to a leakage of a water for a hydro-power turbine and wear of a primary sealing component. The computed results show that the contact rubbing area between a seal ring and a seal seat is very important for reducing a friction heating and wear in a sealing gap, and increasing a contact normal stress in primary sealing components. Based on the FEM computation, models II and III in which have a small rubbing surface of seal rings show low dilatation of primary sealing components, and high normal contact stress between a seal ring and a seal seat. Thus, the FEM computed results recommend a short contacting width of a primary sealing component for reducing a leakage and thermal distortions, and expanding a seal life. This means that a conventional primary sealing component may be switched to a reduced sealing face of seal rings.

  • This paper discusses the application of Si-Borosilicate glass sealing to a new sealing method which utilizes a large electrostatic field to pormote bound formation at relatively low temperature. Bonding mechanism and the effect of bonding time bonding temperature glass thickness and surface roughness on the bond strength were investigated. Application of a de voltage across bonded specimen gradually produced a layer of glass adjacent silicon which was depleted of mobile ions. As a consequence a n increasingly larger fraction of the applied voltage appeared across the depleted region and very large electric field resulted This field accompanyed by large electrostatic force acted as driving force the of strong bond. And stronger bond was formed with increasing bonding time and temperature. A low temperature preoxidation is advantageous for the Si surface having a rougher surface finish that 1 microinch.

  • In this study, we developed a lead-free $P_2O_5-V_2O_5-ZnO$ glass frit for sealing OLED using laser irradiation. The frit satisfied the characteristics required for laser sealing such as low glass transition temperature, low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), high water-resistance, and high absorption at the wavelength of the laser beam. Ceramic fillers were added to the glass frit in order to further reduce and match its CTE with that of the commercial glass substrate. The addition of Zirconium Tungsten Phosphate (ZWP) to the frit yielded the most desirable results, reducing the CTE to $45.4{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$, which is very close to that of the glass substrate ($44.0{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$). Successful formation of a solid sealing layer was observed by optical and scanning electron microscopy.
