알칼리 수전해용 전극에 관한 연구 (Study on the Electrode Characteristics for the Alkaline Water Electrolysis)

  • Alkaline electrolysis needs the electrode having a low overvoltage and good corrosion resistance in alkaline solution such as KOH and NaOH, for the oxygen and hydrogen production. The commercial materials such as SUS(stainless steel)-316, Ni and NiFe were evaluated for the electrode in alkaline electrolysis. The test solution for the alkaline electrolysis used 1~9M NaOH and 1~9M KOH. The voltage increased with an increase of current density in each solution. As for the 15wt.% (about 5M) NaOH, the voltage of the tested electrode under the current density of 1.8A/$cm^2$ showed the almost same value. The voltage over the current density of 1.8A/$cm^2$ deceased in the order: Ni${\fallingdotseq}$NiFe$cm^2$ showed the almost same value. The voltage over the current density of 1.8A/$cm^2$ deceased in the order: NiFe${\fallingdotseq}$SUS-316. From the results, it was estimated that NiFe and Ni was suitable as the electrode for the alkaline water electrolysis using NaOH and KOH electrolyte.

  • Photovoltaic solar energy policy in the keynote of the world in the development of new technologies in terms of renewable energy sources has been a great interest. Solar energy is the energy density, low light intensity, temperature, and a lot of areas affected by the difference, the effective use difficult. For the installation of photovoltaic solar power systems to develop farmland or forest land resulting from deforestation has become such a problem. In this paper, a way to resolve these issues as part of the development of the reservoir water through the efficient use of land and water resources through the eco-friendly energy production, water quality improvement, the cooling effect of solar modules, solar water system has the advantage of was installed. Terrestrial solar systems installed under the same conditions and solar radiation, power, module temperature, ambient temperature and analyzed. Cultivation of the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus in Low-Salt Media

  • Two low-salt complex media, bactopeptone and desalted yeast extract, were used for high density cultivation of the hyperthermophilic archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus (DSM 1617). Bactopeptone, which has low mineral ion content among various complex media, was good for cell growth in batch cultures; the maximal cell density in bactopeptone was comparable to that in yeast extract. However, cell growth was rather poor when bactopeptone was added by the fed-batch procedure. Since several vitamins are deficient in abctopeptone, the effect of vitamins on cell growth was examined. Among the vitamins tested, pyridoxine was found to improve the growth rate of S. solfataricus. To reduce the growth inhibition caused by mineral ions, yeast extract was dialyzed against distilled water and then fed-batch cultures were carried out using a fed medium containing desalted yeast extract. Although the concentrations of mineral ions in yeast extract were significantly lowered by the dialysis whether low molecular weight solutes in yest extract are crucial for cell growth, we investigated the effect of trehalose, a most abundant compatible solute in yeast extract, on the growth pattern. Cell densities were increased and the length of the lag phase was markedly shortened by the presence of trehalose, indicating that trehalose plays an important role in the growth of S. solfataricus.

Biodiversity of Meiofauna in thee Intertidal Khe Nhan Mudflat, Can Gio Mangrove Forest, Vietnam with Special Emphasis on Free Living Nematodes

  • The ecological aspect of meiofaunal communities in Can Gio mangrove forest, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam has not been investigated before. The composition, distribution, density and biodiversity of meiofaunal communities were studied along an intertidal transect at the Khe Nhan mudflat. Each time, three replicate samples were collected in four stations along a transect following the water line from low tide level up to the mangrove forest edge. In total, 18 meiofaunal taxa were found with the dominant taxa belonging to Nematoda, Copepoda, Sarcomastigophora and Polychaeta. The densities of meiofauna ranged from $1156inds/10cm^2$ to $2082inds/10cm^2$. The increase in densities from the mangrove forest edge towards the low water line was significant Along the mudflat transect, the biodiversity (expressed by different indices) was relatively high at different taxonomic levels but did not vary significantly along the mudflat except for taxa richness. Eighty nematode genera belonging to 24 families with Comesomatidae having the highest abundance 33.8 % were found. Theristus and Neochromadora decreased in densities from the lower water line towards the mangrove forest edge, while Paracomesoma and Hopperia are typical and more abundant at the middle of the mudflat. Halalaimus increased from high on the mudflat to the low water line.

