Hysteresis-free organic field-effect transistors with ahigh dielectric strength cross-linked polyacrylate copolymer gate insulator

  • Performance of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) with various temperature-cured polyacrylate(PA) copolymer as a gate insulator was studied. The PA thin film, which was cured at an optimized temperature, showed high dielectric strength (>7 MV/cm), low leakage current density ($5{\times}10^{-9}\;A/cm^2$ at 1 MV/cm) and enabled negligible hysteresis in MIS capacitor and OFET. A field-effect mobility of ${\sim}0.6\;cm^2/V\;s$, on/off current ratio (Ion/Ioff) of ${\sim}10^5$ and inverse subthreshold slope (SS) as low as 1.22 V/decwere achieved. The high dielectric strength made it possible to scale down the thickness of dielectric, and low-voltage operation of -5 V was successfully realized. The chemical changes were monitored by FT-IR. The morphology and microstructure of the pentacene layer grown on PA dielectrics were also investigated and correlated with OFET device performance.

공기공급 조건이 스택성능에 미치는 영향 (The effect of PEMFC stack performance at air supply condition)

  • Research has been proceeded on fuel cell which is fueled by hydrogen. Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is promising power source due to high power density, simple construction and operation at low temperature. But it has problems such as high cost, temperature dependent performance. These problems could be solved by experiment which is useful for analysis and optimization of fuel cell performance and heat management. In this paper, when hydrogen flows constantly at the stoichiometry of ${\xi}=1.6$, the performance of the fuel cell stack was increased and the voltage difference between each cells was decreased according to the increase of air stoichiometry by 2.0, 2.5, 3.0. Therefore, the control of air flow rate in the same gas channel is important to get higher performance. Purpose of this research is to expect operation temperature, flow rate, performance and mass transportation through experiment and to help actual manufacture of PEM fuel cell stack.

  • Hydrogen is the ideal candidate as an alternative energy carrier, so many hydrogen storage methods are investigated. The hydrogen storage method using metal hydride is good candidate as energy sources for portable devices because hydrogen-storage as metal hydride shows large volumetric storage density. In this study, we investigated the variations of hydrogen charging/discharging performance of metal hydride tanks at different temperature conditions. We charged metal hydride tanks with hydrogen in low temperature because of the exothermic reactions of hydrogen absorption while we discharged in high temperature to provide sufficient heat because of the endothermic reactions of desorption. In addition, we investigated the difference of hydrogen charging/discharging performance between two tanks having different sizes.

SDINS에서 의사 자이로 바이어스 보상 기법 (Compensation of Pseudo Gyro Bias in SDINS)

  • The performance of a Strapdown Inertial Navigation System (SDINS) relies heavily on the accuracy of sensor error calibration. Systematic calibration is usually employed when only a 2-axis turntable is available. For systematic calibration, the body frame is commonly defined with respect to sensor axes for ease of computation. The drawback of this approach is that sensor axes may undergo time-varying deflection under temperature change, causing pseudo gyro bias. The effect of pseudo gyro bias on navigation performance is negligible for low grade navigation systems. However, for higher grade systems undergoing rapid temperature change, the error is no longer negligible. This paper describes in detail conditions leading to the presence of pseudo gyro bias, and proposes two techniques for mitigating the error. Experimental results show that applying these techniques improves navigation performance for precision SDINS, especially under rapid temperature change.

RCCI 엔진의 디젤 분사 파라미터에 따른 연소 및 배출가스 특성에 대한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Effect of Diesel Injection Parameters on Combustion and Emission Characteristics in RCCI Engine)

