Improvement of the Low-speed Friction Characteristics of a Bent-Axis Type Hydraulic Piston Pump (사축식 유압 피스톤 펌프의 저속 마찰 특성 개선)

  • The hydraulic pump for a Electro-hydrostatic Actuator for aircrafts should be able to quickly feed large volume of oil into hydraulic cylinder in order to reduce the response time. On the other hand, it should be also able to precisely dispense small amount of oil by low-speed operation so that the steady state position control error of the EHA can be accurately compensated. This paper is focused on the investigation how the plasma coating surface treatment of cylinder barrel with CrSiN can contribute to the reduction of low-speed friction torque of a bent-axis type piston pump. The results showed that the reduction of the friction torque was not remarkable, but that the anti-wear characteristics of the CrSiN-coated cylinder barrel were much better that those of the original one.

  • In the development of high speed marine vehicle, lilting devices became important in sharing the pay load or controlling the attitude. The devices are also important to meet the IMO regulation to prevent the marine pollution by keeping the high rudder force for VLCC even in low speed operation. The high lift devices such as the Coanda device have been introduced to the aircraft as a common practice for a long time among the aero-engineers. If the Coanda device can be utilized to the flapped rudder, the severe requirement of rudder force could be provided for the VLCC in low speed operation. The performance of the rudder system has been investigated at the towing tank of Seoul National University.

  • This paper addresses the efficient improvement of the Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) by the proper voltage excitation. In the case of loads with large operational motor-speed differences such as washing machine, an SRM system driven by a constant DC-link voltage is not useful for improving the efficiency. To reduce the effect of the excess DC-link voltage, AC-DC control converter that uses a silicon controlled rectifier instead of diode rectifier is employed in the SRM driver system. AC-DC control converter supplies a proper link voltage for low-speed operation. The experimental results demonstrated that the efficiency of the system was improved at low speeds.

  • This paper proposes analysis and suppression method for reactive power vibration of the slave motor caused by back-EMF mismatch between the master and the slave motor and stator resistance during middle-low speed operation. The master and slave motors are parallel connected dual SPMSMs(Surface mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) fed by a single inverter. To suppress vibration of reactive power, RPC(Reactive Power Compensator) proposed in this paper analyzes flux-axis current vibration of the slave motor that occurs in middle-low speed operation using a mathematical model of the fan motor. And RPC adds vibration components detected from flux-axis current of the slave motor to flux-axis current of the master motor. The results of experiment conducted verify the efficacy of the proposed method.

  • Reaction wheel is one of the actuators for spacecraft attitude control, which generates torque by changing an inertial rotor speed inside of the wheel. In order to generate required torque accurately and estimate an accurate angular momentum, wheel speed should be measured as close to the actual speed as possible. In this study, two conventional speed detection methods for high speed motor with digital tacho pulse (Elapsed-time method and Pulse-count method) and their resolutions are analyzed. For satellite attitude maneuvering and control, reaction wheel shall be operated in bi directional and low speed operation is sometimes needed for emergency case. Thus the bias error at low speed with constant acceleration (or deceleration) is also analysed. As a result, the speed detection error of elapsed-time method is largely influenced upon the high-speed clock frequency at high speed and largely effected on the number of tacho pulses used in elapsed time calculation at low speed, respectively.

  • A high speed frame synchronization system has been realized which generates the frame sync clock from 565Mb/s data stream (the DS-5 digital multiplex hierarchy signal). The design of a frame pattern detector using a parallel detection method brings into low speed operation and resolves the problems due to the high speed operation. The frame synchronization algorithm recommended by CCITT is also realized by designing a sync mode controller. Appropriate design procedures are considered for an efficient hardware design and minimized connection lines. The CAD simulation as well as experiment show that the performance of the newly designed frame synchronization system satisfies the relevant requirements.

  • The performance improvement in the high speed region for the sensorless based synchronous machine drive is discussed in the paper. Conventional dynamic overmodulation method in the vector controlled AC driver requires some calculation of maximum amplitude of the applying voltage vector to limit its amplitude, which leads to increase the calculation time of microprocessor. For low performance microprocessor, this might be impossible to complete the control loop within limited control time. Thus, to reduce the calculation time, the constantly limited amplitude for applying voltage vector is tried in this paper to drive sensorless based synchronous motor. Certainly, there exists some errors in amplitude and phase angle between inverter voltage and calculating voltage in the sensorless algorithm. But, this errors are too small to prevent the high speed sensorless operation within overmodulation region. The validities of the proposed method is proved by the experimental results.

  • Because of many advantages of Maglev(magnetic levitation) trains, the study of Maglev technology has been accelerated rapidly throughout the world. As a results of that, German commercialized the super-speed magnetic train in Shanghai at the world-wide beginning. Japan started the first commercial service for the low speed Maglev train system in Nagoya in the world. For the commercial service of Maglev trains, signal system must be installed on the operation line and be controlled by operation control center In this paper, Maglev train operation systems of the inside and outside of the country are investigated and what is supplied for domestic Maglev train system is investigated.

  • In this study, an extension instruction set for high-speed operation of the ARIA block cipher algorithm on RISC-V processor is added to support high-speed cryptographic operation on low performance IoT devices. We propose the efficient ARIA cryptographic instruction set which runs on a conventional 32-bit processor. Compared to the existing software cryptographic operation, there is a significant performance improvement with proposed instruction set.

  • This study was performed to construct a hot strip speed measuring system and check over whether the measured speed can be used for improving the mass flow of the head-end part of a hot strip in the 7-stand finishing mill. Because the mass flow in hot rolling mill affects the looper operation and the thickness and width control of a strip, accurate measurement of strip speed ie important. The measured speed was compared with the roll speeds of No. 6 and No.7 stand to check the performance of the system and analyzed to find how to apply the speed. As a result, it is shown that the accuracy of the system is enough, strip thickness error can be reduced by -275∼+200$\mu\textrm{m}$ using the measured speed and the existing FSU model has low accuracy for predicting forward slip rate. A neural network was developed to calculate forward slip rate instead of FSU model. The test result of the neural network shows that the neural network is more accurate than the FSU model.
