The photoperiod and temperature response of Korean varieties were studied under field and greenhouse conditions. Results of the experiment indicated that all varieties tested were relatively intensitive to photoperiod. The early varieties were least affected by photoperiod while the late varieties showed the greatest response. Low temperature delays flowering either under short daylength or natural daylength. In general, temperature has a greater effect than photoperiod on the growth duration of the varieties used. The late varties had longer photoperiod-sensitive phase than the early varieties. Temperature has very little effect on the photoperiod-sensitive phase. The basic vegetative phase is longer in the early varieties than the late varieties. High temperature results shorten duration of the basic vegetative phase.
This article reports a experimental study of the method to achieve a bond joint at lower temperature in a short time. DC magnetron sputtering of Sn, Sn/Pb, Sn/In and Sn/Cu on copper substrate was provided as an interlayer for Cu to Cu bonding under the air environment. Various examination was conducted and investigated on the effect of experimental parameters such as coating materials, coating time(or coating thickness), bonding temperature and bonding time etc. Bonding was performed at the temperature of $210^\circC-320^\circC$ for 0sec and interfacial reaction between the coated layer and copper substrate was examined using optical, scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffractometer. From the obtained results, it was found that intermetallic compounds layer consisted of $\eta-phase(Cu_6Sn_5)$ and $\beta-phase(Cu_3Sn)$ was formed at the joint interface for almost all coating materials. But the dominant phase formed in the preetched Cu substrate coated with Sn was $\beta-phase$. A characteristic morphology looks like a reaction ring, which was believed as the strong interconnecting regions between two substrates, was found to be formed on the reaction surface of copper substrates. The morphologies and compositions of the intermetallics, which depends on the regions of the reaction surface, was appeared as greatly different. Based on above results, the new bonding process to make the joint at lower temperature for short time can be admitted as a feasible process.
Magnetic properties of YIG films grown by solid phase epitaxy (SPE) was measured as a function of temperature with focus on magneto-crystalline and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was not induced in the SPE YIG films annealed at low temperature by relaxing residual stress through formation of dislocation. On the contrary the films annealed at high temperature showed perpendicular magnetic anisotropy which shows very low density of dislocation. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy field decreased linearly up to a high temperature of $230^{\circ}C$ above which magneto-crystalline anisotropy disappeared. Coercivity also decreased linearly with temperature up 세 $230^{\circ}C$. Magneto-crystalline anisotropy of perpendicular anisotropy induced epitaxial (111) YIG films can be measured using $H_k=4K_1/3M_s$. Temperature behavior of initial susceptibility can be successfully explained by Hopkinson effects. Curie temperature of YIG films grown on GGG substrate with high paramagnetic susceptibility can be easily measured using the results.
TiC-21 mol% Mo solid solution (${\delta}$-phase) and TiC-99 mol% Mo solid solution (${\beta}$-phase), and TiC-(80~90) mol% Mo hypo-eutectic composite were deformed by compression in a temperature range from room to 2300 K and in a strain rate range from $4.9{\times}10^{-5}$ to $6.9{\times}10^{-3}/s$. The deformation behaviors of the composites were analyzed from the strengths of the ${\delta}$- and ${\beta}$-phases. It was found that the high strength of the eutectic composite is due primarily to solution hardening of TiC by Mo, and that the ${\delta}$-phase undergoes an appreciable plastic deformation at and above 1420 K even at 0.2% plastic strain of the composite. The yield strength of the three kinds of phase up to 1420 K is quantitatively explained by the rule of mixture, where internal stresses introduced by plastic deformation are taken into account. Above 1420 K, however, the calculated yield strength was considerably larger than the measured strength. The yield stress of ${\beta}$-phase was much larger than that of pure TiC. A good linear relationship was held between the yield stress and the plastic strain rate in a double-logarithmic plot. The deformation behavior in ${\delta}$-phase was different among the three temperature ranges tested, i.e., low, intermediate and high. At an intermediate temperature, no yield drop occurred, and from the beginning the work hardening level was high. At the tested temperature, a good linear relationship was held in the double logarithmic plot of the yield stress against the plastic strain rate. The strain rate dependence of the yield stress was very weak up to 1273 K in the hypo-eutectic composite, but it became stronger as the temperature rose.
The classical molecular dynamics simulation was used to study the phase transition of gold nanoparticles under confinement using Sutton-Chen (SC) potential. Metal gold nanoparticles with different number of atoms are subject to replica exchange molecular dynamics simulation for this purpose. The simulation showing the solidto-liquid melting temperature largely remains unaffected by confinement, while the confinement induces characteristic pre-melting at very low temperature depending on atom number in nanoparticles.