방사특성 변화에 따른 미세물분무의 소화특성 (Extinguishing Charactristics of Water Mist by Discharge Properties)

  • 할론소화약제는 유류화재 및 전기화재의 진압에 가장 효과적으로 널리 사용되어 왔으나, 이들은 오존층파괴지수와 지구온난화지수가 높아 환경문제를 야기하고 있다. 이러한 환경에 악영향을 주지 않는 대체기술의 하나로 관심을 끌며 연구되기 시작한 소화방법이 미세물분무를 이용한 소화설비이며, 미세물분무는 스프링클러의 살수입자에 비해 물입자가 작고 표면적이 크기 때문에 화염면에서의 증발 및 냉각특성이 우수하며, 산소의 농도를 감소시키는 질식작용이 우수하다. 본 연구는 미세물분무 소화설비의 설계를 위한 기초단계로 유류화재에 대한 미세물분무의 입자크기, 유량밀도, 방사분포, 방사압력 및 화재의 크기에 따른 화염의 소화특성을 측정하였다. 그 결과 액체 poo l화재의 소화시간은 유량밀도가 증가함으로서 짧아지고, 유량밀도가 0.5$\pm$0.05ml/$\textrm{cm}^2$ . min이하인 경우 입자크기가 증가함으로서 짧아졌다. 또 방사주기를 변화시켜 실험한 결과 n-heptane 화재에 대하여 간헐적으로 방사한 미세물분무가 소화에 효과적이었으며, 이때 연속방사와 비교하여 화재를 소화하기 위해 필요한 물의 총량은 1/4로 감소하였다.

방사성폐기물 처분장 되메움재를 위한 국산점토/분쇄암석 혼합물의 수리특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hydraulic Properties of Domestic Clay/Crushed Rock Mixture for the Backfill Material in a Radioactive Waste Repository)

  • 중저준위 방사성폐기물 처분장 되메움재 후보물질로 제안되고 있는 국산 천연점토와 분쇄암석의 혼합물의 수리특성을 조사하였다. 혼합물의 수분함량 변화에 따른 혼합물의 밀도 변화를 조사하여, 동일 압축력 하에서 최대밀도를 얻을 수 있는 최적수분함량을 찾고자 하였으며, 혼합물 중의 점토함량에 따른 수리전도도 변화를 조사하였다. 혼합물 중 점토함량이 감소할수록 얻어 지는 최대밀도가 증가하였으며, 최적수분함량도 보다 명확해졌으나, 혼합물의 밀도는 수분함량에 그다지 민감하지 않았다. 혼합물의 수리전도도는 점토 함량이 감소할수록 증가하여 건조밀도 1.2 Mg/㎥ 일 때 100% 점토인 경우의 3 $\times$ $10^{-12}$ m/s에서 25% 점토함량의 경우에는 7 $\times$ $10^{-10}$ m/s로 증가하였으나, 건조밀도가 1.5 Mg/㎥ 일 때에는 25% 점토함량의 경우에도 5 $\times$ $10^{-12}$ m/s 의 낮은 값을 유지하였다. 혼합물의 수리전도도 추장을 위한 유효점토건조밀도 개념이 제안되었으며. 이 개념은 다양한 건조밀도와 분쇄암석 함량을 가진 혼할물의 수리전도도를 잘 설명할 수 있었다.