  • 디젤엔진의 열효율을 높이면서 NOx와 PM을 효과적으로 저감시키기 위해 HCCI(Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition), PCCI(Premixed Charge Compression Ignition), RCCI(Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition) 등의 저온연소(LTC: Low Temperature Combustion)전략이 개발되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 저반응성 연료로는 가솔린을 사용하고 고반응성 연료로는 디젤을 사용하는 RCCI 엔진에서 고반응성 연료인 디젤연료의 분사 시기와 이단 분사비율이 성능 및 배출가스에 미치는 영향을 수치해석을 통하여 파악하고자 하였다. 이단 분사 시 첫 번째 분사시기가 너무 진각되면 연소가 느려지면서 연소온도가 낮아져 연소성능이 저하되고 HC, CO가 증가한다. 대략 -60°ATDC 의 분사시기가 연소성능, 배출가스 및 최대압력상승률을 고려하였을 때 가장 최적의 분사시기라고 판단된다. 이단 분사 시 두 번째 분사시기를 변경하였을 때 연소성능 및 배출가스, 최대압력상승률 등을 고려하면 대략 -30°ATDC 부근에서 최적인 것으로 판단된다. 이단 분사 시 분사량 비율은 첫 번째 분사량을 60% 정도로 하였을 때 최적의 결과를 얻었다. 마지막으로 단일 분사보다는 이단 분사한 경우 연소성능 및 배출가스 부분에서 더 효과적인 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구는 주위의 온도보다 약 $20{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ 밖에 높지 않은 저온폐열을 활용하기 위한 TM(Thermal to Mechanical) 발전변환기의 개발을 위하여 저온도차 스털링엔진의 하나인 MM-7에 대한 성능실측 연구를 수행하였다. 스털링엔진의 흡열부와 방열부의 온도차에 대한 토크 및 분당회전수를 측정하고 이를 바탕으로 MM-7 엔진의 출력을 산출하였으며, 이를 통하여 효율적인 TM발전변환기의 개발 방안을 모색하였다.

  • Among the various factors influencing the service life of the electric equipment, the performance of dielectric insulation materials has an important role to determine their whole service life. In order to determine the degradation of insulating materials immersed in extremely low temperature media such as liquid nitrogen, the abrupt temperature change from cryogenic to normal room temperature should be considered. But the assessments of low-temperature aging test method for the dielectric materials immersed in liquid nitrogen considering these conditions were not fully reported. Therefore, for the fundamental step to establish the suitable degradation test methods for cryogenic dielectric materials, we focused on the evaluation of ageing test methods for dielectric materials exposed to low temperature environments considering thermal shock by cool-down and warm up test.

흡기관 분사식 수소 SI기관의 희박과급 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of the Lean Boosting in a Hydrogen-fueled Engine with the SI and the External Mixture)

  • In order to achieve simultaneously the ultra-low NOx, the high power and the high efficiency in a hydrogen-fueled engine with SI and the external mixture, the effects of low temperature combustion, performance and exhaust are compared and analyzed by the application of the lean boosting. As the results, the decrease rate of the high temperature in the hydrogen is less decreased than the other fuels by high constant-volume specific heat. However, when the conditions of 1.7bar and ${\Phi}=0.33$ are reached by the lean boosting, the maximum gas temperature of hydrogen is decreased under the temperature of NOx formation and it is possible to stabilize combustion below 2% of COVimep. Also, at that condition, it is feasible to achieve simultaneously NOx-free and the power of gasoline level. Therefore, it is found that the lean boosting is useful in the hydrogen-fueled engine.

Poly (4-vinylphenol) 게이트 절연체를 적용한 IGZO TFT의 열처리 온도에 따른 전기적 특성 분석 (Electrical Characteristic Analysis of IGZO TFT with Poly (4-vinylphenol) Gate Insulator according to Annealing Temperature)

  • In this paper, IGZO thin film transistor (TFT) was fabricated with cross-linked Poly (4-vinylphenol) (PVP) gate dielectric for flexible, transparent display applications. The PVP is one of the candidates for low-temperature gate insulators. MIM structure was fabricated to measure the leakage current and evaluate the insulator properties according to the annealing temperature. Low leakage current ( <0.1nA/cm2 @ 1MV/cm ) was observed at $200^{\circ}C$ annealing condition and decreases much more as the annealing temperature increases. The electrical characteristics of IGZO TFT such as subthreshold swing, mobility and ON/OFF current ratio were also improved, which shows that the performance of IGZO TFTs with PVP can be enhanced by reducing the amount of incomplete crosslinking in PVP.

Thermal-flow analysis of a simple LTD (Low-Temperature-Differential) heat engine

  • A combined thermal and flow analysis was carried out to study the behavior and performance of a small, commercial LTD (Low-Temperature-Differential) heat engine. Laminar-flow solutions for annulus and channel flows were employed to estimate the viscous drags on the piston and the displacer and the pressure difference across the displacer. Temperature correction factors were introduced to account for the departure from the ideal heat transfer processes. The analysis results indicate that the work required to overcome the viscous drags on engine moving parts and to move the displacer is much smaller than the moving-boundary work produced by the power piston for temperature differentials in the neighborhood of $20^{\circ}C$ and engine speeds below 10 RPS. A comparison with experimental data reveals large degradations from the ideal heat transfer processes. Thus, heat-transfer devices inside the displacer cylinder are recommended.
