전이영역에서의 2단 날개가 있는 접시형 바닥 교반조의 유동 상태 변화 (Flow Pattern Change of Dished Bottom Vessel with Dual Impeller in Transition Region)

  • 2단 Rushton turbine 날개를 장착한 접시바닥형 교반조 내의 유동 상태가 어떤 회전수에서 변화하는 현상을 찾아냈다. 층류 영역에서는 회전수를 변화시켜도 안정적인 도넛 링이 형성되어 혼합 패턴에 특이한 변동은 관찰되지 않았다. 전이영역에서의 평바닥형 교반조에서는 회전수에 변화를 주어도 두꺼운 2개의 미혼합 도넛 링에 변화가 없는 반면, 접시바닥형 교반조에서는 회전수가 450 rpm이 되면 두꺼운 2개의 미혼합 도넛 링이 아주 얇은 3개의 도넛 링으로 바뀌어 혼합이 개선되었다. 접시바닷형 교반조에서는 Re=138~178의 영역에서 링 모양의 미혼합 영역이 3곳에서 나타났고 그 크기도 컸지만, 평바닥형 교반조에서는 Re=116~176에서 링모양의 미혼합 영역은 2곳에서 나타났으며 그 크기도 작았다. 이러한 현상이 관찰되는 조건은 전이영역으로, 방해판을 부착하였을 때가 방해판이 없을 때와 비교하여 동력수가 커지기 시작하는 영역임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 교반 레이놀즈수가 300을 넘어 유동 상태에 약간의 난류가 섞이게 되면, 이 같은 흐름 양상의 단절이 해소되어 완전히 혼합되었다.

  • Oil and gas industry pumps viscous fluids and investigation of flow physics is important to understand the machine behavior to deliver such fluids. 3D numerical flow simulation and analysis for different viscous fluids at different rotational speeds of a centrifugal impeller have been reported in this paper. Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations were solved and the performance analysis was made. Standard two equation k-${\varepsilon}$ model was used for the turbulence closure of steady incompressible flow. An inlet recirculation and reverse flow in impeller passage was observed at low impeller speeds. It was also found that the higher viscosity fluids have higher recirculation which hinders the impeller performance.

  • We present a permanent magnet-based spherical wheel motor that can be used in omnidirectional mobility applications. The proposed motor consists of a ball-shaped rotor with a magnetic dipole and a hemispherical shell with circumferential air-core coils attached to the outer surface acting as a stator. Based on the rotational symmetry of the rotor poles and stator coils, we are able to model the rotor poles and stator coils as dipoles. A simple physical model constructed based on a torque model enables fast numerical simulations of motor dynamics. Based on these numerical simulations, we test various control schemes that enable constant-speed rotation along arbitrary axes with small rotational attitude error. Torque analysis reveals that the back electromotive force induced in the coils can be used to construct a control scheme that achieves the desired results. Numerical simulations of trajectories confirm that even without explicit methods for correcting the rotational attitude error, it is possible to drive the motor with a low attitude error (<5°) using the proposed control scheme.

  • 슈라우드가 장착된 초음속 충동형 터빈의 팁간극에 따른 성능변화를 시험적으로 고찰하였다. 시험은 30톤급 터보펌프용 터빈을 이용하였으며 고압공기를 이용하여 다양한 압력비 및 회전수 범위에서 이루어졌다. 터빈의 효율민감도는 기준시험점에서 0.05의 매우 작은 값을 나타내었다. 터빈효율변화는 간극의 크기에 다라 비선형적으로 변화하였으며 고정된 압력비에서 효율민감도는 회전수의 세제곱에 비례하는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 회전수에 무관하게 효율민감도는 기준시험 압력비에서 최소값을 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In the three axis control of satellite by using reaction wheel and gyro, a reaction wheel produces the control torque by the wheel speed or momentum, and a gyro carries out measuring of the attitude angle and the attitude angular velocity In this study, dynamic modelling of the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is consisted of the one from the rotational motion of the satellite with the basic rigid body and a flexible body model, and the gyro in addition to the reaction wheel model. The results obtained by the robust controller are compared with those of the PI (Proportional and Integration) controller which is commonly used for the stabilizing satellite.

  • This study is test for STS304 specimen using bending and torsion state. Rounded specimen and notched specimen including fracture surface investigation was comparatively experimented, fatigue life according to degree of surface finishing was examined. Fatigue fracture probability of notched canilever specimens were predicted by P-S-N curve, median rank and Weibull distribution. And at the relation with the rotational speed and stress, the fatigue life of the test specimen was higher at high speed than low speed If summarize STS304 torsion result of fatigue test, is as following. Fatigue life prediction was available by Weibull statistics distribution, and 50% breakdown probability correlation equation was appeared as following.

The destruction cause of macaine components is almost accused by fatigue. This study is test for STS304 specimen using pure and cantilever bending state.   • Most of hard disk drives currently employ fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) for their rotor support. Stiffness of the FDB is affected by many design factors such as bearing clearance, fluid viscosity, and rotational speed. For the high rotating speed HDDs stiffness of the rotor is normally high enough to accomodate load disturbances. However small form factor HDDs that are to be operated in low power consumption are often designed with low stiffness rotors. Although the low stiffness rotor clearly benefits low power operation, it could damage the entire motor structure or head disk interface even by a light mechanical load disturbance such as shock or vibration. In addition, since a single channel HDD does not provide gram load equilibrium in axial direction the rotor could be tilted and make a hard contact to stator. A non-symmetric groove pattern could successfully compensate the tilted rotor angle during operation.

  • Gear train system test rig of power circulating type was fabricated, and systematic experiment for measuring dynamic characteristics of the planetary gear trains in the low speed region has been carried out using the test rig. The measured parameters are fillet strains of the sun gear and ring gear, carrier displacements, torques of the input and output shafts. The results are as follows : i) Even though the loading torque is constant, torque variation has been observed on the input and output hafts, ii) The variation of the torque has two frequency components, i.e. lower one of the input shaft rotation and higher one of the two teeth meshing, iii) The variation of the fillet strains shows the same tendency as that of the torque, iv) The loci of the carrier depend on the torque and rotational speed.

회전형 초음파모터의 소형 위상차 제어기 개발 (Development of Compact Phase-difference Controller for an Ultrasonic Rotary Motor)

  • In this paper, a uniform speed controller for an ultrasonic rotary motor is developed using the phase-difference method. The phase difference method uses traveling waves to drive the ultrasonic motor. The traveling waves are obtained by adding two standing waves that have a different phase to each other. A compact phase-difference driver system is designed and integrated by combining VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) and phase shifter. Theoretically the relationship between the phase difference in time and the rotational speed of the ultrasonic motor is sine function, which is verified by experiments. Then a series of experiments under various loading conditions are conducted to characterize the motor's performance that is the relationship between the speed and torque. Proportional-integral control is adopted for the uniform speed control. The proportional control unit calculates the compensating phase-difference using the rotating speed which is measured by an encoder and fed back. Integral control is used to eliminate steady-state errors. Differential control for reducing overshoot is not used since the response of ultrasonic motor is prompt due to its low inertia and friction-driving characteristics. The developed controller demonstrates reasonable performance overcoming disturbing torque and the changes in material properties due to continuous usage.
