  • We present the detailed image decomposition of Hubble Space Telescope archival images for 235 nearby (z < 0.35) unobscured type 1 AGNs. It allows us to perform robust measurements of host galaxy properties and AGN luminosity contribution. We examine how the host properties correlate with AGN properties. Broad line type 1 and radio-loud AGNs are hosted preferentially by early type galaxies. Narrow line type 1 AGNs show a low fraction of tidal interaction, that might suggest the secular evolution may play an important role for triggering AGN activity, while the fraction of merging hosts is rather higher in luminous AGNs. We compare the nucleus luminosity and bulge luminosity and find that either our sample might have a smaller zero point in the M(BH)-L(bulge) relation (i.e. less massive black hole at a given bulge luminosity) relation compared to the normal galaxies or Eddington ratio of our sample could be systematically overestimated.

  • In terms of deregulation requests from business, incidents at construction sites are rapidly increasing after reducing the regular safety training hours. Especially, to prevent incidents through safety trainings for construction site workers, who have lots of hazardous tasks than general manufacturing, is not only to protect property of both the companies and the country but also to increase their profits. That is why there are loud voices regarding that the safety training is a core mandatory to prevent industrial incidents. But, most companies, as soon as the deregulation for safety training is implemented, mitigated conducting safety trainings to prevent incidents. With this, theincidents are currently to be increased and caught in a vicious circle of many incidents at the smaller companies because of their absentmindedness regarding safety training due to their poorness as subcontractors of major companies, comparing to major companies. This study explains that incident factors are roughly divided into technical factor, managerial factor, and educational factor. And, we confirmed that the educational factor led by deficiency safety awareness and knowledge was the major factor.

  • Sunroof is getting widely used in automobiles since it maintains, compare to window, better air circulation as well as less noise while driving in high speed. In this study, we consider an electronic control type spoiler sunroof which slides backward after tilting a rear part of a glass. Installing a wind deflector on the sunroof reduces noise much more effectively. The height of the wind deflector is designed using a boundary theory related to incompressible air layer. The developed wind deflector is investigated experimentally by measuring a wind noise. When the height of the wind deflector is designed by a fixed type, the sunroof maintains a very quiet interior noise over a certain driving speed, nevertheless it produces relatively loud noise in low driving speed.

  • This paper suggests a method on the use of very long linear array microphone in order to obtain clear loud sound reinforcement system without howling. According to the results of the theoretical investigation, we have made that a linear array microphone. This is made of one hundred small condenser microphone having 2 cm of spatical period. To estimate the effect of sound reinforcement system physically and subjectively, four cases have been experimented : In case of using no sound reinforcement, nondirectivity microphone, rectangular window and Hnning window in linear array microphone. The experimental results prove that the case of Hnning window in linear array microphone is more excellent.

  • The main question addressed in this research was whether an adaptation of a standard exercise Physiology Procedure would be sensitive enough to record excess oxygen uptake associated with speech activity. Oxygen consumption was recorded for a single subject during 7-minute rest periods and an automatic speech task, also 7-minutes long and performed at three different vocal efforts. The data show measurable and systematic speech-induced modifications of breathing and oxygen uptake patterns. The subject was found to use less power for normal than for soft and loud speech. This result is similar to findings reported by experimental biologists on the energetics of locomotion. However, more comprehensive feasibility studies need to be undertaken on a larger population before solid and detailed conclusions about speech energy costs are possible. However, it appears clear that, for experimental tasks like the present one, i.e., variations in vocal effort, standard exercise physiology methods may indeed offer a viable approach to recording excess oxygen uptake associated with speech movements.

  • Heart sound contains rich information regarding the dynamics of the heart and the auscultation has been a first choice of routine procedures for diagnosis of the heart. However, heart sounds captured using a conventional stethoscope are not often loud or clear enough for doctors to precisely classify their characteristics, especially, under the noisy environments of the hospital. A simple auscultation device that removed shortcomings of the conventional stethoscope was constructed in the study. The device employed a polymer based adherent differential output sensor which was on contact with skin through a coupling medium and appropriated electronic circuits for signal amplification and conditioning An ordinary headphone is taken to hear the captured heart sounds and the volume can be adjusted to hear well. It is also possible that the device sends the captured heart sound signals to a PC where the signals are further processed and viualized.

  • Recently, many linear motion generators and motors are rapidly finding applications that ranges from short stroke linear motion vibrators, such as dynamic con type loud speakers to stilting engine driven linear reciprocating alternators, compressors, textile machines etc. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of tubular linear motor with Halbach and radial magnet array respectively. We already derived magnetic field solutions due to the PMs and to the currents and Motor thrust. On the basis of analytical field solutions, this paper deals with flux linkages and back emf. The results are validated extensively by comparison with finite element analyses. Then, this parer also presents thrust characteristics according to design parameters for each model.

  • In this study, the extracted words from the former study such as annoying, loud, noisy, irritating, disagreeable, strident, disturbed, and dissonant are given to subjects in psycho acoustic experiment lab. And then, correlation analysis between the words and floor impact noise rating method were carried out. As a result of this study followings are suggested ‘Annoying’ is the word most accurately expressing the subjects’ unpleasant feeling of domestic floor impact noise. The results of this study could be basic materials for psycho acoustic experiments for criteria on floor impact noise and Sound Classification on Floor Impact Sound Insulation Performance.

  • This paper reviews the dynamic load phenomenon referred to as 'silo quaking', caused shock vibration and loud noise, during gravity discharge in coal silos. Quaking in tall silo is examined using experimental data obtained from a Coal Power Plant and several experimental and numerical investigations available in the published literature. In the experiment, the acceleration was measured at various height on the silo column and floor and by doing so, not only could the variation of the amplitude of the quaking be observed, but also the propagation of waves could clearly be seen. Through an overview of recent research on this subject, it is shown that the current silo quaking is produced by slip-stick friction between the internal wall of silo and the granular material, i.e. coal.

  • This study examine the annoyance of transportation noise exposure and found the survey method about which noise induces more disturbance or annoyance when more than two kinds of noise exist. This study describes the noise annoyance survey performed in the vicinity of Sin-wol interchange. This residential area was exposed to aircraft noise and traffic noise simultaneously and aircraft noise exposure of this area is about 81 WECPNL, traffic noise exposure is about 81.2 dB(A) nearby road. Noise sources are grouped into three part, traffic noise, aircraft noise and community noise. The questionnaire includes how often, how loud each noise is heard. Also this deals with comparative annoyance reaction from specific noise sources such as aircraft or traffic and its disturbance of daily activities. Facade noise mapping are executed by using a commercial noise mapping software.