A highly reliable conductive adhesive obtained by transient liquid-phase sintering (TLPS) technologies is studied for use in high-power device packaging. TLPS involves the low-temperature reaction of a low-melting metal or alloy with a high-melting metal or alloy to form a reacted metal matrix. For a TLPS material (consisting of Ag-coated Cu, a Sn96.5-Ag3.0-Cu0.5 solder, and a volatile fluxing resin) used herein, the melting temperature of the metal matrix exceeds the bonding temperature. After bonding of the TLPS material, a unique melting peak of TLPS is observed at 356 ℃, consistent with the transient behavior of Ag3Sn + Cu6Sn5 → liquid + Cu3Sn reported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The TLPS material shows superior thermal conductivity as compared with other commercially available Ag pastes under the same specimen preparation conditions. In conclusion, the TLPS material can be a promising candidate for a highly reliable conductive adhesive in power device packaging because remelting of the SAC305 solder, which is widely used in conventional power modules, is not observed.
In-rich InGaN epilayers were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates by radio-frequency plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (RF-MBE). InGaN epilayers grown at various growth condition were observed by SEM, XRD, and RHEED. When plasma power of nitrogen increased from 290 to 350 W, surface morphology and crystal quality became worse according to more active nitrogen on the surface of InGaN at N-rich growth condition. As In composition was reduced from 89 to 71% by changing the incoming flux of In and Ga, surface morphology and crystal quality became worse. In addition, weak peaks of cubic InGaN phase was observed from InGaN layer with 71% In composition by XRD ${\Phi}$ scan measurement. When growth temperature decreased from 500 to $400^{\circ}C$, RHEED diffraction pattern was changed to be from streaky to spotty which means atomically rough surface, and spotty pattern showed cubic symmetry of InGaN clearly. XRD ${\Phi}$ scan measurement gave clear evidence that more cubic InGaN phase was formed at low growth temperature. All these results indicates that extremely low surface mobility of Ga adatom caused inferior crystal quality and cubic InGaN phase.
This study investigates the relationship between the Korean temperature and the atmospheric circulation such as Arctic Oscillation, Siberian High and Aleutian Low during the winter (December-January) for the period of 1970-2011. It is found that all indices to represent aforementioned circulations are significantly correlated with Korean winter temperature for the period of 1970 - 2011. There are marked contrasts in such relationship, however, before and after the mid-1980s when a significant regime shift of Korean winter temperature occurred. While Korean winter temperature has a close relationship with Arctic Oscillation after the mid-1980s, its relationship with Siberian High and Aleutian Low is weakened. The composite analysis between a positive and negative phase of Arctic Oscillation before and after the mid-1980s is conducted to examine a recent strengthening of Arctic Oscillation-Korean winter temperature relationship. It is found that the structural changes of low-level wind and the geopotential height at 500 hPa between the two phases of Arctic Oscillation are more effective to influence Korean winter temperature after the mid-1980s. This may induce a close relationship between the Korean winter temperature variability and Arctic Oscillation after the mid-1980s compared to before the mid-1980s.

YSZ (Yttria Stabilized Zirconia) is used as a thermal barrier coating material for gas turbines due to its low thermal conductivity and high fracture toughness. However, the operating temperature of the gas turbine is rising according to the market demand, and the problem that the coating layer of YSZ is peeled off due to the volume change due to the phase transformation at a high temperature of 1400℃ or higher is emerging. To solve this problem, various studies have been carried out to have phase stability, low thermal conductivity, and high fracture toughness in a high temperature environment of 1400℃ or higher by doping trivalent and tetravalent oxides to YSZ. In this study, the monoclinic phase formation behavior and crystallinity were comparatively analyzed according to the total doping amount of oxides by controlling the doping amounts of Sc2O3 and Gd2O3, which are trivalent oxides, and TiO2, which are tetravalent oxides, in YSZ. Through comparative analysis of monoclinic phase formation and crystallinity, the thermal conductivity of the thermal barrier coating layer according to the amount of doping was predicted.

The interaction and detergency between oily soil and surfactant solution were studied Samples used were tristearin, tripalmitin and their mixture as a triglyceride, myristic acid as a fatty acid and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant. The results were as follows: 1. The mixtures of model oily soils were formed of eutectic point and their melting point were lower than them of individual oily soils. 2. The formation of liquid crystalline (LC) phase was recognized in the triangle phase diagram for SDS~ water~model oily soil system. The areas of LC phase region were in the order of SHS~ water~myristir acid> SDS~ water~mixture of tristearin, tripalmitin and myristic acid (TS/TP/M)>SDS~water~mixture of tristearin and tripalmitin (TS/TP) 3. The LC phase region expanded to wide concentration range of SDS solution and high concentration range of model oily soil with increasing temperature. Particularity, the LC phase region expanded highly at $30~40^{\circ}C$ but when the temperature was elevated above $40^{\circ}C$, expanding tendency decreased. 4. In the system of myristic acid and TS/TP/M contacted with SDS solution, the LC phase was already formed at $28^{\circ}C$ and the region of the LC phase were expanded with increasing temperature. But in the system of TS/TP contacted with SDS solution, the LC phase was not formed in whole experiment temperature. 5. The detergency of myristic acid was very high ann it was recognized that the formation of the LC phase played an important role in the detergency. The detergency of TS/TP was very for low, but when TS/TF was mixed with myristic acid, the detergency of TS/TP increased. It is supposed that the LC phase was formed butween SDS solution and myristic acid promoted to penetration of SDS solution into the inner parts of TS/TP.