  • 아세틸화 처리한 라디에타소나무 섬유를 사용하여 제조한 MDF의 수분에 대한 재질 특성을 조사하고 KS F 3200의 섬유판 품질기준과 비교하였다. 아세틸화 처리 MDF는 품질 기준보다 매우 낮은 함수율과 수분 흡수성 및 두께 팽창율을 보여 우수한 치수안정성을 기대할 수 있다. 아세틸화 처리 MDF의 습윤 시 휨강도는 기건 상태 휨강도의 약 70% 이상에 달해 품질 기준에 적합하였다. 아세틸화 MDF의 습윤 시 박리강도가 품질기준의 기건 상태의 최저 박리강도보다 높은 결과를 보여 내수성이 매우 우수하였다. 아세틸화 MDF의 물방울 접촉각은 무처리 MDF에 비하여 커서 낮은 습윤성에 의한 내수성 향상에 기여하는 것으로 판단된다.

저소성 실트질흙의 흙 시멘트에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cement Mixture With Low Plasticity Silty Soil)

  • The objective of this study is to determine an appropriate cement of soil-cement in which silty soil of salty tidal flat with low plasticity was used. Physical, chemical and mechanical tests were conducted to find out the standard properties of the soil to be used. Various cement contents used in this test were 8%, 10%, 12%, and 14%, and the compressive strength was tested after 7 days and 28 days of standard curing in the above each cement content respectively. The results obtaind are summarized as follows. 1. As the cement content was increased from 8% to 14%, Maximum dry density (M.D.D.) and optimum moisture content (O.M.C.) were not changed remarkably. 2. Density of soil-cement was directly proportional to cement content and inversely proportional to water content. 3. OMC was generally decreased in proportion to the increase of cement content. 4. Compressive stranth was directly proportional to centent and inversely proportional to water content. 5. In freezing and thawing test, maximum loss of 10% in the total Weight was found on the 8% cement mixture. and This loss was rapidly decreased to 2% when the Cement content of the mixture was more than 10%.

수도작용 붐 방제기의 피복특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on Coverage Characteristic of a Self-Propelled Boom Sprayer for Paddy Field)

  • To investigate the feasibility of a boom sprayer in the paddy field, an experimental boom sprayer for both broadcast and directed spraying to the lower part of rice plants was developed. The droplet deposition characteristics of the boom sprayers were experimentally compared to those of power sprayer. Water sensitive papers(WSP) and a machine vision system were used to evaluate the coverage rate and droplet density. It was shown that the broadcast application by the boom sprayer was the best coverage among the tested sprayers. Coverage tate and droplet density were affected by the distance between nozzles and the sprayer ground speed, The best result was obtained when the distance of 30cm and the speed of 1.7km/hr. The directed application showed inconsistency in overall droplet distribution. The inconsistency was judged to be caused by conflict between plants and boom extenders. The power sprayer showed a very wide range of droplet size distribution, relatively larger droplets and inconsistency in cove The power sprayer was judged to be inadequate for the low-volume precision application because of inconsistency in performance and difficulty in adjusting the spraying rate. Based on the droplet coverage characteristics, it was concluded that the self-propelled boom sprayer for the broadcast application was feasible for an alternative to the power sprayer in case of low volume, precision application in paddy condition.

슬러지의 성상이 DAF(Dissolved Air Flotation)를 이용한 팽화 슬러지 농축에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Sludge Characteristics on the Thickening of Bulking Sludge using DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation))

  • Excess sludge treatment and disposal currently represent a rising challenge for domestic or wastewater treatment plants due to economic, environmental and regulation factors. Conventional gravity sedimentation process has been widely used in sludge thickening. The operation method of the process is very simple, but the process requires long detention time for sludge thickening, uses polymers, and shows low sludge thickening efficiency. To solve the problems, we studied on DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) system. We use bulking sludge of a paper manufacturing plant. The effects of parameters such as SVI (Sludge Volume Index), storage time, initial concentration and wet density of excess sludge were examined. The results showed that the more SVI was low, the more sludge was thickened. As storage time goes by, SVI was increased and thickening performance was deteriorated. In order to improve flotation performance at high concentration, high recycling ratio and pressure did not increase the concentration due to thickening limitation. The addition of 0.8 g/L of loess was increased flotation efficiency of 1.41 times.
